Couldn't agree more. BFD he threw to his running backs. If we had Sproles, MM would have more plays designed for him to catch the ball as well.

Brees has put together a historic season and cemented himself in the record books. I think he gets the MVP, and that is in no was a knock on AR.
Why does Flynn's day knock the abilities of Rodgers? The pass protection was arguably the best all year minus that first drive.

Yet, people forget dumping off to one of the best 3rd down backs in the game along with tossing a screen. I have yet to see Brees throw a pass in which Rodgers did on 3rd down vs the Steelers in the Super Bowl.
Brees deserves the MVP, and as a Rodgers fan, it hurts me to say it. There's two factors that lead me to this conclusion:

A. Flynn threw six TDs yesterday. 6. Rodgers has never done that. Clearly, a lot of Rodgers' success is due to the system. Anthony Dilwig could probably do some damage driving this Lamborghini of an offense.

2. Saints are the hot team right now. Everyone's talking about Who Dat, and the Packers are basically an afterthought right now. Since all national commentators have their fingers on the pulse of what's what, Brees deserves the nod.
Rodgers over Brees and it really shouldn't be close. 14 wins in 15 tries vs 13 in 16. Secured home field advantage. Packers beat New Orleans head to head.

I'm not buying any of the Brees arguments, so what if he's been great for 6 years and didn't win an MVP? Tough luck. It's not like Rodgers career has been garbage, and he doesn't have his MVP either.

Anyone who changed their MVP vote because of Flynn's performance really shouldn't have a vote. What Flynn did has no bearing on what Rodgers did. If you watched Rodgers this season you know how accurate he's been, you know how great he has been at protecting the football, you know it's not just a product of a system and great teammates. Brees has plenty of talent helping him as well.

Who cares about the yards record? Brady would've broken it a week later anyway. If you put this year's A-Rod in a dome and consciously have him chase records Brees style he might've thrown for 6,000 yards.

Oh, and Rodgers leads in ESPN QBR

I keep hearing this. My response is, the system has been running on Rodgers' timing, pace and mindset, and it didn't just start clicking overnight. It developed. Rodgers deserves a lot of the credit for that.

Also, MM is a master of developing QBs, no question, but just because there's 2 of them shouldn't diminish Rodgers' season. That's like saying Montana wasn't great because of Young.

EKB,

But, look at the ratio of TD's to INT's.

Rodgers - 45:6 = 7.5
Brees - 46:14 = 3.3

I honestly think Rodgers played QB at the highest level the position has ever been played.

Looking at the above, the ratio of the ratios (7.5/3.3) is nearly 2.3.

That difference is just sick.

That's another NFL season record there that no one talks about. I believe he is number 1 career wise in that stat also.

Don't forget that Arod didn't fumble all year (Brees had 1), got sacked more often (worse O-Line), had more yards per pass, had more yards rushing. Overall, clearly the more complete player. Passing yardage is highly overrated, its much more impressive to get the same number of TDs wit 100 fewer attempts. Brees had several games with at least 2 ints, ARod had only 6 games with an int and no games with more than one int. All under generally tougher conditions than Brees weather-wise. You can't seriously tell me that isn't deserving of an MVP.

I think Flynn showed yesterday that the Packers would still be a playoff contender without AR. You take Brees away from NO and they contend high draft position.

Stupidity. Flynn's play has only one meaning- he's a well coached, well prepared, good QB who when given the opportunity has performed well. Nothing else.

Brees was relieved by Chase Daniels for a total of 5 passes this season. Meanwhile, he stayed in against Carolina dn ATL to pad stats when t he game was a blowout.

Numbers should not determine this award.
