I am going to give this it's own thread. I just feel like at this point in A-Rod's career, he is bringing more drama and damage to any team vs helping it.

Gute truly did the ultimate GM move dumping AR on the 1 team who was willing to bring aboard that baggage.

Saleh was on thin ice before they brought in 12. A bigger mistake was hiring that clown Hackett. MLF made him look a lot better than he was...the guy is a lightweight.

Agree but of course, we all know who's idea and demand that truly was.

So stop me if y'all have heard this before. the current Jets offense is being ripped and labeled as stale, predictable and outdated. There are no pre-motion snaps, no jet sweeps, no creativity, nada.

After MLF was hired, Rodgers said openly that he did not like the pre-snap motions, reverses and much of the wrinkles that MLF had initially installed despite the fact they were working beautifully. So before Rodgers got traded, many watching the Packers offense in 2022 noticed it also had gotten somewhat stale, predictable etc.

Well, well. Look at the one common dominator in this whole thing:

I highly doubt Saleh had anything to do with hiring Hackett.

The crazy thing is they are 2-3 with two of those losses coming from MN and SF.  Yes you expect to win those games but this isn't a fireable record.   It's not like they are 0-5 with losses to the Browns and Jags or something.

If you are willing to fire a guy only 5 games into the season with that record why the hell was he your coach at all this year?? It's just beyond stupid.

Hackett was hired months before 12 was a Jet. Probably was hired with the hopes of luring 12 to the team, but a lot of other stuff had to happen for the trade to be made.

Just not a fan of the narrative that everything that goes wrong is 12's fault. Dude did a lot for this franchise as a football player. Never gonna be the guy that gets joy by shitting on him.

The irony in all of this is when you look at what ails the Jets, it's not the defense.  The Jets are 4th in sacks/pressures, 2nd in total defense, and 7th in points allowed.

And you just fired the guy mostly responsible for that. Meanwhile, the offense is hot garbage running a scheme that everyone's figured out for years now.

Actually there were 2 teams (Denver in March 2022) but that's another story for another time.

Wondering if Saleh gets a "consultant" role with Hafley? 🤔

Maybe Saleh wanted out. Maybe he had enough with the nonstop drama surrounding the Jets and ARod.

This is the most Jets thing ever.  You trade for an aging QB who is has been trying to weasel his way out of town.  Then it seems like #8 has very little respect for the HC so it becomes a situation where it's easier to fire the HC than it is to get rid of the QB.

They all keep getting paid after being fired.  Not a bad gig. In bed by 11. Dinner with family. And you still get the money.

Very true and you get to be away from arguably one of the all-time most dysfunctional teams in all of sports and take a deep breath and enjoy life for awhile.

I bet up in GB MLF hates seeing his very good friend fired but at the same time he has felt the pain of dealing with #8 and if probablly relieved for him.

I'm sure Saleh was on board with it but more non-committal if anything. Hack-It is supposed to be there to help Godgers.

@MikeSilver:  Robert Saleh plans to regroup, go on vacation with his family and prepare for the next hiring cycle, when he should be in demand as a defensive coordinator. He has no plans to join anyone's staff during the 2024 season, should an opportunity arise...

Sure he doesn't. Guy that was the best man at his wedding? Right.....yes he'll take a vacation.

About playoff time, he'll "get the itch" and help a certain defense in Green & Gold as a consultant. Eagles did this with Fangio when they were in the Super Bowl. Calling my shot RN.

MM and MLF are not perfect by any stretch. MM got stubborn with his schemes and MLF struggles to hire top tier coordinators. However, they are both successful NFL coaches who have succeeded (or at least gotten to the playoffs) with multiple QBs - MM (Favre/Rodgers/Prescott) and MLF (Rodgers/Love). Both are coaches that avoid drama and seem to have a handle on the locker room.

Rodgers had the same pattern with both of them. He was more on board for the first few years with MM and MLF and had success, but then became resistant to any coaching and just took over the offensive scheme. In both cases, the Packers underachieved in the final year with Rodgers. Favre followed a similar pattern after Holmgren, until MM came and he had one of his best years in 2007.

There are significant exceptions to QBs acting this way - Brady, P. Manning, and Brees are some. Brady is as arrogant as anyone, but he seemed to play within the schemes that Belichick or Arians developed. Manning won a Super Bowl as a game manager with the Broncos. Rodgers would never do what Manning did that year.

We'll see what happens with Mahomes once Andy Reid is no longer his coach. I think he has the traits to go the Favre/Rodgers route.

I am willing to give Hafley the year to see how the defense responds. It is a new system. There are times the defense looks good. Other times, not so good. I am most surprised by the lack of pressure on the QB when the feeling was that would be one of his strong suits. He appears to be better than the previous guy but that is such a low bar I am not sure that says a lot.

Read about two free agents that the Pats signed. The first film session they see Brady throw an INT., Belichick starts with "what the fuck was that? " they looked at each other saying "if he talks to Brady like this, what's he going to say to us?"

Droolers gotta Drool

Saleh wasn't a great coach, but part of that was his own making. Just like we all complained about what we perceived as Rodgers walking all over MLF, Saleh let him do the same to him. If Rodgers retires after this year, the Jets become better by subtraction.
