Just a reminder that game threads are no longer allowed on x4. If you're watching the game & want to talk about it, use the chat room. That's why it's there.

Yes it's Wednesday & I'm still hot.

EDIT: Now that the real refs are back I will allow the game threads again.

My apologies for not making it clearer on Friday or Saturday.

Is it ok to talk to myself during the game, I mean verbally just say "hey derps, what did you think of that play?"
BTW - game threads should be booted anyway. There is no bigger display of stupidity, monkey poop fights, people eating their own crap and asinine self-immolation than those things.

Good riddens.
My main issue with the chat room is there are no censors at least in the past and with children that can read I don't want them seeing what is posted there. until this week there was no problem with that on the game thread.
@ CHEEZE: Game day threads are notorious for exactly what JJSD described. They're worthless for the most part and invite dumdums like kworst to show up on cue and stir everybody up. I agree with Boris' decision.

As for chat, children can find a helluva lot worse things on the internet other than what you'll find in chat, which might be a f-bomb or two on occasion. Besides, allowing a child to visit a chatroom or not, is a parental problem, not a X4 problem.

Yeah, and the troll from the North - Boris, why did you ever think to let Assony Dillweed back here? all he was trying to do was stir the pot.

I did not say I let my kids in the chat room but they are around when the games are going on. If I am in the chat room and the other bombs not just the f one pops up and one of my kids happens to be walking by, I cannot control that. It really does not matter but it is why I will not be in any chat room and I will miss the game threads.
t least the chat room stuff generally cycles quick enough to be gone in moments, the game thread stuff sits on yoiur screen at least until you refresh it and that's only if you hit a moment of a flurry of posts.
How am I going to get my insightful comments such as "Great play by Clay, this guy's for real", "DROPPO needs to make that fuggin' catch", or "I can't believe Rodgers threw a pick there"?

I may just have to sign up for a MySpace account, to memorialize my brilliance in real time.
I had always wondered why the chat room wasn't utilized more for games other than Packers, and had assumed it was just a tradition for the really old-timers. Or that not everybody was a loser like me with no life. Frowner
In any case, I'm glad to see it. It can be rough to try to slog through 8,9,10 pages of stuff.
Cheeze, I know it's likely little to no consolation, but the censor does catch the worst stuff. No doubt words do get through, especially in the emotional moments of a game, but there is a bit of protection. You probably know, but there is the 'eraser' button that you could use to quickly erase the screen if/when the need arises.

Boris, Rusty, and any other mods, if I could make one request for the chat room, it would be to moderate the fighting and personal attacks when they inevitably happen. It would help with the basic complaint that Cheeze has, would make the chat more relevant to football, and would also make the chat flow and read better. JMHO; please consider. And thanks!

Go f yerself, punk.
Just my two cents (probably what it's worth) but the bigger problem on the board, imo are the personal attacks/lame jokes that derail nearly every thread and steer everything off topic. It makes it near impossible to have a football discussion when there's two pages of garbage that have nothing to do with what the thread was originally about.

If there was a separate board where you could cut the chaff from the threads and let the folks who want to continue their mindless banter there it would do wonders to raise the level of discourse.

It's discouraging to try to start a conversation and watch it turn into a mess within 4 posts. I know it personally keeps me from investing time in starting new topics and I doubt I'm the only one.

That said I appreciate all the effort you put into keeping this place going Boris. I can see how it can become a headache.
why is a thread about a packers game banned? it doesnt make any sense to me, this is a packers message board. im usually working during the games and have to dvr them. i like to read thru the game threads for peoples reactions and opinions.
What are the minimum versions of Flash and Java needed to run the chat room? I downloaded the latest versions of both, and that didn't work. I tried on a different computer, and none of the browsers on that computer could get into the chat room either. (I was logged into x4 on the browser in question every time I tried to log into the chat room.)
