@H5 posted:Take the ball and score. Make SF chase GB.
Run, run some more. Anything to get the ball out fast. With Jenkins gimped, it could be a long day otherwise. Lewis is going to be needed badly.
I am not holding my breath GB wins on Sunday but the 9ers are banged up beyond RB. DL Givens is now out with a high ankle sprain, Trey Sermon has a concussion and may not play, DL Arik Armstead is dealing with an adductor injury and will be less then 100 percent. Jason Verrett, the 49ers best Corner, is out for the season.
The Packers like last week, HAVE to stick to the run game. Even if it's slow going, especially early on. I think MLF is smart enough to know this. I'd love to see Hill get more into the mix as well, kid brings a nice change of pace vs Dillon

Oxymoron.
Run or pass, take advantage of the defense called. The Packers have enough offensive talent to dictate the game flow.
I know it was DET, but against the 2 high look the Packers ran well and threw a lot of quick/underneath stuff. Both options loosened up the back end.
Weβve beaten the 49ers a couple of times at San Fran in the past decade but I am not optimistic about this week. I think their offensive line will whip our front 7 badly.
I picked the 49ers.
Kenny Clark has accounted for 80% of Green Bay's interior pressures through two games.

His 8 pressures make him 4/120 eligible IDL in the NFL.
For the math wizards, that is right - the rest of GB's IDL group has accounted for TWO pressures.
Not good enough.
In short, Lancaster and Lowry=useless. Can Slaton and Heflin be any worse??
Packers back in pads (and π₯) and only missing Elgton Jenkins (ankle) and Marcedes Lewis (veteran rest day).

Probably not worse, but possibly equally as useless? If nothing else, theyβre younger with some possible upside. Thereβs no upside for the current guys.
I've got the Niners on the MoneyLine this week.
My record this year after 2 weeks = 1-1
The Niners have not given up a sack this year. Who thinks that record goes through week #3 untouched?
The last 3 times these 2 teams have played each other, we've seen 3 blowouts. 2 by the Niners. Is it possible we will see a good game this time??
Prediction 31-20 Niners

I thought Barry's scheme (3 times removed) was about linemen playing one gap, which is an easier learning curve. Not sure you can run an effective one gap in a 3-4 but terminology seems to be pretty flexible when it comes to defense.
Point being, a one gap scheme should be ideal for Slaton's skillset. Heflin looked like he did a good job penetrating the line in pre-season but that doesn't really tell you much.
Honestly, I can't make heads or tails of this defense. I keep seeing the word "freedom" in the decision making on the players part and it looks like a convoluted mess instead.
It has been my experience that unless you have a lot of "high specific sport IQ" guys (ala Charles Woodson) ....freedom=mistakes

If they do decide to adopt the offense first plan they should be starting literally every game with the ball. If the other team wins the toss they are likely going to defer like 98% of all coin tosses. The Monday game was one of those rare games where the team (Det) won the toss and took the ball.

I'm coming around to believe there will be an inspired performance by Newman, Meyers and Runyon, which will let Dillon pound and Jones to scat back along with some good numbers for the beefy boys, Lewis and Dafney.
I don't care if it's grind the ball on long drives or a full Fouts/Dickey bombing campaign. Less defense is good defense.
I just shot up with hopium.
and am I outta town thinking Runyon kinda reminds me of DIII Jesus??? I know no long hair is obvious, but he reminds me of him, body type perhaps?? I really like him, but wish we did have DIII back. π’
