At the combine

‏@TomSilverstein
McCarthy says it was a tale of two seasons with J. Finley, but praised him for second half and described him as important to offense.
Al Davis too. Shanahan also made some really dumb moves when running the show in Denver, like trading a 2nd rounder for Javon Walker . However, I'd be thrilled if Ted can get just a 4th rounder out of someone for this turd.
What team is going to trade for JF plus inherit his 7+ million dollar contract?

So they'd give up a pick plus get a fat contract with it? Won't happen. Even if the team trading for him somehow got him to re-work it highly unlikely they'd want to lock Finley into any kind of long term deal considering how inconsistant he's been.

If anything, I could see him getting cut. But I don't think that happens either. I think he'll be a Packer in 2013.

Only if they already have insomnia.

Boris gets it. You dumdums wouldn't know a talented TE if he slapped you upside the head.

So if Finley gets cut/traded, then TT is a dumdum by that logic.

Yes.

LOL, picking on the wrong guy, PLVA? Pakrz, doesn't worship anyone, not even TT?

Personally, I'm with you. I hope they cut Finley. There is no trade market for the guy. Let's not kid ourselves. He makes too much money, too much for a guy who has been quite average over the last 3 years. 3 years playing with the best QB in the league.
In listening to "Tuesdays with Aaron", it appeared as the season went on Rodgers relationship with Finley improved and his performances on the field reflected that. With fewer drops and more focus, Rodgers confidence in him grew and that the stats showed that. Finley was a much better player the 2nd half of the season.

MM also heaped praise on JF at his season ending PC. Usually that's a pretty big indicator he's going nowhere.
The best trade may be during the season when a team in contention needs a TE. Pack could get a high draft pick maybe even 1st or 2nd round, team getting Finley is only responsible for the dollars remaining in the season. It would be sort of rent a TE for the acquiring team. Could be a win win for both teams since the trade deadline has been extended.

Name the last player of any note that was traded during the season. The way teams structure their rosters and the cap, it's simply not done any more. Any thought of a mid-season trade for a starting level player with a big salary is a wasted one.
