Sweep these chumps!
Happy to see Chourio ahead of Hoskins in the batting order. Maybe he can drive in the runs that Hoskins leaves stranded when he strikes out.
Myers throwing strikes. 29 pitches in the 2 innings. 19 strikes and 10 balls, 4 of those to Tauchman who walked.
Bases loaded 2 outs in the 3rd , Frelick at the plate, time to score! And Frelick blows the opportunity
Bases loaded again in the 4th, 1 out. Top of the order up with Turang, now get some runs boys!
And they blow it again, this is how to lose a game.
Robo-ump can't get here soon enough. Stop showing me the strike zone when umps can't see it for shit.
Tonight's game is again at 7:05 CT, Colin Rea on the mound, full line up to follow.

Rain delay continues
Rea does a nice job getting out of a jam in the 2nd.
Chourioβs skill set is just astonishing.
A couple times seemingly every week the last two months, I see him do something that just leaves me shaking my head.
Lord, just let him stay healthy.
Heβs safe.
I think Turang was safe, too. What's going on here?
Sure seems like blocking to me. Mitchell had to slide way outside the path to home plate.
Seems like some real home cooking for the Cubs.
Yeli's ice cold, 1 for his last 19.
Rea's pitching a great game thus far. I really hope we get him some run support. Peralta pitched a gem the other night, and a no decision.
Peguro on the mound. Oh no.
Bauers on. Let's get him home, JC!
Chourio got a hit and advanced the runner, but got caught going for two.
Brice gets it done! 1-0 Brew Crew!
Son of a bitch. Bases loaded with two outs. Koenig is all over the place. Contreras had to reach like whoa to keep that pitch from flying to Peoria.
I don't like sticking with him. But I've been wrong before.
Koenig with 30 pitches this inning.
PLease!
Whew.....................................
Top of the ninth, 1-0. Let's get at least one more run guys.
Yeli was lifted for a pinch hitter last inning. He looked gimpy running out the grounder. Let's hope it's nothing serious.
First and second with no outs, and we strand both runners.
2 for 17 with runners in scoring position in the two games.
Swanson leads off with a single. Need a DP now.
Tying run at second. Two away.
Brewers win!
Here we go again with Yeliβs back. Nice win tonight though.
Yeah, I'm concerned. He hasn't looked good the last few games before this.
After the game Murphy said he fears Yelich may have to go on I L. At least Chourio seems like a more than adequate replacement.
Today's game is at 1:20 CT, Zastrynzy starts for the Crew:
Player | W-L | ERA | WHIP | IP | H | K | BB | HR |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1-0 | 0.00 | 0.15 | 6.2 | 0 | 5 | 1 | 0 | |
2-4 | 3.07 | 1.02 | 91.0 | 73 | 87 | 20 | 8 |
Yelich out as expected with the back issue, here's the line up:
hitters | H-AB | HR | RBI | SB | AVG |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
J. Ortiz3B | 62-242 | 7 | 30 | 6 | .256 |
112-395 | 11 | 56 | 5 | .284 | |
57-268 | 15 | 48 | 2 | .213 | |
96-385 | 16 | 68 | 12 | .249 | |
74-293 | 10 | 40 | 12 | .253 | |
10-40 | 1 | 4 | 2 | .250 | |
9-21 | 3 | 8 | 0 | .429 | |
16-79 | 1 | 10 | 5 | .203 | |
63-256 | 6 | 28 | 14 | .246 |
Yelich to the IL. Doesn't sound like something that will be short term thing. Yelich's comment that he has to decide what's best to do in the short and long term is ominous. It's not out of the question he'll be out for the year or at least until September.

As we've discussed before, his back issues were flagged by the Marlins well over a decade ago.
@ammo posted:After the game Murphy said he fears Yelich may have to go on I L. At least Chourio seems like a more than adequate replacement.
Chourio is 12 years younger, but Yelich's back is probably the equivalent of 70 year old.
Yelich is signed for 4 more years at 22 million a year.
Yelich now talking about spinal surgery. That's not just season ending, that's the kind of thing that is often career ending.
Almost every Chourio at-bat, even when he makes an out, looks good right now.
