Despite all the turmoil in much of our pandemic-dominated world some things, like the Pack featuring a sub-standard inside linebacker corps, never seem to change.
When the scout in the article says ... Campbell's βnot a great player ... but heβs probably better than what youβve had,β he could just as easily have been referring to Antonio Morrison in 2018, BJ Goodson in 2019, or Christian Kirksey in 2020.
The combination of a subpar DL, again featuring Lancaster & Lowry, and a group of ILBs recently ranked last in the NFL by PFF (before the big Campbell signing) portends yet another season of a less-than-Super Bowl-caliber Packer defense.
Not even "great" defensive coordinator like Joe Barry is going to be able to overcome this lack of DL & ILB talent -- a lack of talent that has been a staple of Packer rosters for over a decade now.
I love the lead in. Man, is it ever the off season.
Perhaps sixth-year pro De'Vondre Campbell will help the Green Bay Packers fix a longtime defensive weakness.
Perhaps I'll shit a diamond. Man that sounds uncomfortable.
Young linebackers never develop. It has never happened before.
Not if you stop shoving coal up your ass...
Don't judge me.
It is astounding how this organization continues to all but ignore it's biggest weakness on the interior of the defense while they continue to be gashed every year. One may have thought the SF blowout losses in 2019 would have made it pretty obvious that upgrades were needed. Apparently not as Lowry and Lancaster are still on the roster and we have invested slightly more than nothing in our ILB group.

I read an snippet from Dumb Gunt about the ILB position where he states they've been wanting to address the position but just never had the chance in the draft.
Okay.
Diamond studded pink feather.

Sure young INSIDE linebackers sometimes develop - even limited athletes with injury concerns who were taken in round 5 (Martin) and went undrafted (Barnes), respectively.
But NO INSIDE linebacker has developed sufficiently such that the Green Bay Packers have featured a Super Bowl contending defense since Desmond Bishop was finally allowed to see the field in 2010 - and then only because of Barnett's injury.
Alas, Bishop tore a hamstring and was never the same player afterwards leading to the Brad Jones, Terrel Manning, DJ Smith, Jamari Lattimore, Jake Ryan, Nate Palmer, et al. black hole at ILB over the last decade. (Not including poor Blake Martinez because he was at least decidedly average, nor AJ Hawk because ... well just because).
Then again, no INSIDE linebacker is likely to shine much when C.J. Wilson, Jerrel Worthy, Khyri Thornton, Datone Jones, Montravious Adams, LeTroy Guion, Quinton Dial, Ricky-Jean Francois, Tyler Lancaster, Dean Lowry and a host of other JAGS is what the organization has trotted out to play defensive line in front of them since 2010.
Front office has got to love Packer fans who remain hopeful this is the year it will finally all get turned around in the middle of the defense despite the team doing nothing more to improve the roster than adding yet another JAG veteran ILB (to replace the previous JAG veteran ILB who was cut) and a 5th round project to the DL (to replace the 3rd round project who was always, according to the front office and hopeful Packer fans, on the cusp of a breakout season).
Happy sleddin'.
How long has Dumb Gunt been here? That's a lot of picks.
Glad for some quicks and experience at ILB but there was a reason Campbell was still available.
At first I asked myself, why? But later I thought, why not? Let training camp sort it out. He does bring experience to the corps.
Why? Because Oren Burks is still on the roster.

Okay.
You can't blame Gutekunst when 2 other teams jumped ahead of him and drafted Patrick Queen and Jordyn Brooks in 2020
But Love was drafted aft...... ooooooooohhhhhhhh.......
Couldn't find diamonds...pearls will have to suffice
You look pretty in pearls.
I'm sure if you go through enough film you will find a few examples of Blark covering a TE or RB, too.
Larry, "You don't see that very often. " In GB No Freakin Kiddin!
More research.
@Goalline posted:Right? Idiot picked a CB in Alexander with his first pick when there were LBs on board. I will never forgive him for that.
He could have drafted 10 all pros in every draft and he would still be called dumb.
Well, his nickname is Gunt. BTW, Albert Einstein's nickname is Idiotsein. Says me!!!!

This system doesn't need no all pros. It runs itself with a few maintenance guys, a donkey and Otto QB.
Otto Graham, great QB.
Jim Otto, great C.
LB De'Vondre Campbell
BTW, liking what Iβm hearing about this guy in camp. Canβt wait to see what he looks like in pads.
Iβm hopeful that our DC being a successful LB coach will help improve the whole unit, because this is probably the best group weβve had since 2010. Specifically I think he could have been a low key good signing for 2 reasons: 1) although he wasnβt gameplanning against him, Barry saw this guy in the NFC West twice last season. He had to have heard the conversations from the offense about their opinions. 2) MLF and McVay are BFF, who saw Campbell twice a year and gameplanned against him, same for his brother Mike in SF. You would think MLF could get some opinions from those guys and maybe that informed to some extent. MLF was in atlanta at the same time as Campbell in 2016, so there may be some familiarity about the personality also.
