Cβmon boys, finish this roadie strong. One of 3 would be ok, two of three superβ¦.andβ¦.we donβt talk about sweeps.π

, pretty cool to be "the guy" to hit the first home run in franchise history.
tonight's starters
Corbin Burnes (1-1, 5.19 ER
Chris Flexin (0-2, 8.74 ERA)
Last leg of the road trip lets go Crew !
Clever pick off play by Burnes.
Alonso, Tellez turned a nifty double play earlier.
Rowdy has been flashing the leather all season. Suarez created so much havoc for the Brewers as a member of the Reds he owed us that bonehead baserunning play. It seemed like Burnes held that ball for about 30 seconds and I was afraid it would be a walk via the pitch clock.
Burnes leaves with an injury. Not what we want to see with Woodie out for a couple months.
Great.
Burnes leaves with a chest issue.
Strezlecki relieves Burnes.
Got that run back in a hurry.
Another manufactured run, 6-2.
Bush can't keep the ball in the park. No way he should be pitching as the setup man. Who pitches the 9th in a save situation should be interesting, assuming Williams is unavailable.
Payamps into the 9th we go.
Brewers win 7-3 !
Looks like the Burnes injury is not too bad. He was developing a tightness in his left pectoral that he thinks occurred on the tag on the pick off. He threw 2 innings after that, but the pain and tightness was getting worse so out he went.
Butβ¦.you know heβs going to protect his $150 million body all year long. I donβt blame him for being pissed about being squeezed in arbitration.

The 2008 Milwaukee Brewers were fighting to get into the playoffs for the first time in 26 years.
Ben Sheets basically pitched until his arm fell off at the end of that year. On September 7th, he threw a 120-pitch 1-0 shutout. On September 11th, he threw 113 pitches. He was already hurt by then. He came back and threw in relief for two games and then had to have elbow surgery in the off-season. The Brewers do not make the post-season without him. Sabathia's run obscures what Sheets also did that year.
After the season, he was a 30 year-old free agent, but was damaged goods. Other starting pitchers that signed in free agency deals in 2008 or 2009 included John Lackey (5 years, 82 million); Randy Wolf (3 years and 30 million to the Brewers); AJ Burnett (4 years, 82 million); Ryan Dempster (4 years, 52 million); Sabathia (7 years, 161 million).
Sheets was better than all of them except Sabathia. If he was remotely close to healthy, he probably gets something like the Burnett deal (around 4 years and 80 million). Instead, he made about 20 million total for the rest of his career (he pitched in 29 games the next 4 years).
I'd take care of myself first also if I was Burnes. I know it's different ownership now, but the Brewers wouldn't even pay for Sheets' elbow surgery in 2008.
I'm not blaming Burnes for taking himself out. Didn't mean that at all. Better to have him miss a start or 2 than miss 2-3 months.
It was evident from the body language that Counsell pulled him as soon as Burnes explained the situation on the mound. With Woodie down Burnes is more important than ever.

They were only $700K apart so it was foolish for the Brewers not to meet Burnes halfway which was probably all he wanted, the Brewers giving in a little. Once it goes to arbitration, and the case is presented, those words can never be taken back. That tells us the brewers will trade Burnes before next season. It was handled very poorly by the Brewers because of the message it sends all players.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or maybe Burnes gets the big contract and Woody gets traded. Or neither one gets traded. Right now Burnes seems more durable.
Cha-ching!
Yeli knocks one out ! 1-0.
And Yelich with another RBI and a run scored. Maybe he is starting to come around. 3-0 Crew!!
I know the season is early but the Brewers are doing exzctly what they need to do to win the division. Win 2 of 3 at home. Check! Play .500 on the road. Check! That gets you 94 wins and 9 times out of 10 that wins the division.
Yelich is having an odd start to the year. He has 17 runs in about 17 and a half games right now.
He is on pace to score about 160 runs and strike out 250 times while walking about 100 times. In other words, in over half his at-bats he doesn't put the ball in play.
160 runs would be among the top 15 seasons all-time. Of course, he won't keep that pace, but it seems like most of the time he gets on base, he scores.
Don't you just love these obscure baseball stats.
Yelich with another base hit.
I can't believe how many called strikes the Brewers have taken tonight. Quite a few on fastballs right down the middle.
Devin gets it to the 10th wow.
Whew. I canβt believe we got out of that jam. Top of the lineup coming up, and Yelich has had a big game.
Iβd give my left foot to get him back on trackβ¦FINALLY. Just keep that OBP climbing.
Cmon Yeli hit another one out. Wilson let one run in but I'll take that.
Willy, a sac fly would be beautiful right now. Or a three run bomb.
6-5!
Alright !
This scrub Bryse Wilson with a 5.37 career ERA is the best pitcher we have for closing this one out? Seriously?
Now he walks the bases loaded.
Wake up, Counsell.
