Garrett relieved by Young, for the Mets.
Monasterio hits a 2 RBI single!!! 6-0, Brewers!
Devin Williams in to seal it.
The Brewers have struck out 18 times tonight yet lead 6-0. That's 18 strike outs out of a possible 24 outs. Craziness.
Brewers win it 6-0. 14th shut out of the season. 5-0 against the Mets, this year! Atlanta walked off the Royals. Mets are a game back of Atlanta, now.
A Brewer win and a Yankee loss will guarantee HFA in the World Series if (when) they get there.
And the Yankers did lose 9 - 4.
I should have been more specific, on Sunday a Brewers win and a Yankee loss will guarantee HFA in the World Series. Yanks own the tie breaker and right now they are tied. A good reason to keep playing hard.
Not sure how I want Sunday to play out but it would be best if Mets win and Braves lose. Then they are back to tied. On Monday Mets win 1st game forcing game 2. Mets win they are in. Braves win they are in because they hold the tie breaker. Mets and Braves both hold tie breaker with D-backs.
Brewers have been perfect against the Mets this year. 5-0. I say go for 6 straight. It's the last game of the regular season. Sentimentality plays a big part in players, fans lives when the season winds down. Last night, Brewers radio announcers Josh and Lane said their goodbyes to working together. Do the playoffs and the divisional rounds have network announcers calling the games? I know the World Series does.
If it’s a matter of playing the Mets or Braves or DBacks that’s easy. Bring on the Mets.
The last game of the regular season begins at 2:10 CT, with no national TV coverage indicated.
Gamecast gives the Crew a 53% chance to win.
Colin Rea on the mound for Milwaukee:
Player | W-L | ERA | WHIP | IP | H | K | BB | HR |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
9-3 | 3.08 | 1.33 | 114.0 | 109 | 93 | 43 | 8 | |
12-5 | 4.17 | 1.23 | 162.0 | 159 | 130 | 40 | 28 |
Kind of tells you Rea won’t be starting any games in the WC round. Should be available out of the pen We’d or Thurs.
I think Bob will work all the games of the Wild Card round since they are in Milwaukee s well as the game today. Not sure if Bob will work road playoff games. A
Crew down 4 - 0. Rea still pitching. Whoops, now 5 - 0. Rea with 97 pitches. Taking one for the team today.
Murphy throws in the towel. Milner now pitching for the Brewers. He did get the last out in the 6th.
D-Backs pounding the Padres 9 - 2 in the end of 7. Royals beating Braves 4 - 2 top of 8. Mets beating Crew 5 - 0 bottom of 8. So if everything holds D-backs will have 89 wins, Braves and Mets 88 wins. Mets need to sweep the D H to get in since the Braves hold the tie breaker with them. It seems to me D-backs are coming to Milwaukee no matter how it turns out in Atlanta since both of them hold the tie breaker over D-backs. At least I think that is right.
Thanks hntr. After I hit post i realized a 3 way tie eliminates the D-backs. I hope both teams blow thru their bullpens trying to win. Brewer pen should be pretty well rested with the dregs all pitching today. I'm a little more concerned with the 30 Ks by the batters over the past 2 games.
Dodgers /Mets series, game 2. Mets up 7 -3 in the bottom of the 9th. LA has runners on 1st and 2nd. 1 out. Reminds me a tad of the Brewers/ Mets series final game inning. Hoping the Mets blow this. 2 out, now. Freeman strikes out. Series is tied up, 1-1. Next game is Wednesday, in NY.
