Since we have injury updates/MM tidbits spread all over 3 threads, we'll try and consolidate all info into one thread.

Here are highlights from MM today:

(Update on Rodgers) He has not been cleared yet from the medical staff. He’ll practice tomorrow in a limited fashion and we haven’t ruled him out for game.
Aaron wants to play but it’s medical situation. He understands where he is in the process, he feels good, and we’re going to see what he can do tomorrow.

(What have you been doing the last few days?) We’re focused beating on the Atlanta Falcons. Graded Minnesota and Detroit games and self scouted. Players here today, strength and conditioning this morning, started game planning with them in the afternoon.

(Why McMillian cut?) It’s tough. Any time bring in young player you have expectations, but felt we needed to do this for our roster. His performance wasn’t quite what we needed it to be. You don’t want to give up on a young guy and I wish him well.

(What did you like about Bell?) Good fit for special teams and be backup in running back group.

(Would you sit Rodgers if you don’t win this week?) That’s external, there have been no internal conversations about shutting him down. He wants to play and will play when healthy.

(Does practice help dictate whether he’s healthy?) It’s part of the rehab, the next level.

(How worn down were players after last week?) We knew going into it, with the early bye and the number of injuries it was a challenge. This time off I feel will help us.

(Sherrod getting a chance this week?) Good to get him in the game last week. But as far as lining up, Barclay feels good, Dietrich-Smith feels good, so hoping to get back to the line of a few weeks ago.

(Who will take first-team reps at QB Wednesday?) Matt Flynn.

(You made priority of injuries from last year, what’s going on there?) I’m no miracle worker and nobody is, nobody has a handle on why all the injuries across the league. There’s a lot of opinions, medical staff is up on the research. The organization has phenomenal resources, and everything we can do to help the health of the players from training and resource standpoint, that’s what we’ll do. Everything is looked at, the pattern of injuries, the timing. Overtraining isn’t an issue. There’s a lot of opinions out there.

Why Flynn over Tolzien?) We think Matt’s further along with game experience and more comfortable in the system. Scott’s worked extremely hard. This will be Matt’s first week of getting a full week’s of reps. Then how do you balance that with Aaron possibly playing, balance we have to get.

(Cobb ready?) He hasn’t been cleared yet but looks good and feels good.

(EDS’s knee?) Said he feels good after the weekend, hope he can practice tomorrow.

(Think it would be this hard without Rodgers?) Disappointed, frustrated, whatever word, that’s how I feel. I understand the importance of Aaron to the team as QB and to make everyone around him better. We haven’t handled the challenges our opponents have put in front of us. That’s where we have to stay the course. Atlanta is going to challenge us the same way and I think we’ll be better prepared. We have to have a very good plan and play fundamental football, and I’m confident we’ll win the game.

(What happened to run defense?) I’m not going to make excuses. The Detroit report card, the offense had zero positives, all negatives, the defense had four turnovers and the rest negatives. Biggest thing was we had 20 missed tackles.

(Plan personnel changes this week?) We’re staying true to who we are. We studied the film, correct what we’ve done, get some people healthier, more competition for playing time in certain packages. But I’m not getting into specifics, that’s why you play.

Reading into typical MM speak, stating Rodgers wants to play VS. we are ready for him to go 2 entirely differently things. With Flynn getting the starting reps this week, hard to imagine Rodgers will be a go.

The "external" speak is also telling IMO as well. This is the same guy who claimed he had no diagnosis on Rodgers post-bear game when he had to have known Rodgers collarbone was broken. External sources got that Perrys foot was broken, Cobb broke his leg, Finley has a spinal cord contusion, and Rodgers broke his collarbone. I still don't get the injury reporting that goes on from MM.

