Whitewater?
Coincidence that he didnβt name JL specifically?

No way that is a coincidence.
Burkett or Wolf in the bowl game?

Preferred walk-on there.

The freshman
Iβm genuinely surprised by this.
I shouldnβt be, but this might have been the best situation for Mertz (outside of no wide receivers)
this will go a long way to endear Fickel to the fan base
UW Whitewater has a dominant womenβs tennis program.
Not surprised at all Mertz is transferring. He wasnβt going to be a part of the new regime. Hope he lands on his feet as I think he took more criticism than he deserved.
It's somewhat surprising because, yeah, Fickell coached Ridder to a third-round draft prospect and they have somewhat similar skill sets. Then again, he may have gotten word he's a longshot to be the starter next season. Not sure who wants him, though.

Expectations hurt him for sure. Good luck to him.
thank god.
they cannot play wolf in the bowl game. heβll throw 5 picks
Isnβt he a senior? If so, why on earth would you play him
6th most yards in Bucky history (did not crack the top 10 single season)(Mike Samuel is top 10 in this storied program)
6th in completion percentage (Holds the single game record for his debut against Illinois)(Also tied for single game TDs for that game)
Tied for 5th in program passing TD's
The hate is to high for GM
he had one great game against a lousy Illinois team. after that, garbage. hornibrook and stave both had better careers at uw
People wonβt want to hear it but Chryst is the biggest reason the football program took a dump.
None of that matters now. Iβm thrilled they got Fickell and kept JL. Mertz was in a no win situation and had to go.
Not certain Leonard is staying.
Luke Fickell says there's no timetable to get an answer from Jim Leonhard as to whether or not he's staying. Added they've met three times and Leonhard has a "million options."
iβd be surprised if leonhard doesnβt end up in green bay
Not all reporters get all stories right all the time.

I would bet good money that Fickell told him he is going to have to compete for the starting QB job. Not basing that on anything other that what I think could have happened. I applaud Merz for coming to UW when he had others coming after him but he just didn't pan out. I never had any hate for the guy but I think the program could be better off going with someone else.
Wonder if Mertz ends up at Colorado? I also wonder if Deion would want him.
Deionβs son Shedeur (starter at Jackson State under his father) will be the QB at Colorado
Badger DB Titus Toler has also entered the transfer portal.
I liked Chryst, did not enjoy the mid season canning and was completely satisfied with the results he was getting...but, this is good news. Above and beyond Mertz's inconsistency, I just didn't like him. I concede the Badgers will be better with Fickell.
I'd love to see Leonard come to Green Bay. I can't believe he'll stay in Madison. That's bad news.
Yeah, the mid season firing seemed odd. What was gained by it?
and it looks like a lot of players are moving into the transfer portal. π³ π³ π³

Not having to see his completely lost look on the sidelines and constantly changing the plays called by the offensive coordinator

A bowl game.

Been there, done that

Reminds me of Barryβs early years.
Okie States Qb is transferring also.
Transfer portal is the new normal.
Accurate Transfer Portal Numbers 12/5/22 5:20pm ET
β Hudson Alexander (@CoachHudNSU) December 5, 2022
FBS - 903
FCS - 999
D2 - 1,012
D3 - 426
TOTAL - 3,340
Over 3,000 players in the portal with probably less than 20% worth going after.
That's a lot of bad advice.
JL transferring too. Actually leaving the program.
BREAKING: Former Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz is expected to transfer to @UKFootball, per a source.
β Brett Greenberg (@74Talk) December 8, 2022
Mertz, who announced his decision to transfer from the Badgers program 3 days ago, has two years of eligibility remaining β threw for 2,136 yards with 19 TDs & 10 INTs last season.
