By tomorrow night, all the teams in the NFL will have played 8 games, so we're officially to the halfway point of the season. And while there are some really great seasons happening right now, there shouldn't be any doubt that Aaron Rodgers is the NFL's MVP right now.
Remember a month ago when people were asking "what's wrong with Aaron Rodgers"? We were 2-3. Well, reports of Mr. Rodgers' demise were premature. In the last four weeks, Aaron has 15 TD passes and 1 INT. His 22 TD passes the last five games is a Packer team record. He has 25 TD passes and 5 INT, he's completing 67% of his passes, and has 2,383 yards passing. A 107.4 QB rating.Oh ya, and 162 yards rushing. That's a pace for 45 TD passes, 9 interceptions and 4,236 yards passing.
The passing yard pace is down from last year, but the other numbers are nearly identical to last season (he'll have a few more picks at this pace).
But what makes this season all the more spectacular is his level of play with a revolving door of players around him. He's not had his #1 receiver all season. His #1 running back Cedric Benson, has missed 4 games with his injury. His #2 receiver Jordy Nelson has been out for the last two games. JerMichael Finley has missed time, and when he has been on the field, he's been a non factor. It's been Randall Cobb, James Jones, Donald Driver and Jarrett Boykin on the field. His offensive line has been banged up, and he's been sacked 25 times. Yet he's still playing at an MVP level.
Brett Favre won 3 MVPs with the Packers. Anybody want to bet that Aaron Rodgers doesn't get that many?
