Game balls....Watt, Fuma, Beigel
All deserved. But that stop by... Tomlin (close) on that screen play was HUGE!
Loved Justin Wilcox at Boise State. Awesome win and to shake the SEC 1st Game monkey off the back. Clement running angry a good sign. On Wisconsin!

Clement still needs a few more touches IMHO.
The thing I was noticing was that if they really weren't going to run it, he was out. So 1 of 2 things need to happen. He either needs to learn to pass block, or integrate into the passing game better.
If I noticed it, other teams will too.
Now we didn't see much from Taiwan today, and Dare had a couple of OK runs, but I still believe Clement is the best runner on the team. I get that they want to mix it up, but we need to be careful of 'tells' even if Houston showed more running/escapability than expected.
Besides that, I think it's pretty obvious he's a timing QB. Get him off his mark and he makes mistakes. We need to prevent this the rest of the season.
Fumagali is a STUD. N'uff said.
But or LB crew might be the deepest in the Nation!
Let's not forget LSU has a legit defense. Like a top 10 defense. Like better than they may face the rest of the year.
The benefit is Brandon Harris is a bum - if that team had a mediocre QB they might go undefeated.
This is why I am cutting UW offense some slack.
Skip Bayless@realSkipBayless
Heisman pick: Leonard Fournette, who gets revenge on Bama. My final 4: LSU, OhioSt, Clemson, Okla. National champ: LSU.
Tom Crabtree@itsCrab
This is why they pay you the big bucks
Chryst is all about the TE position. Think Kendricks and Daniels and Pederson (among others).
Not surprised at all about Fumagali
Just saw a replay of the late hit. IMHO it absolutely was on purpose. No player would run with the ball like that if the play was not dead. Also #76 had to hear a whistle ending the play. I think the SEC will suspend for at least 1 game. It should be a conference game too, not their next game against some cupcake team like Jacksonville State.

Goddammn I heart the Crab!
Any Paul Chryst doubters got their answers yesterday. The Badgers played an imperfect game against one of the nation's premier defenses and beat them at their own game.
The OL answreed the bell. The defense answered the bell. It was Barry-ball all over again.
And for Houston- I'm ok. I'm more concerned about the drops and the lack of execution at the WR position. And if there's an offensive mind better at making TE's great productive, it's Chryst. If I am a top high school TE in the country, I'm going to Madison.
The LSU defensive line is really good and the Badgers OL more than held their own. Pleasantly surprised at how the big uglies played up front.
They really did look well-coached. Watching the offense in their pre-snap motions, etc., they looked like a well-oiled machine. They were ready.
Both sides of the ball, these guys looked like and proved they can play with anybody. 3 bad turnovers almost lost it, but overall, Wisco straight up beat LSU.
There is film now so it won't get easier, but this win was no fluke.
With the exception of two terrible decisions, Houston played OK, but you can't have a RS-Sr QB with limited upside making decisions like that. He has to make sure he doesn't lose games. Hope he learns from this. He's an academic All Big 10 guy.
Totally agree MP2. It was his first start, and they don't get a pre-season. I have to believe he learned from it. Mental mistakes should be the easiest to correct. Everything else from him looked fine.
How does Houston have limited upside? It was his first start. Against a dominant team. How did people honestly expect him to play?
I hated the pick in the endzone, but he actually showed me a lot. Good mobility. Very good arm strength and quick release. Seems to have poise given the stakes and level of competition.
All I know is that Stave would have been eaten alive against that D. Their corners would have had all day to react to his long windup and telegraphed throws, and he wouldn't have been able to avoid the rush and make plays with his legs like 13 did.
How does Houston have limited upside?
a) he has the stink of Gary Anderson. You can't wipe that off a QB.
2) he's a 23 year old senior starting because GA couldn't recruit a QB
3.14) We'll love him because he is who we gots
I get it Bong, but GA didn't recruit Houston. Paul Chryst did. And Chryst has worked his magic on other QBs a lot less talented than Bart Houston.
What should be a bigger concern is our WRs continue to be mediocre at best. Wheelwright is pretty good, but until he can stay healthy for more than 5 games at a stretch he can't be counted on long term.
I think Chryst can compensate with a good running game and TE play but it will be tough to beat the Michigans and O$Us of the world with shoddy WR play.
Hard to argue with pie.
Whatever happened to Reggie Love?
His hands remain primarily composed of stone
LSU's Josh Boutte spoke with #Badgers S D'Cota Dixon this morning and apologized for his late hit. Boutte suspended for Saturday's game

