Wasn't that the case leading up to the CIN game too?   Now that I think of it, is DET's D much different than CIN's?

Well, if he can't go then it's time for Perry and/or Neal or Datone or Jones to step up. Perry and Jones are 1st rounders. They have to do better at getting to the QB.

They've been good against the run. But against the pass...

“Focusing more specifically on Mike Neal and Nick Perry, neither of them have a sack yet, neither of them have a hit yet,” said Nathan Jahnke of ProFootballFocus.com.

“Combined they have just nine pressures. So you’d like to see them get a little bit more pressure than what they’ve been getting.”

Using the grading system provided by Pro Football Focus, Perry and Neal rank near the bottom among outside linebackers playing in a 3-4 defense in the entire NFL, respectively ranking 37th and 39th out of 41 players who have participated in at least 25 percent of their team’s defensive snaps.

Indeed, one of only two outside linebackers that rank below Mike Neal in the Pro Football Focus position ratings is the Indianapolis Colts’ Erik Walden, whom the Packers allowed to walk away in free agency this offseason.

MM: Clay was a "limited participant" today. Is getting better. Does not foresee this will keep him out long.

MM: Van Rotten sprained his foot on Monday. Will be out "multiple weeks".

@WesHod

MM: Jermichael looked good. Bye week helped him. Looked like Jermichael. Practiced very hard

MM: Everybody is different (via Hayward). It's just course that we're going. He's not going to be ready this week. We'll know more next wk

MM: James Starks injury I'd put him in the category of couple weeks. Getting rest ready

MM: I'm happy with the progress Mason Crosby has had. The competition he went through. He's kicking ball very well right now

MM: Lions playing better than last year. Don't know why we're focusing on last year. Their playing well this year

MM: Anytime you lose players during course of game, those answers are part of your game-planning. Ability to get in and out of personnel

Wednesday's official injury report confirms cornerback Chris Houston is dealing with a hamstring issue.

Houston was injured early in the fourth quarter during a punt. While blocking on the special teams play, he pulled up limping when running downfield. He was unable to return to action.

The Lions were without three of the team's four starting defensive backs for Wednesday's practice. Safeties Glover Quin (ankle) and Louis Delmas (knee) joined Houston on the sidelines.

So when was the last confirmed siting of LIONHEART??? So long that I cannot recall. I was a different person (on the board) at that time.

McCarthy must be reading the great one's e-mails by using the term 'snippet'.

I think I've stumbled upon a new word for the X4 lexicon.

By the way, the media sure portrayed Finley's concussion worse than what it seems to have turned out to be.

interesting. good to hear the surgery was successful. Hopefully Blair Kiel will be less moody post op

Finley posted a video last week on his site and there were two comments he made that I think many took to mean he was done for a while...

“I looked at the sideline and all I saw was jerseys,” Finley said. “I saw the yellow pants we wore, and I didn’t see no head or legs. Everybody was decapitated and my body was on fire.”

Perhaps the scariest part for Finley was the reaction of his 5-year-old son, Kayden.
“He said, ‘Daddy, I don’t want you to play football anymore,’” Finley said.

At practice LB Clay Matthews was participating. How he gets through today's full pads practice will help determine if he plays Sun.

practice: Hayward takes part in some individual drills in pads. Probably just part of the process in his return

Outside linebacker Clay Matthews and cornerback Casey Hayward were in pads and taking part in the Packers' practice late this morning.

Both players are coming off hamstring injuries, and Hayward’s participation was a surprise because on Wednesday coach Mike McCarthy listed him as out for this week. It’s unclear whether Hayward’s return today means he has a chance of playing this week against Detroit or is just a way of easing him back into football after he’s missed all but four practices and every game since training camp started.

Matthews’ chances of playing this week against Detroit hinge on how much he can do today and then how his hamstring feels tomorrow.

Two players didn’t practice: running back James Starks (knee) and center/guard Greg Van Roten (foot). McCarthy has declared both out for this week.

Would Clay Matthews have played Week 4 had the not had a bye? Matthews: "I don’t know, to be honest with you."

Clay Matthews: "I'll be out there this Sunday." Says "I wouldn’t be returning if I had that concern" about reinjuring hamstring.
