Not worthy of a thread of its own (yet?):

Guess we may find out more at MM's Monday presser.

Per the GBPG:

The Green Bay Packers released tight end Ryan Taylor on Monday, according to a league source.

A seventh-round pick out of North Carolina in 2011, Taylor played 50 games for the Packers with eight catches for 45 yards and a touchdown, but was known more for his special-teams acumen.

He played in five games this season with all 10 of his offensive snaps coming in Thursday's 42-10 win over Minnesota.

Edits:

@jasonjwilde: I did not see this coming. Guessing he didn't, either. Wow.

Maybe they bring up the rookie from Maine, Justin Perillo, who's been on the PS. Probably the best hands of any of the TEs on the roster.

Whoa, that is shocking.

@RobDemovsky: Practice squad TE Justin Perillo said he has not been told anything about a possible promotion to fill Ryan Taylor's roster spot.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything. Haven't had any practices yet this week. Plus last week Luther Robinson wasn't called up until noon on the day of the Vikings' game. Something has to be going on behind the scenes, though, guess we'll find out at some point. TT loves him some stealth!

In four seasons with the Packers Taylor made eight receptions for 45 yards and one touchdown. He also made 14 career tackles on special teams.

While Taylor provided depth, he was a replacement-level player on both offense and special teams. Of his 10 offensive snaps this season, every one of them came in the most recent win over the Minnesota Vikings after the outcome of the game had already been decided..

While Andrew Quarless and Richard Rodgers have received most of the playing time at the tight end position on offense, it appeared as if Taylor had fallen behind fellow tight end Brandon Bostick on both offense and special teams.

Now the Packers have released Taylor, they have one opening on their 53-man roster as well as two on the practice squad, and it would seem likely that they start filling at least some of those holes before they return to practice on Wednesday.

Two names that keep surfacing are those of former Packers players Jermichael Finley and Johnny Jolly, both of whom are free agents.

The positions they play are seemingly in need of depth.

The release of Taylor leaves one less player at tight end, while injuries to defensive linemen Datone Jones and Josh Boyd, leave a question mark along the defensive line, at least temporarily.

Right, their names keep coming up alright, in the media.

Meanwhile back in reality, the Packers and their doctors have already said no to both.

"Finley has been eerily quiet on twitter lately."

If anything, that indicates broken fingers.   If there was a chance of him landing a contract he would be pounding that keyboard and chest in typical J-mouth fashion.

Doesn't seem that way this year:

@RobDemovsky: R. Taylor played 65.6 percent of the special teams snaps last season. This year, he was at 42 percent before being released today.

Okay, here we go

@TyDunne: WR Kevin Dorsey has signed with the #Packers, according to the NFL transaction wire. Boykin battling groin injury.

@TyDunne: Green Bay has also signed Utah State DB Tay Glover-Wright to the practice squad, with Dorsey getting the call up.

@RobDemovsky: Dorsey actually got a lot of time on special teams in training camp.

Dorsey gets the call up, not Myles White who actually played a bit last year. Makes sense, Dorsey is bigger and would play a more physical role of STs than stringbean White could.

One spot still open on PS, may have been filled:

@WesHod: GB had spot open on practice squad MT @FXFL Brooklyn Bolts OL Jordan McCray has signed with the #NFL Green Bay @Packers. Congratulations!

McCray was in camp with the Packers this summer, cut on August 30.  UFDA from UCF, 6-3, 322

I wouldn't be surprised if it's DLine help.  They are running on scrubs.

They have been since training camp though.

Some teams run a 4-3, some a 3-4, Green Bay's running a scrub-slow.

To me, the only way you stop Rodgers is consistently get a pass rush with only 4 guys, and don't make coverage mistakes on the back end.  There aren't many teams that can accomplish that, but it does happen now and then as Detroit surprisingly showed us a few weeks ago.  It wasn't surprising that Detroit got pressure with just 4 guys, but the biggest surprise was that they didn't bust any coverages with all the substitutes forced to play in their defensive backfield.

Can Miami get to Rodgers with just 4 guys?  If not, then they should be worried about him.

Dolphins offense is weak and won't be able to play catch up. Use screens to Lacy to slow down the rush, short move the chains passes, clear out the safety with Janis' speed on a go route. get up early, watch the Fins Flounder.

From the link SJ shared:

The list of quarterbacks the Dolphins have beaten is impressive. It includes Indianapolis' Andrew Luck, Atlanta's Matt Ryan, Cincinnati's Andy Dalton, San Diego's Philip Rivers, Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger, and New England's Tom Brady (twice).

Which of these is in the same category as Rodgers for mobility?

I would say Luck & Big Ben a little bit. They both extend plays well. Other than that? Nobody.

Get the lead to neutralize the Dolphin running game, The Dolphins will turn it over to our defense. Game over.
