Walter Payton was a great, great running back... But Jim Brown is considered by many to be the best football player in history. He just happens to be a running back. I think Jim Brown is the biggest lock on any "all time" list that there is... as great as Walter was.

While we're discussing running backs, I'm happy to see nobody mentioned Emmitt Smiff. A wise crowd we have here.
