I missed seeing Jerry's speech when he did it.  But I watched it later on youtube.  I had a previously scheduled appointment with one of my children.  I think he nailed it.  I could listen to many HOF speeches like that one.  I did not listen to any of the others.  I expected Moss & TO to act like they played - when wanted to and like ****.  I'll quote Lombardi who after watching "the block" in the ice bowl said "good job Jerry!".

That Timmy, and I also think they don't understand that just because you come from poverty or don't have every advantage in the world, it doesn't mean you get to moon everyone or blow off the rules and expect everyone to understand/love you anyway. And you don't get to blame your actions on your childhood for the rest of your life either. There comes a time when you have to take responsibility for your own actions. You want folks to like you? Act like you respect them. You want to stay out of trouble? Follow the rules. etc.

I agree and I will add that you should act like you respect yourself.  If TO was serious in his stand, why did he not say what he said in Canton, where the voters were present.  Or better yet, go to Canton and have a behind the scenes meeting with the voters to talk about his issues.  But the fact he had to wait 2 years - which is what I think his issue was - is nothing compared to some (like Jerry) who had to wait much longer.  TO said he "deserved" it.  Based on his on field performance?  True his stats were there, but his on the field antics may have led me to not vote for him.  O based on his off the field issues and how well he represented the NFL - which I would use a criteria?  That right there would have led me to not ever vote for the guy.  He doesn't act like he respects himself.

Leroy Butler

Brian Dawkins is a fine safety, but he’s not Leroy Butler good.

Not sure when Charles Woodson is up for the HOF but you would have to think he should get in there pretty quickly.

I personally think Leroy Butler is a hall of famer but not sure he will get in.

Charles Woodson will be a 1st Ballot HOF. He's easily one of the 10 best defensive players ever. You could formulate a pretty decent argument he might be the best defensive player ever. Hard to come up with a DB that shut down receivers AND played the run AND took the ball away better than he did. Reggie and LT played closer to the ball and had more influence on every snap.

Charles is in that conversation though. And I will forever give Mike McCarthy credit for getting Charles on board.
