Well now it is time to move on from the gauntlet and get to the game against Illinois 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the Big Ten.  Since BSPN hasn't gotten around to its crappy preview here is my extremely crappy preview.  And honestly it will be nice to watch and talk about UW football as a diversion from the Packers right now.  Anyhow here goes:

Their three wins are against Murray St, Rutgers, and Michigan State

Illinois gives up at least 30+ points in each of their losses and have given up over 40 three times.

Injuries to other QB's has led the Illini to start and are you ready for this?  Jeff George Jr. a redshirt freshman.  And the defense is led in tackles by Hardy Nickerson.  Sound familiar his dad was a NFL LB for Steelers maybe (?)

On paper this one should be a drubbing but I hope it isn't that trap or letdown I have been worrying about.  After the gauntlet the Badgers just endured hopefully they don't take the Illini for granted.  I say they don't and curb stomp them 41-16

I'll be at Camp Randall Section T.  I'm hoping it'll be a nice autumn day for Homecoming and a Badger victory.  Agreed.  They should put on a whoopin'....and hopefully, play a lot of guys to get experience, too.

I'm going to the Thursday night Mendota Club dinner to hear Chryst talk....and then to the BB game Friday night.

What a weekend in Madtown!

Hardy Nickerson played for the Buc and the Packers IIRC.

Ahhh yes now I remember and thanks I could place the name but too lazy to look it up.

Just don't blow these couple of games Bucky!  I have my tickets and hotel to the Big Ten title game.  I can't take a repeat of last year being around Iowa fans for 2 days.

Just got back from the Mendota Club gathering with Coach Chryst.   It was at Rex's in Waunakee.   Thanksgiving meal  banquet style...but delicious....with a Happy Cow pint for an appetizer.

OK...well, Coach Chryst will never be confused with the great orators of our time....but....he's sincere, he has a clear message for player's and fans.....and he still captures the audience with his philosophy of teaching kids how to become men.

Genuine good guy.   Go Bucky.

Chryst and Gund are the ideal guys for their jobs. They are likely to be successful long-term and run clean programs. Just as important, neither one views Wisconsin as a stepping stone to somewhere else. Since both of them are Wisconsin natives who grew up rooting for the Badgers, this is probably their dream job in both cases.

I think the game this weekend will be uncomfortably close until about the third quarter. If I'm Illinois I put about 8 guys in the box and make the QB beat me. This may keep it to a 10-3 type game at the half. I would expect the Badgers to pull away slowly in the second half and win by something like 27-10. If the Badgers get good QB play, I could see them winning by 30+, but I'm not confident that's going to happen.

Who makes Happy Cow?

HAppy Cows are supposed to be In California.  You know where 10,000 cows in one place stand on concrete for their entire lives.

Spotted Cow comes from New Glarus where cows get to graze on real grass and get to spend their days on dirt or lying in a nice bedded stall.

I wonder which cows are really happy?   I know I'm a happy beer drinker when I have a Spotted Cow.
