While the challenge was not the best decision there, the penalties were a bigger factor in the loss. The article does mention the penalties but to me they are putting too much on the challenge as factor in losing the game. Maybe Thompson could send all of next years picks to NE for Belichick.
Billy B would be a fine choice. After all who doesn't like going for a 4th down inside your own 30 instead of punting with 3 timeouts remaining.

I would like to believe that was the reason but I think it is more about what he has lost, i.e. tons of coaching staff and management that are now dispersed around the league.

I think his foot was actually above the line and out of bounds but when it got to the point of touching the ground the foot came back towards in bounds and then touched the ground in bounds.
Good picture, Buford. I definitely thought his foot touched before ESPN showed a perfect angle with the foot cleanly inbounds.
Don't know if the flag was thrown before that view was available to the coaches, but I wasn't upset with the challenge at the time. If there is a shred of doubt about a call that is going to essentially end a game, I think its worth the gamble.

Is there any angle of the Woodson second almost pick? I know against the Bears you have to have possession while trying to get up
but it seemed to me he caught the ball. But then again, I thought the first one was good before the replay.

Are you talking about the Collins pick on the holding play just before the 2 minute? Collins grabs it cleanly, takes two steps, gets a knee on the ground and it looks like the ball squirts out after that.

That was Collins too? I guess it happened so fast and the knuckleheads on ESPN didn't say much because well Jaws hates the Packers/Rodgers.

If I remember, that one would have worked against us as I think the Bears recovered. So it would have been ruled an interception by us, a fumble, and a Bear recovery with a first down.

Tough to tell from the video since th audio is very faint, but the ball is recovered by the Packers for a good second or 2 before there is a whistle and before there is a signal that it was incomplete. That was 4 or 5 seconds after Collins "dropped" the pass. The ref running in didn't wave his hands or blow the whistle until it was clear the Packers had the ball.

All this focus on the challenge ignores the main beef I have with the entire thing. Jones should have held onto the ball!! You can't give it up that easy. Secure the ball, damnit.
The point everyone is ignoring the ref took his hat off and threw it down. What does that usually mean? That a player was OUT OF BOUNDS!!! It was not a bean bag to mark the ball, but his hat. And look where the ref is looking, not at Urlacher or Briggs, but at Jennings. Even the ref thought he was OUT OF BOUNDS!!!

If you're justifying the red flag, I would have to respectfully disagree. 99.7% of Joe Sixpacks out there knew to not challenge that play. The Packers need to fix this. This isn't like cleaning up the special teams or reducing pass interference calls. This isn't rocket surgery! Every team in the league should be nearly perfect on these challenges. No excuse.
Yes, Jones needs to secure the ball. This guy isn't a rookie any longer. It wasn't like a freak helmet shot to the pigskin. That's what I consider a weak fumble.
He let up and relaxed before he was out of bounds, assuming the Bears would do the same. Mental error, unacceptable from the vet.

He (Jennings) was never out of bounds which is obvious. Watching it in real time and not slowed down I think he's throwing his hat because Jones went out of bounds. He also throws his hat right near where Jones went out. Please don't tell me you're justifying the challenge.
I stand corrected ammo. Teams should not be nearly perfect, but they should be nearly perfect on that type of call, one that is cut and dry. That's what I was trying to say.

Yet, Lovie Dovie challenged the catch on the 1 that was so obvious, they Ray Charles could've seen the jersey being touched. Complain about MM but Lovie is about as dumb as the come.

Really? It took me until the super slo-mo to see the stripes of his jersey moving, and that was when the announcers pointed it out. I thought Lovie was going to win that one.
I don't disagree that Lovie is as dumb as they come!!
