Thanks, I've been waiting to see this.

It's hilarious he was wearing "#4" when he was at Butte.

"Mom, my goals have changed. I don't desire to be the best QB in the NFL, I want to be remembered as one of the best men to play QB in the NFL." - Aaron Rodgers

I hope he never changes that attitude.
"The former quarterback who used to play here" (or close to that), "We don't have a relationship."

"Mom, my goals have changed. I don't desire to be the best QB in the NFL, I want to be remembered as one of the best men to play QB in the NFL."

Priceless.
That is good stuff. First time I had actually heard Bert's comment in audio reference "what took so long".

Sounds like an old and whiney punk.

Sorry Bert but Arod has already passed you and your packer legacy bye.

Easy to see he was not raised by the hillbilly clan in $ec country.

Y'know, even if he doesn't...(and I think he'll win a LOT more) he's already proven himself to be considered along with Bart in terms of character. It's been a pleasure to watch him become who he's become. I don't know how many times I told PackerFanFan how much we'd miss TOG when he was gone. Well, I was wrong. If he'd retired with the grace and style of those who came before him, and as it appeared he would after that touching, tearful retirement press conference in 2008, Brett would have been one of the most revered NFL alumni in history. As it is, with the stuff about the calls to the Lions, and the stuff about Jenn, and the stuff about phototexting, and the stuff about a private locker room, and on and on and on... he's become an embarrassment and a HUGE disappointment. I really hope we see a photo of Aaron and Bart along the lines of the famous photo of Brett and Bart.

Aaron, many thanks for yet AGAIN making me very happy to a Packer fan.

I use to think that TOG was a good guy. Never said anything publically that embarrassed him or the team, went above & beyond for Make-A-Wish Foundation, and seemed to be a very supportive teammate. Then, in 2008 all that changed and we began to find out what was really happening with Brett. I wished I could be talking about 3 high character guys. But, I'll have to settle for two right now - AR (so far) and Bart Starr.
I nearly lost it watching him bend over and kiss that poor cancer-riddled kid on his head in front of all those people. I really hope what he's portrayed as is actually what he is. If so, we're in for a helluva ride.
JJ, do you remember the thread by the poster who ran into him at the Kentucky Derby this year? I don't think you can't fake that kind of genuine.

Wouldn't mind finding that thread again either. Great story.

My favorite part is Rodgers response, complete class. It just makes Favre's comments look so pathetic, I am actually embarrased for Favre.

JJSD: That scene brought tears to my eyes...I love A-12, and then this: "Mom, my goals have changed. I don't desire to be the best QB in the NFL, I want to be remembered as one of the best men to play QB in the NFL." D*mn he is JUST THE BEST.

There were always rumors about Brett and his off field endeavors. If you were in GB in the 90's you heard all the stories. Hell it was part of the reason that Glanville traded him to GB. People just overlooked things because of his play on field.

With Rodgers though, you hear no such rumors or stories. In fact, we may have Brett to thank for teaching him something after all, what *not* to do in your career/life.
How perversely true.

And yet, a contingency exists, a very large one, that believes the organization somehow owes it to him to retire his number some day.

The same guy who refused to mentor his successor, saying verbatim, "he can learn by watching me like everyone else."

The same guy who would routinely end games--and even his own team's seasons--by launching bullsh*t passes up for grabs, only to "explain" afterwards by saying, he "has nothing left to prove to anyone."

The same guy who routinely blamed anyone and everyone else for his own shortcomings, as if he was jesus h. christ himself and could do no wrong.

The same guy who was so caught up in his own inflated self-worth that he actually believed the organization should release him from his contract outright, so he could pursue his own separate career with a team the organization would presumably have to play against, out of some sort of--get this--gratitude for blowing so many playoff games.

The same guy who literally expected the team to change its entire preseason gameplan because the almighty had decided at the last minute he didn't like being out of the limelight and wanted to play again, and who somehow decided it was the team's duty to take him back even though he was the one who said he "did not want to play anymore," as if it was their fault for not knowing his own tears were fake.

