I remember when TT blew it letting Jumal Rolle slip through his hands too.

Obviously you've never dealt with athletes of this age span..... emotionally many of them are very immature and impressionable.

Comparing Rolle to Hayward? Come on, you're better than that.

As long as Tretter is better than Taylor, sure. My guess for how the line
My guess how the line evolves.
2017 might be
LT - Bahk
LG - Taylor
C - Tretter (resigned this season)
RG - Linsley (Lang walks in FA)
RT - Bulaga
2018 might be
LT - Spriggs (Not buult for right side)
LG - Taylor
C - Tretter
RG - Bulaga (Linsley walks in FA)
RT - Bahk (Keeps getting bigger and better in run)
Lang is a UFA after this year and Linsley is a UFA after 17. Bulaga, while he has a lot of miles on him, is signed through 2019 and would be a lot of dead money in 18 if cut.
Bulaga - http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/gre...s/bryan-bulaga-6532/
Spriggs and Murphy both looked good during TC. They will be looking for steady action before 2018.

"These two need to see the bench. This is not a knee jerk reaction to one game, it's been a problem throughout the season. Hayward I get since he has shown he can play slot CB but Hyde has struggled to cover TEs and RBs all season. If a DB can't cover TEs and RBs, they shouldn't see the field. Let Rollins, Gunter and Randall see the field before Hyde"
Hyde still sucks.
x4 never forgets...
Wow thanks for digging that up Chili. Couldn't have been easy. So I criticized Hayward a year ago so that means I'm stuck hating him forever. Got it.
You're right, I was very down on Hyde and Hayward after the Chargers game and then the Broncos game, especially Hyde. Rivers passed for 503 yards and a decrepit Peyton Manning had his best game of the season against the Packers. The pass defense was atrocious, including Hayward. I still stand by that post last year, Hayward and Hyde were flat out awful those two weeks and probably could have used a stint on the bench to get their heads right (they went on to lose 4 of 5 games after that Chargers game).
Sounds like Hayward has continued to improve. My stance hasn't changed since my earlier post in this thread: if Hayward is really playing this well on the outside right now, then TT made a mistake letting him walk for a 3 year, $15m contract. I get letting the young CBs step up but frankly, they haven't (outside of Randall's first game). They're getting lit up by Stefon Diggs and Marvin Jones - not exactly the cream of the WR crop. They're the weak part of the defense rght now and you don't think having Hayward for $5m would have helped?
All that aside, you compared Rolle to Hayward. Seriously, I know that you know these two players aren't comparable so not sure why you made the comparison.
I see a future with Linsley at C, Tretter at Guard, not the other way around.
Agree. I think Tretter's athleticism will be of more use at guard, being able to pull and get to the second level. Hopefully Linsley gets healthy as they really have no depth inside right now.
Agree, Tretter is much better when he is uncovered & can work on combo blocks, get out on LBers, etc. I am surprised that more teams are not putting a defender over him like Vikes did with Joseph at times.
My thought had been to beef up Murphy for a year or two and have him play guard, ala Sitton and Lang.
#Packers sign G Lane Taylor to 3-yr extension for $16.5M, source said. $5M signing bonus. $7.8M total in 2017. Nice for an underrated player

I hope 2 years from now we look back at this signing and marvel at what a steal he was at this contract. Certainly a reasonable deal even now.
Like this. Fair price.
Josh who?
Thanks Ted.
not a free agent
Next should be Corey Linsley.
@ByRyanWood: #Packers last 3 in-season extensions: Mike Daniels, David Bakhtiari, Lane Taylor. That's Rd 4, Rd 4, UDFA. Ted finding diamonds in the rough.
In the rough, in a barn, in an oyster... doesn't matter where he finds them, he just does.

Already think it is a steal.
Agree. He's proved all the doubters wrong, and I expect even better things from him this year.
Broncos paid Ronald Leary $32m for 4 years. He's a solid player and that's what solid OG get these days, $8m per year. Nice signing by Ted.
Now he can customize his own watercraft.
Solid player and an even better story. Guy nobody wanted is carving out a nice NFL career for himself. Similar to the deal Lang signed with the Packers in '12 and a bargain for the team.

Duh-vante also a FA next year...
Lane Taylor showing he's worth that contract.. 281/283 snaps this season (99.3%) - including a damn good job at left tackle last night https://t.co/5NqoK6JmE1

....and the best thing is, it was vs. The Bears!
Great job Lane!
Amazing this guy was a UDFA. I remember watching him at OK St and he looked like a solid Guard prospect. Not especially big or especially athletic, but it seemed like his technique was outstanding and he always handled his responsibilities. Glad we were able to get him and develop him.
What the OL has accomplished these last 2 games, warts and all, is pretty impressive. Even more so considering what some teams have not been able to do with their starting OL.
MVP last night: Campen. MASH unit saved lives.
The first time I remember seeing Taylor, he had to play heavily vs. the Saints in 2014 and I thought he looked completely overmatched. What a difference 3 years makes, last night he was excellent in that I never noticed him. I think the game plan helped him, but even when they did try to go downfield, I don't recall Taylor ever getting beaten on those plays either.
Rodgers' protection was pretty good, all night long, with four guards and a center as his O Line. I love the grit of this team.

Joe Thomas wouldn't have missed those two snaps.
Mark Tauscher was drafted in the 7th round in 2000 by the Packers. He was the 224 th player selected. 30 more players were drafted after him, only 2 being OL. So Tauscher was nearly a UDFA himself. He went on to have a pretty good career. Lane Taylor, this decades Mark Tauscher.
Corey Linsley is one of best centers in football... And Lane Taylor has been as valuable/ reliable as ANYONE on Packers over last 14months
