Thanks, DD.

I guess I need to read more carefully...

It's hard to bitch about money going to a charity, even when the phrase "net proceeds" is included, but still...

I suppose I'm just being selfish. I'd rather any proceeds go to the Packers, but it's not an argument worth having. Just let it happen and be over with.

I hope to have the last laugh, though. I've got a bit of TOG memorabilia I hope to unload when the pre-ceremony fervor begins to build.

If you stick your hands between a guy's legs for a year-and-a-half I'd hope you'd stop by to say "hi" when you're in town.

Why?  He doesn't owe the Vikings schit.  Just stickin it Packer fans one more time.  I hope they boo the hell out of him at the Packer Hall of Fame day, the flag football game and the jersey retirement night.

He doesn't owe the Vikings anything, but assuming he didn't make any friends on the team is dumb and assuming he's trying to "stick it to Packers fans" is ludicrous.

The level of whiny, narcissistic victimhood of fans over Favre is insane.

Not a Favre defender, but context is important. If he's in town for something else, why wouldn't he stop by? He played for them, got them to the NFCC. Hard for ex-players to NOT visit I think. If he went there just to see the Vikes then that's weird because I can't imagine there are too many holdovers from his time there...coaches have changed, lots of personnel turnover including his buddies Allen and Longwell. If he went just for that then that's a weird way to make amends with Packer fans. If he went just to visit Vikings camp, why didn't he also make it over to Packers camp? I know it's not close, but if you're making your way to Minnesota then a short flight to GB is no big deal.

From Cuqui's link to the bleacher report article:

B/R: What is your favorite Dad story?

Favre-Mallion: Dad is one of the funniest people I've ever met, and not always what people expect. My husband is British and didn't really follow American football until recently. It's hard for him to believe that his father-in-law was a celebrity athlete at one point. There's nothing glamorous about our daily lives.

When I was in middle school, Dad had this white Chevy truck that he loved. One day the muffler fell off and was dragging on the ground behind the truck. Instead of having it fixed by a professional, my dad chained it to his bumper. He was pretty proud of his craftsmanship. Dad drove me to school the next morning, and all of my classmates were waiting near the carpool line for the morning bell.

As we went over each of the several speed bumps in the car line, sparks spewed from behind the truck, and the muffler made this horrible scraping, clanking sound. It felt like an eternity before we reached the drop-off. Middle school was already terribly awkward for me; I just did my best to blend in as much as possible. Everyone turning to look at the commotion was pretty horrifying. Dad really couldn't understand why I should be embarrassed.

Yup, that's Bert.

I too have a favorite Brett story.

Back in October 2010 when Brett was playing for the Minnesota Vikings, Brett threw a TD to Percey Harvin with 50 seconds left to beat Green Bay at Lambeau in a game that Green Bay led most of the way. Would have been Aaron Rodgers first win against Brett. The Viking fans sitting two rows in front of me were giving all manner of **** that the old man still had it. Then the replay rolled on the bigscreen showing Percy landing out of bounds.

That's a really good story.

Oh, I have another one....

The time he could have taken a knee and tried a 56 yard field goal. This is not Detroit man this is the Super Bowl.

And the scrotum licking by some posters after all these years by a guy who did all he could to stick it to the Packers is getting tiring too.

Favre wanted to show he could still play (which he could), TT wanted to move on (which he did), the rest is a useless pissing match. The "divorce" was ugly, but so what? It all turned out about as expected, with the bonus of spinning the pick from the Favre trade in to Matthews.

What in the **** does having a dislike for Brett Favre and every BS stunt he pulled the last few years have to do with TT? That's a pretty effing weak direction to take.

Am I glad TT and MM told Brett to **** off? Yep. Aaron Rodgers would be playing in a different uniform today if they didn't. But my complete and total dislike for Brett Favre exists solely because Brett Favre is a colossal self centered cocksucker. Not because I like TT more.

Yep, moving on to Rodgers was a tough move and I doubt they could have waited with Rodgers going in to the last year of his rookie deal. That doesn't mean Favre was done, but he wasn't going to be viable much longer either. The egos at that level are enormous, Favre, TT, McCarthy and Rodgers included, and business can feel personal.

But it's in the past and manufacturing outrage over a guy visiting former teammates in another city is pointless. Why get mad about it at this point?

Because he can travel from Mississippi to Minnesota to see his teammates, but never once came to GB to do the same or interact with Packer fans at all. Packer fans worshipped that guy for 15 years and he didn't/doesn't seem to care at all. You may say he doesn't owe the fans anything, which is probably true, but these ex-Packers don't hang around and interact with fans because they feel obligated to. I think that's why people take it personally. GB handled it just fine IMO, he retired and they moved on. TT got rid of him year too early, but if he had gotten rid of him a year too late it would have set this franchise back in so many ways.

How the **** did Bart Starr do what he did with the hardest driver driving the screw that kept the machine together and do it with grace, class, performance, and respect?

Brett didn't know what he wanted and then blamed everyone else for letting him see his indecision through.

Brett Favre shouldn't be on the same wall as Bart Starr. Dammit.
