The more I think about it, if a leopard was smart enough to paint spots on his spots (or around his spots, not clear), then wouldn't he be smart enough to use a paint that didn't wash off in the rain?  Or even more likely, wouldn't he be bright enough to seek shelter if it were going to rain?

Wikipedia is just not helping me here.

But, it wasn't and so no doubt, one whopper of a bad trade.

I think this thread just took a turn at the corner of intriguing and deeper discussion.

For a second. Let's set waterproof paint aside and ponder why a leopard would paint spots? Why not something more concealing like camouflage?  Or even better, why not paint yourself to look like a common springbok and then blend in with other springbok's for an effortless snack?

lol truly damaged goods

@RapSheet: The #Seahawks received a conditional 6th round pick in 2015 that can become a 4th rounder in exchange for new #Jets WR Percy Harvin.

Sharper was with them from '05-'08. He was in New Orleans when Moss briefly returned to Minnesota in 2010. They did have all the rest of them on the roster at the same time in 2010, though. Bryant McKinnie is probably another guy who is worth mentioning in that group, too. He has a very bad reputation both on and off the field. Everson Griffen was on that team too, another model citizen.

If a leopard painted itself to look like a springbok, wouldn't it at that point simply become a springbok if it did a good job on the painting?  After all, if it walks like a springbok, talks like a springbok, looks like a springbok... a bear ****s in the woods wearing the pope's hat.  Or something.

I'm learning a lot today.  Thanks.

Eric Decker isn't a pussy like Golden Tate.  If Perce tries that tough guy nonsense with him he'll get his ass kicked.

Seattle made a mistake signing the guy but they got a ring out of it and Schneider can still draft like a mofo.   That team is set up for the long haul and I hope when TT decides to hang it up they get JS back.

Seattle got to a SB without Harvin. Seattle wins the Super Bowl without Harvin. Schneider got taken to the wood chipper by Rick Speilman.

Schneider has to cycle through a couple roster turnovers and manage the cap well before we can grade him out as an above average GM. Having $7.2 million cap hit in 2015 for a guy not on the team that cost you 3 draft picks when you have a stable full of talent coming up for extensions isn't questionable GM work. It's plain ****ty GM work. Let's see how he manages the next 2-3 years.

Epitome of Peter King suck-up:

@SI_PeterKing: Percy4: Jets have a 10-game trial with immensely talented player. They have a good mentor type in Vick for Harvin. Good move by Idzik.

The next time Spielman gets over on Schneider will be the first time.  Was it a bad move?  Sure.  But the Seahawks could tank the next decade worth of draft picks and still have a better chance at a ring than the Queens.

I would not bet against the Hawks

Are we sure Schneider was the one responsible for the trade with the queens? As I understand it Carroll is ultimately in charge of the hags and in a nutshell Schneider does PC's bidding, could be rong though. But, perhaps it was good old PC telling Schneider to git r done regarding Percy?

Yeah I'm sure all Percy has been missing this whole time has just been a mentor to guide him in the right direction. Brilliant stuff Peter King. Mike Vick seems like the perfect person to be a mentor...said no one ever,

This is probably John Idzik and Rex Ryan's attempt at a hail mary to salvage their season. Bring in the ultra talented player for cheap because we can mentor him to be a game changing playmaker he's capable of being. The problem is the Vikings had the same thought when they drafted him and then the Seahawks had the exact same thought when they traded for him,,,along the way everyone has convinced themselves that they can steer him in the right direction and they can turn him around. Urban Meyer probably had the same thought and probably the only he could control him (if you can even say he did that) was to constantly remind him that being a psychopath is the quickest way to lose an NFL payday, which was probably the same logic he used on Aaron Hernandez, Ray McDonald and the Pouncey brothers.

Schneider has been a GM for 4 years and has won a Super Bowl. Completely turned the Hawks roster over through some great drafting, both in the early and late rounds. Used free agency to his benefit too. Pretty sure he's doing ok.

4 years isn't ****. He drafted his guys to replace former GMs team. His picks have to be paid now. Not saying he's not good. Just not enough time has passed to see how he manages a roster long term. Harvin debacle the first misstep. Not easy to stay near the top of this league for 6 plus years. Let's just see how he does before we crown his ass.

Bad? It was a terrible move. Doesn't mean Spielman is better than Schneider but in this particular trade he was taken to the woodshed. I don't give Spielman much credit for cutting losses with an obvious head case but Schneider should and will take a lot of heat over this one.

You don't piss away that kind of money and those draft picks and not have to explain yourself.

A SB win gets you a lot of leeway and I don't see Schneider receiving much heat for the Harvin mistake. He's the choice of many Packer fans to replace TT and that alone is reason enough to carefully scrutinize his record. He wasted cap space and numerous draft picks on a head case with an injury history and I'm sure it's a move he'd prefer to forget about.

Ron Wolf made a number of blunders in free agency and in choosing to resign some of his players.  Still, he was an outstanding GM by most accounts as is Schneider.

Spielman has not made many good decisions at all and the Vikings have paid for it-  literally and figuratively.   The Harvin trade was a good move but let's not forget they still spent a first round pick on the guy to begin with.   Maybe they didn't know he was a turd coming out of Florida but I think they did and took that risk because of his talent.

Per Rapoport. Seattle had been shopping Harvin for weeks. One of the deals they worked was Harvin to Cleveland for Jordan Cameron. Glad Cleveland didn't bite.

Other teams checking in on Percey, Colts, Broncos, Bucs. Jets made the best offer.

Of course especially with him {allegedly } fighting with #3

Really glad they didn't get Cameron.

2 teams suspiciously absent from that list. Dallas - Patriots

Schneider asked Denver to send them Julius Thomas for Percey. I imagine that call lasted a few seconds fewer than the Cleveland call.

Starting to sound like Schneider got pretty deep into a Herschel Walker documentary recently.

This is sometimes referred to as "moving the goalposts."

This was the time to make a Harvin move. The cap hit next year isn't too bad and after that, nada. He rolled the dice and it paid off minimally, but the debit was one he could afford to make.

The trade I'd like to see is TT trading Schneider his WR scouting reports for Seattle's linebacker ones.

No biggie, Chilli, but my point is that crowning someone seems to denote a higher level of quality than grading someone out as an above average GM.

I think it is a done deal that Schneider is an above average GM.  Look how many teams don't even sniff a Super Bowl.
