Good point from AR. A victory Sunday night and they likely won't have to go back in the postseason. Good to see the team acknowledge just how big the game is. Biggest one since the team played the Falcons for the right to go to the Super Bowl.
TE Robert Tonyan, in pads today, told me he's finally ready to go. He's been out since the Oct. 6 game at Dallas with a hip injury. He's practiced a couple times in pads since then, but this time he says he's good to go.

I do remember the 89 game. That was one of those cardiac Pack games, down to the wire. It was absolutely tragic that team didn't make the post season.
Gonna bump this about the 96 NFC playoff game vs SF cuz it's feeling left out. Things I forgot about that game.
Young exited early with rib injury, Grbac played all but first 2 series.
Bryant Young ended up taken off the field on a stretcher and sent to the hospital.
Terrell Owens played in that game! I thought he was a rookie in that 99 NFCCG.
Stockton sounded almost disappointed on calling Howard's punt return TD. No excitement for the play whatsoever.
That's just the first half.
I have not yet made up my mind as to how good this team is. I will get a big clue this weekend.
Running back Matt Breida (ankle) and defensive end Dee Ford (hamstring) were among the 49ers going through rehabilitation work on a side field. Coach Kyle Shanahan said earlier this week he anticipates Ford missing multiple games due to his condition. Breida could be a game-time decision.
Tight end George Kittle returned to the practice field on Thursday, a sign he could also return to the 49ersโ lineup Sunday night to face the Green Bay Packers.
Kittle has not practiced since sustaining left knee and ankle injuries on Oct. 31 against the Arizona Cardinals. On Thursday at practice, he wore a blue jersey, signifying that he was off-limits for physical contact.
Rookie wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who experienced a shoulder injury on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, also was spotted at practice wearing a blue jersey. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders did not appear to be practicing, but he is expected to be available to face the Packers as he nurses a ribs injury

Iโm not encouraging dirty play. But if the opportunity presents itself, I would ring up ( make em pay) Samuel or Sanders. All in the interest of fair play.
Deebo's Mom has a very small cleaning company here, she cleans the breakrooms / bathrooms / office area of our plant and warehouse. Good people.
Hopefully that will have minimum impact on the game.

If we had a injured player they would go after him. Same in this instance.
Greg Williams would. Jim Schwartz would. (edit for accuracy) Mike Zimmer would.
It's football, people get tackled a lot so I'm sure Sanders will feel a tickle in his ribs when he's hit.
Should the Packers hang a "SWEEP THE LEG" banner in the locker room?
Just play football -- stop all that extra curricular crap. That's what the Vikings do.
Exactly. It's not to say teams don't know what players are injured but they're factoring what the player can't do as well with the injury not inflicting more injury.

Mickey Thomas was most excellent and should have been a solo star.
His 'Fooled around and fell in love' with Elvin Bishop was a classic.

I was optimistic about our chances Sunday night until I read this.
Heard this morning some "experts" think the weakest part of the Niners is their QB. I disagree.
IMO the weakest part of the Niners is their DB's. Problem is, you can't get to them because their front 7 is so good.
Well....I have a hunch that's going to change on Sunday Night.
Matchups people.....it's about matchups.
Welp, kid was basically red shirted all year. Im sure he'll come back strong and raring to go in 2020.
Tough break for Cole Madison, who came back to make the team this year after sitting out his whole rookie year to work on his mental health. He's going to need knee surgery after getting hurt in practice yesterday.

Damn. Here's hoping he recovers fully.
GB's win or loses this game because of how the offensive line plays. That's true in most games, but particularly this one. Protecting one Aaron and opening holes for the other will be the reason GB wins.
On that topic... If GB wins, they go to the #1 seed in the NFC for the time being. A SF loss and a Seattle win puts SF at the #5 seed. It's a crazy league.
Agree regarding the o-line. They need to show up.
Yup....was just listening to Niners podcast. As we suspected, they've been holding out Kittle for this game.
Good. I wouldn't want it any other way. To be the man.....you gotta BEAT the man!!
Can't gambol, NFL owner. Packers will beat the 9ers.
Relax, you can gambol.
Blake covering Kittle. Norv Pettine needs to get creative.
All-Time -- Pack is 36-30-1 vs. Niners
Packers are 15-5 in last 20 games including playoffs.

i remember all too well the Charles Martin stigma from my youth.