Reggie Love is the Badgers WR in a nutshell. He flashes tallant but can't pull it all together and for him specifically he's got a bit of knucklehead about him.
George Rushing. Makes one great play then boneheads it (fumble) at a critical point in the game.
Peavy has some ability but he's really nothing more than a backup on a good team.
Is says somethings when Dare O is your primary passing option on 3rd downs.
Fumagalli
Been offline for a couple of days and this is the first chance I have had to comment here. First and foremost thank you Badgers! F*** em Bucky!
I honestly thought going in that they would play tough for about 3 quarters and fade like they seem to do in big spots. Boy was I wrong this time they played their hearts out, stood tall against a VERY talented LSU team, and the lines really stood out in this one. Especially the OL which played hard and you could see they are well coached.
I wont bash Houston for this game at all. He is a guy who has barely played and he has to make his first start against a very legit LSU D.
Orr out for the season. Got one play in, so I assume a medical redshirt will happen. Sucks for the kid.
That's a bummer about Orr. He has played pretty well at ILB for UW and hope he comes back from the injury.
TJ Edwards is close to returning so that should help. If not, Connelly needs to step up which he did against LSU.
I really like our Head Coach. Great job staying on course after a couple BAD int's.
Unranked to 10. Even I think that was a little extreme.
And #27 to #16 in the Amway Coaches Poll. Way to go Bucky!!!!
Also some wild bowl speculation too. How can you even begin to project such things?
El-Ka-Bong posted:Unranked to 10. Even I think that was a little extreme.
Amazing!
I'm not sure in my 25+ years of following college football that I have ever seen a team go from unranked one week to #10 the following week.
Tells you these voters don't know crap. They're just trying to set up a showdown for ratings...
Disagree. No fluke.
They don't know what these college teams are until they hit the field. They saw what they saw.
Double-posting to add: You want to find fault, it's in the pre-season rankings, not now. In college especially, pre-kickoff rankings are based on almost pure speculation.
The voters know this. They know once the season starts, they're going to have some adjusting to do. Sometimes in a big way.
Now that the guesswork is over, that's all they did here. It's not knee-jerk. This was nationally-televised domination in the trenches fellers, and it was impressive.
I know you know your team's lumps better than most and there's a tendency to be your own worst critics, but give your team some credit: They visibly dominated the LOS against a major program. They beat them outright where it counts most.
That is really hard to discount, and everyone saw it in H fricken D.
I still see this Badger team as flawed in a way that does not equate to top 10. And as I said in the pre season, the OL will tell the tale of this season- if that group stays on the field and plays like they did Saturday, it won't be Leonard Fournett in New York in December. Clement will be close to 2000 yards.
But I just lack faith in those receivers. They suck. They really do. And while I think Houston is better than Stave, I don't think it'll matter. An it'll cost them 2-3 games.
I get it, but "suck " is too harsh. Wheelwright and Fumagalli can carry that light load, IMO.
Wheelwright had the 1 bad drop Saturday but overall he passes my eyeball test.
El-Ka-Bong posted:Unranked to 10. Even I think that was a little extreme.
I do as well but it is also kind of nice for a change since UW very rarely gets a ton of love in the polls. Sometimes they do but more often than not they don't.
So anyhow, ESPN (or SEC network more accurately) is already saying that they aren't ready to give UW any credit since they don't know what LSU is yet. Had LSU thumped UW they wouldn't be saying "oh LSU isn't that good they just beat Wisconsin" they would be saying strong and mighty they are.
