Matchups in the Seahawk game

It looks like GB should be able to take advantage a few matchups in the upcoming MNF game.

Bert Guacamole is going to start at one tackle and Frank oakilye(?) a former bears tackle is replacing their all pro tackle Okung. So I look for the sacks to continue. That is going to happen only if GB stops the run effectively, What is C.J. Wilson's status , I hope that GB keeps enough guys active at D-line so they are fresh in run defense and dont get worn down.

Worthy plays on special teams so that helps GB keep more D-lineman active.Does Daniels play any ST's? I think that Merling should be active if Wilson is not 100% as I think Merling has shown he can be effective against the run.

The other matchups I like are the Packer WR's against the tall Seahawk corners that are aggresive and dont have great closing speed. I can see Cobb,Jennings,Jones or Nelson catching the elusive(this year so far)long TD passes. With at least one of the safties looking after Finley that should open up one of the other guys.

Also it would be nice to see Green on some swing passes finally.

That would be Frank Oatmeal.

CHI got rid of him because they felt he wasn't good enough for their horrible line but he somehow was able to keep DeMarcus Ware in check last sunday. Didn't see the game so I don't know how he did it - if he had a alot of help or not.

Any secondary that presses our guys are going to have some success as long as the refs continue to not call illegal contact after 5 yards. Gotta get underneath them with Cobb and Benson, maybe even Green. Should be really interesting to see if Jennings makes an impact, possibly with the slant.

I think Okung will play.

Seattle's offensive line isn't all that special, but they run the ball pretty well. So the run defense, which hasn't looked all that great, will need to step up. Forcing Seattle into passing downs, putting the pressure on Wilson, taking Lynch out of the game (in terms of game plan, not bounty style) will be important.

The matchup I'm going to be watching is Seattle's d-line vs. the Packers o-line. With Red Bryant (DE), Chris Clemons (DE) and Jason Jones (DT) the Seahawks sport a pretty stout front 4. Sitton v. Jason Jones is an interesting matchup. Sitton manhandled Henry Melton last week in every fashion of the game and is without question the Packers best o linemen. Chris Clemons v. Newhouse is a key matchup. Clemons has 12 total pressures this year, but Newhouse has looks improved, giving up only 3 pressures so far this year.

Seattle has a strong secondary as well. Brandon Browner will most likely be match up on Jennings. Thomas and Chancellor are solid over the top, and they tackle well. Still...it's nothing McCarthy and Rodgers can't pick apart if Rodgers is afforded the time to throw where and when he wants.

It looks like Okung is going to get the start. CM3 will have a good matchup. He got the best of Staley in wk 1. Perry and Walden need to apply some heat to Wilson. So do Raji, Worthy, Daniels. Need a good push up the front.

Seattles defense is good. Not quite SF good but they're in the same zip code. They returned 10 starters from last years D that finished 9th in yards and 7th in points. Very tough to run on them. Kam Chancellor hits like a freight train. 6'3" 235lb safety. He's really good.

Should be a good test for GB fresh off the 49'er game. I would expect Seattle to give the same looks. They can put 6 guys in the box and stop the run.

Seattle will pound the ball with Lynch all game. I think Monday will look very similar to the 49'er game. Physical, chippy, Seattle will try and slow the tempo and play smashmouth. Maybe mix it up a bit with GB offensive players after plays to slow down the Packers no huddle. Their D is feeling good after beating Dallas down last week.

Just like the SF game, GB has to get off to a quick start, get an early lead, and keep the D guessing.

This is another tough game against a good defense. 27-19 Packers.

If Wilson stays in the pocket the D line must get their hands up and try to knock down some of his passes.

Hope GB can get off to a better start offensively. That place is very loud.

This game worries me. GB absolutely needs to get out in front early. They can't play uphill in this one or they'll come home 1-2.

Capers will find a way to get CMIII matched with Breno early and often. This is not a stellar WR group so if the secondary covers well, look for Wilson to be running a lot and or be subject to coverage sacks. If Breno cant handle CMIII or Walden, could be a long day for the Hags.

Biggest thing IMO in containing the Hawks is to not give Wilson favorable down and distance on 3rd down. Which means containing Marshawn on 1st and 2nd.

I see a big test for Shields to prove he's in the starting role to stay on Monday night. He had an amazing night in coverage against CHI, but wasn't tested too much in run support. How the Bears didn't run the ball 20 times before the half is beyond me, but expect just that from SEA.

Shields has shown a willingness to stick his nose into a tackle this year, and now he'll have his opportunity to show it for 4 quarters.

According to the article in the Shields turns the corner thread, Capers credits him with 2 good games to start the season including his tackling of Gore in game 1.

While yes this will be a test for Shields, we also have to realize we're not talking world beaters at WR here either. Shields should compete well in this game considering Tramon will more then likely be blanketing Sydney Rice all game.

Then there is quite the step off to the rest of Seattle's WR's.

Morgan Burnett must do a better job of tackling than he did vs. the 49ers. Whether it be Lynch, Wilson or a WR he needs to wrap up and bring them down, not this hit them with a shoulder and hope they go down.

I think so. I took the Pack -3. Offense has to get on track at some point, and the defense should be looking to build on the Bears game and keep it going. I have always thought Monday Night negates some of the home field advantage.

Did not know that about Rodgers though. How many games is it? Is that counting his first game, where he came in off the bench vs. Dallas?

Without looking the games up, now that I got coin on it, I'll say it's a coincidence.

Never mind I looked it up. The Dallas game was a Thursday night game (2007).

Last year, there was no away MNF game.

In 2010 (SB year), we lost Flagfest 2010 in Week 3 at Chicago 20-17. I don't recall that loss being on Rodgers in any way (AR 34/45, 319yds 1 TD, 1 INT).

Anything before that, which were MNF losses at Minnesota early in 2009, and at New Orleans and Chicago in 2008 (on the way to a 6-10 season), were before the team's resurgence and don't count, IMO.

Can't lose the turnover battle on the road. Got to minimize their crowd by getting off to a good start. This game looks a lot tougher than it did back when the schedules were released.

seattle is not going to try to throw the ball around on the Packers. The Packers secondary isn't the sieve it was last year, and the seahawks don't have the personnel to match up.

the defense has given up about 5 yards a carry on the ground, however and seattle loves the zone-power running scheme. i'd expect a ton of marshawn lynch. hawk and smith are going to have to play very well.

another thing i've noticed is that Capers has been playing BJ at the 5 technique a bit more this year and he's having much more success against the run than he was at NT. if BJ and worthy can penetrate the backfield it will mess up Seattle's zone blocking. if we can stop the run, i really like our chances.

Dallas started the game last week with a fumbled opening kickoff, an INT and a block punt returned for a TD. The Seahawks defense is chippy and aggressive. When they got ahead there was a steady dose of pressure on Romo with 4-6 rushers. Cowboys had numerous dropped passes. When theer was a completion they were tackled on the spot, often harshly. Witten should had a huge day, but just couldn't perform and Romo stopped going to him until the end of the game. Offensively, the Seahawks just wore down the the Cowboys with their power run game and scattered a few assorted passes from Wilson to keep them honest.

The key is to not give away the lead early. Need a good game from Masthay and Cosby. No TO's.

Interesting match-up will be the GB receivers vs. Seattle secondary and the officials.

Pretty telling that the majority of teams are playing press coverage with deep safeties and having CB's jam / grab / hold receivers for the first 10 yards to disprupt timing. The new refs are having a tough time deciding what's allowed.

If Seattle plays it that way with 2 deep safeties Benson needs to run them out of that look.
