It diminishes their joy without them even knowing it. They have to overcompensate with materialistic overconsumption, shelling out money for ridiculous gadgets that never truly fulfill the desire; the desire to not be a loser.

I would call 0-4 a tradition of losing in the Super Bowl. Now rooting for your team to get there so they can get their arse kicked is a little weird.
