It seems to me that our Defense is not as good as advertised and our Offense is better than the stats show. R Rodgers is rediscovered. Special teams are better this year and give us better field position.

Aaron throws for 3 touchdowns and Mason kicks two FG's. Denver fights back hard but not enough to win.

GB 27-23

Write it down! Wait... I just did

I feel differently about our defense. I think we haven't even seen how good we will be. Morgan Burnett comes back tomorrow night. Look out.

This secondary is going to have a great game against Manning. I'm calling for 2 defensive scores by GB in a rout. I forget what my earlier prediction was... 42-13 or something along those lines, Packers win.

ammo, I totally dig that...

Burnett is good but not necessary to our pass defense. He is very good at the LOS. I think we miss Randall more than we gain with Burnett. I could see Rollins getting an int. yet he can be beat on the long ball where we would miss having Randall. Hyde seems to make a better Safety than a CB. Hayward is better in the slot. I am not sure about not having Raji to push the middle against their O-Line. Injuries on the defense are part of the reason I think that the defense just might underperform.

I believe that having Adams back will help our long ball throws better and see R-Rodgers winning the red zone for us. JJ will be back from his nagging hammie. Perhaps Eddie will tilt the field in our favor.

No.

A miracle is when your stage four liver cancer suddenly goes into remission, your neighbors cat starts reciting Shakespear, or Fedya tells a joke that rocks.

And two out of those three probably have a more mundane explanation.

OK, I guess my use of the word "miracle" made people freak out. It's unusual for a defense to not be gassed after failing to get anywhere near the QB in 3 quarters. Typically, they're going to be sucking wind and completely beaten down after having absolutely no success getting to him and he's thrown for a ton of yards. In games like that one, that's typically the point where an OL just starts imposing their will on a defense. Superior conditioning on the Packers defense? Inferior conditioning of a patchwork Chargers OL? Capers saw something late? Who knows, could have been any of them, or a combination of all three. Whatever the cause was, it was a pleasant surprise.

Somewhat similar story, only the Patriots weren't piling up anywhere near as many yards and pass attempts at the clip Rivers was (NE's offense had a total of 257 yards in that game, SD had 548 yards). NE's OL was sub-par going into that game, and the Packers were expected to dominate them from the start. Wasn't really surprising when they finally managed to turn it on in the fourth quarter of that game, particularly after Howard's return put them up by two TDs. Was a pleasant surprise when the Packers found a way to turn it on late in the last game. You generally expect guys to be completely exhausted at that point in a game like that one, where that many pass attempts and yards are piled up.

However, even MM admits Eddie is heavy, Starks is injured, Adams is iffy, and Montgomery is injured.

Shaping up like a close-fought defensive battle. Given that the Pack is 1-9 in their last 10 games on the road against teams that made the playoffs, I see a low-scoring loss in Denver.

Got to win in Carolina if we lose in Denver.

Well it was low-scoring ... for one of the teams.

And I stick by my going out on a limb/bold prediction that GB has got to win in Carolina after losing in Denver.