I'm not defending MM by any stretch. His teams have looked inferior and like ass ever since Rodgers went out, and at times before the injury. But seriously, what exactly do you as fans feel you should hear from him? What would make you feel content and fuzzy on the inside? That this offseason it's obvious that they'll probably fire their DC and shake up other coaching positions? That most likely many of the players you see on both sides Of the ball won't be in a GB uniform next year?? Coach speak in coach speak and link me up to other coaches in the league who say the things you want to hear when they're getting kicked in the mouth every week? I forgot, as fans we deserve so much more from our coaches in their press conferences to the media.
I've never heard MM deflect responsibility from his team's failures. Maybe that's why I feel the way I do. He says boring and bland schit to fans and the media because that's all we really should know/hear. What he tells his team is a whole other thing.
Can't wait to see where this MENSA meating/I mean... thread goes.

Jesus ****.  Tell me exactly what's up with AR's prognosis.  Right now.  Tell me exactly what you're telling the team this week.  Right now.  Tell me who you're going to fire.  Right now.

With 4 games left, considering the injuries, given the spotty play of the O line, the odds are that AR will get hit quite a lot. Call it wimp attitude if you will BUT I think AR ought to sit the rest of the season and TT fix the problems with the O and D and give MM an ultimatum. Turn it around or get out of town.

Rodgers on Tuesdays w/Aaron:

"At this point, it's really about the risk of going back out there," Rodgers said. "I can't say this morning was the greatest news. I was expecting full clearance. We didn't get that. It's Tuesday, there is still some time before the game. The last time we played Atlanta I was doubtful and I ended up playing."

Rodgers said it might be a challenge if he doesn't get to practice this week or gets just one day of practice and tries to play. He said he still thinks he could be effective.

"We'll see how I feel tomorrow in practice," he said. "I haven't been medically cleared yet. But I am able to practice. Unfortunately for everybody involved, it's just going to be a waiting game. I won't be able to play if I'm not medically cleared."

I can say right now. McCarthy isn't getting an ultimatum. He will be here until he chooses to leave. A backup QB with a full off season of work would have made a difference. It is what it is. You can't make a collarbone heal faster. The MRI/Xray whatever he had doesn't lie. You also can't exactly keep all the muscle in shape.

I say we just go the Wildcat/Heavy package and run 99% of the time. Jordy can be the QB.

I think too, if there is any doubt on the bone, then sit him out.  If that mean all December, then that's what it means.

If Rodgers does come back, I think the confidence this team lost won't return.  Then again I could be wrong.  But I think there is enough self-doubt and collective-doubt that would make it tough for the 2013 Packers win out and win in the playoffs.  Then again...I could be wrong.  If they just could have won one measly game.

Don't worry Flynn got a full week of practice!

The Packers will get worked if ARod doesn't play.  Oh joy.   Bring on the Failcons.   Matty Ice will probably look like Peyton Manning against these guys.

MM is one stubborn SOB or maybe just not as smart as I thought he was.  What's the definition of insanity?

I still think he's a good HC, but JC!!

Yeah, I got an attitude problem tonite!

I get all the angst, but what do you expect MM to say?  He's not going to throw the players he needs to get through the remainder of the season under the bus.  There's a time and place to address personnel, and now is not it.

BTW, very surprised MacMillian was cut.  Very unusual for Pack to give up so early on a young player who seemed to have talent.  Lots of mental mistakes, yes, but so soon? Must be more to the story...

50K, I would say anything other than this: "We haven’t handled the challenges our opponents have put in front of us. That’s where we have to stay the course."

I am starting to think MM Achilles' heel is his lack ability to make appropriate adjustments.

Who doesn't?

So who's fault is that?

Seems to me the Packers had no "disaster plan" in place.  Nowadays, huge corporations have a strategic plan to fall back on.  But MM failed to ensure the guys behind AR got enough experience....and more importantly THE TEAM got experience playing without Rodgers.

Players-Only Meeting for the Packers Didn’t Work, According to John Kuhn

I found a few comments from fullback John Kuhn last night to be enlightening, made on his weekly Packers talk show Clubhouse Live that airs on Mondays during the season.

