From the article:  "Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks."

So perhaps this explains at least some of TT's resistance to signing free agents without careful thought... he's trying to increase the chances of high compensatory draft picks.  I wonder how Green Bay ranks in compensatory picks compared to other teams during TT's reign.

At the bottom of the PDF file, it shows how many comp picks each team has been awarded since 1994.

NFL CLUB SUMMARY OF COMPENSATORY DRAFT PICKS, 1994-2014 *

Baltimore 41
Dallas 33
Green Bay 33
Philadelphia 30
Tennessee *** 30
St. Louis ** 30
Pittsburgh 29
New England 27

I've got no problems with Belichick's gruff, say nothing press conferences. Being a good quote isn't part of the job description. But a move like this seems like just being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole.

I think Baltimore misplayed Flaccos deal badly. They could have locked him up before his SB run and it ended up costing them $20 million per. His 2016 cap hit is $28 million. He's never seeing that. Agree that Ozzie is really good. But Flacco isn't worth that kind of money.

McCarthy speaks, from Wilde tweets.

McCarthy confirms Raji will play at nose tackle, that will "cut him loose." "need to get him over the center" again.

McCarthy says Julius Peppers will be with LBs/elephants in terms of position coaches (Moss) but will be "multiple" in role.

McCarthy reiterates Hyde "deserves the opportunity to be an every-down player." Hyde was "standing on the sideline too much" last year.

McCarthy discussed the QB position behind @AaronRodgers12 and said clearly, "I'd like to have Matt (Flynn) back." Would prefer three on 53.

McCarthy acknowledged that @IAM_Dat_One's ankle injury "was worse than we probably thought" and impacted his rookie production.

McCarthy said RB Johnathan Franklin (@JFrank2308) did NOT have surgery for his late-season neck injury but didn't offer more details.

McCarthy also confirmed what he'd told @rothchris earlier today, that @BBulaga will return to right tackle and @DBak69 is the left tackle.

Which one is McCarthy?

I'm trying to figure out which ones are Lovie Smith and Marvin Lewis.

Usually, the Packers have two big linemen inside and two outside linebackers forming their front four in the "nickel." With players like Peppers, Neal and Perry, Capers can use any combination of linemen and "elephants" to make up the front four.

Would that be the new "Barbar" alignment?

Silverstien writes that MM comment's today is not an admission that they plan to play Hyde at safety. It has to be, if MM wants to give Hyde starter time the only slot is at Safety. Haywood is going to get the nickel spot.  They will not sit Shields or Williams to give Hyde more snaps.

I would think the Packers will draft a safety type this year, it may not be in the first round.

I would like to see Mosley or Ebron at this point...but if Pryor or Dix is there, it would be tough for me to pass that up as well.

Get one of those four on day one, and I'll be a pretty happy fan.

Well excuse me je*k I wrote Jennings when I meant Williams.

If you hand any class you would of said something along the lines of " excuse me I think you mean Williams not Jennings".  Nice,  simple, and friendly. Jerk

If I was a jerk I'd have also pointed out that there's no such thing as "Haywood" and would have closed by calling you a dip****.  If only I could go back in time.

You're in luck, tomorrow is Wayback Wednesday here at X4. $1 long-necks and insults are free for the first 100 posts. After that it requires a $10 donation to Boris for his New York incidentals.
