Line up to get back on the winning track. And HOLY SHIT, Winker benched 2 games in a row. C C must be feeling some heat.
Itâs as close as Winker will ever get to Johnny Bench.
Stop me if youâve heard this one before. Runner at 3rd with less than 2 outs in 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings. Zero runs to show for it.
Frelick continues to give them a nice jolt on offense.
The other young guys, Turang and Wiemer, continue to play good to great defense and barely hit their weight.
No doubt Wiemer has struggled at the plate during July. In 16 games he has hit only 1 home run.
We have left 432 men on base today.
Anemic 0-14 straight with RISP.
4 times with a man on 3rd with one out and nothing to show for it? This would be a devastating loss considering we used our top bullpen guys.
Jesse Winker moves the guy over with a single and Yelich with a walkoff single.
Winker lives for another day.
Now it's a huge win. Winker time!
Didn't have 'clutch hit from Winker' on my bingo card.

Weimer needs to make some changes in the off season. He dives in to too many pitches and has zero chance of making contact. He's seen a ton of breaking stuff and that won't end until he learns how to hit that pitch to RF.
In the Reds last 47 games they are 29-18. 2-9 against the Brewers and 27-9 against the rest of the league.

One hit does not make up for the rest of the failures from this season. He still needs to go.

Probably batting cleanup tonight.
I doubt it. When a rookie comes in and is batting clean up in his second game and then his 3rd, I think he is staying there until he plays his way out of it. .
Guess I was rong!! Counsell really changed the line up for tonight.
That lineup isn't going to scare anybody. Look how many players are in the lineup that we never expected to be.
7 hits, no runs through 5. Two guys thrown out on the base paths.
The Brewers have won 8 of the last 11 despite scoring 34 total runs in that stretch.
Scoreless through 5 tonight.
That 2 run HR in the top of the 9th looms large now. What a magic moment that Yelich HR would have been.

I would guess that the Reds would have approached pitching to him differently had he been the tying run.
Almost a great comeback, but all those empty trips the first 8 innings with runners on base and the two guys thrown out on the basepaths came back to bite them.
Big game tomorrow. Will either be up 1.5 or down half a game after tomorrow afternoon.
Another man stranded at 3B with one out early in the game. This offense can't miss those opportunities.
Attanasio is not serious about winning. I still think he will try to move the team as the stadium gets older. Itâs already been dinged by MLB for needing improvements. There are no big bats about to be acquired, and wouldnât count on keeping Burnes or Woody beyond this year. The young talent is nice, but they will move on when itâs time to pony up. Itâs amazing they have won as much as they have, really.
Another shake up in today's line up. Frelick back as clean up and Taylor in left and Toro at 1st.
Winker to DL with 'back spasms'. Which is code for 'you suck'.
The Brewers inability to get runners home from third with less than two outs is staggering.

When you have 4 guys in the lineup batting less than 210, you are going to fail to advance runners a lot.
Adams (207), Turang (205), Wiemer (205), Taylor (149). That's a lot of easy outs.

Code for "we'll clear you from the roster and open up a spot for someone useful, but we don't want to release you and have you end up back with Reds"

And then, Taylor hits a 2 run home run. Maybe not an easy out today.
Reds clearly don't want to have Yelich face a right hander here in the 7th. Over the last 3 years, most teams wouldn't have bothered to make the switch. 2023 Yelich is at least a reasonable facsimile of 2018/19 Yelich
Solution - keep runners off 3rd and knock them in while on 1st or 2nd.
But enough negativity - this pitching staff has been amazing.
Another great win and pitching result.
Donât want to be a downerâĶ.listened to Ueck call the last couple innings and he said something that might be a hint. He was amazed weâre done with the Reds this year and he said to their announcers, âThis may be the last time.â
Hopefully not. Hope he does it til heâs 100.

This is the most âWisconsin fanâ thing someone can post
The Brewers have had a fantastic season when you look at how many players they were counting on that haven't contributed much. Peralta has been up and down, Miley has missed several starts, and Woodie and Lauer have missed almost the entire season.
Tellez and Adames have had off years while Taylor and Urias have done nothing.
Defense, relief pitching, and many players stepping up when given the opportunity has kept the Brewers in 1st place.
If Woodie comes back strong and Tellez swings his way out of his funk it's like adding 2 major players at the trade deadline.