Asked a question from a viewer about what the team was doing to right the ship, so to speak, Kuhn responded, “We’ve been down the player-only meetings already this year. That one didn’t work, so we’ll have to throw that one out the door.”

In the midst of a five-game winless streak, the Packers have gone from division leaders to being on the outside of the playoffs looking in, going from 5-2 to 5-6-1.

Kuhn didn’t indicate when the players-only meeting took place, but it’s probably safe to assume it took place at some point over the course of the past month, sometime after the loss to the Bears in Week 9 and before the loss to the Lions in Week 13.

SNIP-

Kuhn was also asked about the most-vocal players on the team, and it was interesting to hear that neither of the team’s highest-profile players––quarterback Aaron Rodgers and linebacker Clay Matthews––were included in his answer:

I would say probably a toss-up between T.J. Lang and Randall Cobb. When Randall’s out there playing, he plays with a lot of passion. He lets guys know when they’re not playing up to his and our Green Bay Packers standards. And T.J.’s pretty much the same way too. He’s a great guy to give a pre-game speech, to give a sideline talk, to get up in some guys’ faces and to let them know, ‘Hey, we need to turn it on now.’

If a players only meeting had to happen in order for this team to start doing things like tackle, know their positions, avoid miscommunication etc that would frankly worry me more. IIRC they had one early in MM's tenure. To me a little more understandable back then.

Now? They should not require U RAH RAH! meetings to play like they should.

No, rah-rah meetings aren't required, but I'd like to see some leaders step up and call out some guys who aren't playing up to capability. Where are Matthews' and Rodgers' voices? Sorry, but if your stars don't step up, who's going to listen to an offensive lineman and a guy who is in essence on IR? I think Woodson (I'm starting to think we are missing him a whole lot more as a leader than a player) would have had something to say, and the guys in the locker room would have listened.

From JSO blog:

Green Bay - Here is a summary of coach Mike McCarthy's comments following Wednesday's practice (the injury report is listed first):

INJURY REPORT

TE Brandon Bostick - (concussion) - full
C Evan Dietrich-Smith (knee/ankle) - limited
LB Jamari Lattimore (thigh) - full
LB Mike Neal (abdomen) - DNP
LB Nick Perry (foot/ankle) - limited
QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) - limited
DE C.J. Wilson (ankle) - DNP

MIKE MCCARTHY

(How did Aaron Rodgers look) Went through a limited practice. Basically he did what he was cleared medically to do. Everything went good. Individual drills.
(Further evaluation) No further scan. Follow protocol of rehab. They have a plan for him to progress. Hopefully, tomorrow we'll do more.
(Matt Flynn arm strength) As far as some of the throws Matt's made, some of those are in anticipation, timing. Today excellent throwing. It's establishing rapport with receivers. I think his arm strength is fine. It's more about getting in tune with his receivers.
(Jerron McMillian release) In his case, just consistency of his performance. There's another side, our roster, we needed to make a change.
(2012 draft emphasis on defense not helping) Not good for you today. Haven't thought about one big-picture question.
(Falcons) They've definitely changed from beginning to now. We have to focus on how they're going to play now.
(Eight-man box) We didn't do a good job handling it. Minnesota did the same thing. Working on some things to deal with it. Work on some match-ups.
(Shot plays) There are shots you think you could hit every week. That's why you play the game.
(Tackling) Keep coaching and emphasizing it. We haven't done a good enough job of it. This is another week we can show we can do it.
(Time off) We definitely benefited from the time based on the energy at practice.
(Evan Dietrich-Smith) He twisted his ankle in practice and was not able to finish.

@RussellOnSports

Haven't seen Aaron Rodgers this down in a long time. Clearly upset about the leaks about his collarbone from within the organization.

@RussellOnSports

Rodgers clearly annoyed about the stories about him getting "shut down" saying that if he is, it "won't be my decision."

RT @Paulimig Rodgers: "There’s enough people who are supposedly getting leaks from this organization that can make their own assumptions."
