Fffffffew
That was a scary 9th
Wow.
Williams gets a save, but leaves the bases loaded. A hit, 2 walks and 3 Ks. Crew wins 1-0.
Quite the dual between Alcantara and Burnes. Given how they lost the game before it would have been a disaster had Williams not slammed the door shut. But he made it interesting.
Would not shock me to see the last WC spot come down the the last game of the season. Seems like it’s headed that way. Thankfully if it does we go with Burnes again.
I didn’t think we’d beat Alcantara so that makes up for the Thursday night mess. Glad Burnes was dealing it last night. Can we hope the Nats split a DH with Philly today?
Remnants of Ian causing rain delay in game 1. Looks like it could be off and on showers all day in D C.
With this forecast Wed might not be the end of the regular season for the Phillies.
Nats now up 10-4 Nats soon to bat in the 8th.
Now 13-4 right on Nats !
Nats take game 1 of the double header. Today is our chance to get that #3 wild spot.
The door is open.
Remember. Crew needs to finish ahead of Philly, so need to win 2 have have them lose 1.
If Phillies lose game 2 and we win Brewers are 1 up. All they have to do is win again Sunday and win out vs. D-backs to take the 3rd spot.
Brewer pitchers next 5 games. Tonight Ashby: Sunday the dreaded undecided probably bullpen game: Monday Woodruff, Tuesday Lauer, Wed Burnes.
Well that didn’t help
Get those runs back offense
For the love of God take the stink off the Badgers football program. Make it happen Brewers
Got 1 back. Put up another 0, Ashby
We’re still behind at this point, but I just have to say Marlins batters - You got Gott!
I’m liking the ability to play small ball
It's up to the Bullpen now. Boxberger 1st, then Rogers? Suter? Topa?
Good question Ammo. I guess it depends on if we can get some insurance runs
Boxberger gets 3 fly ball outs to center throwing 12 pitches. I'd bring him back out for the 8th.
I like all 3, but Rogers is the only one with setup/closer experience. Sister is great anytime, but I would use him more as a multi inning or extra inning guy. Topa could be interesting.
Autocorrect 😡. Suter
That’s back to back AB where Rowdy and Hunter got back to back base hits. C’mon boys, drive ‘em in.
Bush? (Exhale) Ok, he’s due for a good one.
Apparently CC knows what he’s doing putting in Bush as setup man
Shit.
Fat Lady warning up.
Well. Try again tomorrow.

Yep. Two gut punches in a very short time period.
Williams is just not ready to be a closer. You just can't miss by as much as he does and be an effective closer. Should have used Boxberger in the 8th and bush in the 9th especially after the performace by Williams last night.
Top of the order coming up. Adames is way way way overdue. Back to back by Adames and Tellez!!!
Beyond the obvious poor job by Williams, leaving 7 runners on in innings 5-7 let the Marlins hang around.

Good thing they got a guy back in the Hader trade in Taylor Rogers that could help a little bit this season. (SARCASM)
Why not bring him in after Williams struggled last night? Is he hurt?
Gasser and Ruiz better be really good.
CC needs to do some real soul searching as to how he uses his bullpen. Yet this season but even more for next year. Inexcusable the way he used them tonight when you consider how things went last night.
Agreed. Willliams wasn’t ready for another nail biter save. Gott, Boxberger, and surprisingly Bush all had good innings. Any one of them should have been able to go 2. While it’s tricky to anoint someone as closer and then take it away, a day of rest probably been good.
Tough day, sports fans. Outside state teams, my alma mater MTSU, my Dad’s alma mater ISU and Missouri all took an L. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I almost always lean on "trade the closer before it's too late", but mid season when you are in first place is still super odd (and I had hopes for a higher return, except the whole baseball world probably thinks the same of relievers as I do). Hader has righted his ship after his fustercluck weeks and the Crew have lost waaaaaay to many games after the 8th inning.
