Home runs are great, but the Brewers’ reliance on them to score runs leaves them in a precarious situation. The players on this team are perfectly capable of playing small ball with their speed. If they want to be a great team, they need to be relentless with the hits and base running. It’s what the hated Cardinals do.

With tellez you have to play long ball. He can't hit to left and when they put the shift on him anything hit on the ground to the right side is an out.   And I wouldn't say they only need homers to score because in several wins they didn't have any.  But when you get them it is great.   Also they are not striking out a ton, many of the guys shorten up with 2 strikes.

You’re right Ammo, home runs are an important way to beat the shift, and yes, games have been won with walk off singles, wild pitches, bases loaded with walks. And as long as the homers are coming I’m happy as a happy clam.
