The discussion about the top 53 started me thinking about the PS and when I started looking at the tackle group did it strike anyone else that most of the backup tackles look like extras from a King Kong movie! They are all massive men and a little slow footed- this is a vast difference from previous years. Caleb Jones now has a little polish but still seems painfully slow against elite twitch pass rushers. As a matter of course it seemed to me that Travis Glover seemed to be the one w/the most upside. Still needs a P/S year but unlike Jones and Tenutta he appears like he can move his feet!
First the Packers announced they signed him on Thurs, now the Packers reveal its a three-year deal for DL Keonte Schad at $2.83 million
That's more $$ than a typical tryout/PS kind of deal...
from last week:
The Green Bay Packers signed DL Keonte Schad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction on Thursday.
Schad (6-2, 284), a first-year player out of Oregon State, played for the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL in 2023, finishing No. 2 in the league with 7.5 sacks. In 2024, he played in the UFL for the Houston Roughnecks, posting 19 tackles (seven solo), a tackle for a loss and a half-sack. The Madison, Wis., native played at Ellsworth Community College before playing in 17 games over two seasons at the University of Minnesota (2019-20) and then one season at Oregon State (2021), where he earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention from the coaches and fourth-team All-Pac-12 honors from Phil Steele's College Football. He will wear No. 98 for the Packers.
Important note as teams construct their initial 53-man rosters:

NFL teams were informed that the NFLPA vetoed the revised Emergency 3rd Quarterback rule that would have allowed teams to elevate a bona fide QB from the practice squad an unlimited number of times.
So, the rule…

That's about $200,000 per year over the minimum. If he plays well there will be a restructure in 2025.
Malik Willis!! Is a packer
QB trade: Titans are sending QB Malik Willis to the Packers in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick, per sources. Willis is likely to back up Jordan Love. pic.twitter.com/stzUJ7EvSc

Appears neither Clifford or Pratt are making the final 53.

This guy has Schad as a cut. Not bloody likely given the news above.
Did "we" throw in Toure to sweeten the deal

Did Schefter tell Gutekunst about the trade? Is he just making stuff up again? The sources I just checked don't say anything about it. Maybe I am too early. But Schefter has been wrong before.
You have great sources

Can he kick FG better than Carlson or Joseph?
I can't believe the Titans are giving up on him so quickly. What happened to the draft and develop mantra - oh yeah, that is only in GB. Never mind.

Good idea. Maybe they are keeping Carlson as a kicker.
I like it. Still only 25, has flashed in the preseason, and has wheels. He is more likely to keep the team afloat than Pratt or Clifford should Love miss time. Late 7th rd pick for him seems like good speculative value.
I'll close this thread as soon as all the Packer cuts come out. Leaving it open now if anybody else wants to try their shot at a prediction
I predict I won't win lotto, but will continue to play for some reason.