The same guy who then came in and was purposefully so demanding and negative the coach was forced to tell the GM there was "no way he could work with that kind of negativity" and had to suggest a trade.

The same guy who, once divorced from the organization who fed him and whom he and he alone abandoned--even though the split was 100% his fault--hated the organization (and by proxy its fans) so much he devoted the remainder of his pathetic career to doing everything he could to get back at them, including signing with their arch-rival and calling another division foe and revealing insider information out of spite. The same guy who went public with his hatred, childishly having "Thanks Ted" T-shirts made and telling other teams' players things like "Just go beat the Packers."

The same guy who, when his replacement came in and with his superior play exposed him as a reckless turnover machine who was nothing more than an ego-driven pervert with a half-limp dick, even then--the very time when you would think he should show some humility--tried to act as if the guy who replaced him was nothing more than lucky and happened to "fall into a good situation" and "should have gotten to the Super Bowl sooner."

THAT GUY, who by his words and conduct did nothing but CRAP ON THE GREEN BAY PACKERS AND THEIR FANS for several YEARS, is somehow worthy of immortalization.

Unbelievable.

AS A SHAREHOLDER, and IN MY LIFETIME, not with my consent do I see that ass_hole's number next to deserving players like #66 and #15. Ever.

Please, thank you, and wise the **** up.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we now unveil, next to Bart Starr and Ray Nitschke, who braved minus twenty degrees farenheit in support of the team they loved, the number of this guy(!):

"Who his own coach almost benched in an NFC Championship game because he thought it was too cold to play and did not care,

"And who devoted his life to a petty vendetta against the Green Bay Packers, who he hated."

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen Pistol. Couldn't have said it better.

Thanks for posting this link. It's been stated before, but as fans we are so effing lucky. Not just from a football perspective, but beyond that. AR has been the type of player who makes me proud not only for his football accomplishments as a Packer, but also as a person. That speaks volumes.

Do you have a nickname for him? Big Grin
Hold on to your hate. Never forget.

I'm serious when I say I don't want to see his number retired in my lifetime.

FYI, I noticed Chris Kluwe is wearing #4 in purple. Made me laugh.
Wow that pistol was smoking hot with bulls eye hits from the first shot all the way to the last. Mighty good rant indeed.

I wonder how many of us that now dont want bert's # retired would change their mind if/when brett sincerely apologized for his actions since 07/08?

Fortunitely, I dont think the retirement of his number will be something the Pack considers now for quite a few years. But eventually it will be a subject they'll consider.
Not the biggest fan of Favre, but 16 years of mostly brilliant play means something. Doesn't meanI have to like the guy. Lord knows I was battling his minions on this board 3 years before he quit on us, and I spent the previous 5 years explaining to very reasonable fans that ole Brett was not the best QB in NFL history.
I would be fine with the Packers telling TOG over draft week that they were planning to retire his number at the first home game of the season then changing their mind after he arrived in GB for the ceremony. Rinse and repeat for a minimum of 3 seasons.
Retiring numbers. The league is against retiring numbers anyway, since it gets in the way of having enough numbers for preseason. They didn't want Reggie's number retired, but the Packers did it anyway.

Relax all. His name will go on the wall when he is a first year HOF selection. Just like all Packer HOFers. Nice ceremony if he wants it, though he might not since TT would be planning it.

No way that #4 is assigned to anyone for the next decade anyway. Too much pressure on some rookie and a needless insult to a player who carried the team many years.

Lambeau Field is named for the guy who tried to move the team to LA. Had to be fired to stop him. Very deservedly so.

BRint was a POS at times, but he was a 3 time MVP. He didn't bet on games, just cheated on his wife. He was not a perfect player, merely the best Packer QB since Starr. If he had ended his career after 14 years because of injury, his reputation in Wisconsin would be golden.

So, yes, I expect his number to be retired (it already is de facto) .......someday. Not while ARod is at QB though. ..................later.
