Man, father time whooped Peyton's ass the moment it hit December. Dude looks washed up out there

looks like a game manager dinking and dunking with his noodle arm.

Couldn't see either of these teams winning @ NE. Denver has a better all around roster, but Luck provides a bigger threat than this version of Peyton. Pats should win comfortably either way

In the following weeks the Bronco brain trust is going to have to have some awkward conversations.  When do you pull the plug?  Is Peyton still the unquestioned starter for another year?  Can you have an open competition between Manning and Osweiller next season?  If you do, how do you avoid a fan revolt?  Is Osweiler the QB of the future, or do you look at spending a high draft choice on a rookie QB? ...

Not a Peyton fan - never been one actually.  The guy has been heaped with so much praise but is truly one of the biggest chokers in NFL playoff history.

I do hate the Broncos- their cheating asses and the way they rubbed SB 32 in everyone's faces.  Good riddens is right

Could we see a repeat of TT/MM/TOG only the cast of characters will be Elway/Fox/Manning?

Why is it a thing here to dislike all things Peyton Manning?

I mean, I get the Brady/Belichick hate, because they're arrogant, dirty cheaters. I don't really see why a lot of people here go out of their way to downplay the career of one of, if not the best quarterbacks in the history of the game in Manning, however.

He's had a whole bunch of brutal playoff losses, and there are still a lot of commentators who get nearly apoplectic if you suggest that Manning might have had something to do with the loss.  I'm reminded of the Baltimore game two years ago where Manning had a pick-6 early on, and a second INT in overtime.  But to hear the commentators, the only reason the Broncos lost was a busted coverage at the end of regulation.

His constant bitching has also, I think, led to rules changes that have skewed the game even more to the offense; look at the bitching after the 2004 AFC Championship Game for example.  I'm also reminded of a preseason game against the Packers where the league was moving the umpires to behind the QB to make it safer for the umpire, and Peyton complained about how it made it tougher to run his offense properly.  So the league promptly adjusted by having the umpire only be behind the QB in the red zone.

And then there's this petty story.

Peyton is done.  I heard it all month in Denver, with about 50% thinking he's done and 50% thinking it's part of the game plan to run the ball more and "rest" Peyton in December.  He was flat out awful today and I'd be surprised if they bring him back (unless there was an injury they were hiding that will be fixed by next July).  He reminded me of Favre in the 2007 NFCC; just an old guy in a cold playoff game that just couldn't play with the younger guys.

If Elway was smart, they'd cut bait and save $16.5m in cap room to sign D Thomas, J Thomas, O Franklin, G Vasquz, R Moore and T Knighton.  The window is closed with Peyton, time to move on.

I don't really see why a lot of people here go out of their way to downplay the career of one of, if not the best (regular season) quarterbacks in the history of the game in Manning, however.

FTFY.

I think Mannings great career is done.  It's clear his physical tools have diminished to a point where he is a shell of himself.  I hope he realizes that now and moves on rather than sticking around.

Even tho I'm not much of a Manning fan I remember watching both Bart Starr and John Unitas look terrible in their final seasons.  Both should have quit long before they did. I don't want to see Manning do the same.

Interesting hearing this now

Should sound familiar to Packer fans.

Yep. It is strange how quick it can happen. Last year he's the MVP, and early on this season, he looked like he still had it.

He's probably at the point where he'd be alright for the first few games after a long offseason of rest and rehab, but also where he'd inevitably physically wear down as the season rolls on. It would be a good idea for him to call it a day, IMO.

Broncos gambled on Peyton and it ultimately didn't work out. As far as teams mortgaging their future for a championship, I think Elway and the Broncos did it as good as could be done. They did get to the big stage, at least. Most times we see a team try something like this it ends a hell of a lot worse. I'll still take our organization's approach any day of the week, however.

But like Peyton, he suddenly couldn't handle the cold, or any adverse weather conditions.  See the 2006 game at Chicago.
