It would be nice to have a place to collect all the predictions so we can - at the end of the season - see who guessed right and was throwing things against the wal to see what sticks. 

 

The 'hawks are getting a lot of love right now.  There was a guy on the radio who didn't think they had a chance and gave about 5 reasons why.  He didn't say who he would pick as far as I know.  I came in on the coversation while it was in progress and did not get the guys name. 

I think the Seahawks are in the conversation, but a couple years away.  I just am curious is they can hold it together without an epic meltdown before that time comes.  Volatile teams can win games.   

the 'hawks will be investigated by the NCA..., I mean NFL for rule violations before they win a SB. 

Gregg Easterbrook does a great "Bad Predictions" recap in his TMQ column each February. Bayless is an annual staple.

 

Carroll and high expectations have a checkered past. He's can be an effective coach when his teams are under the radar. His USC teams that started as consensus pre-season #1 always found a way to blow an  early roadie at places like Oregon St or Arizona St and the season was sunk.

Picking Seattle isn't that crazy. They are in the mix and a rational case could be made for them being the NFC champs.

I'm not sure that argument remains rational when the same individual picks the Cincinnati Bengals to be their opponent.  It frankly puts his entire thought process into question.

The Seabags are this year's Iggles - the Dream Team that implodes.  They won't be 4-12, but they're not some juggernaut anymore than the 49ers are going to be.  I can see Cheat Carroll going 10-6, perhaps 9-7 as they got pretty lucky with injuries last year too and that tide already seems to be turning.  Same so far with SF.  They'll both be good, but neither is going to hoist the trophy.

Remember when Houston was an unstoppable force last year? We all remember how that turned out when GB came to town.

but they scored 40 and 30 points already in their preseason games.  obviously they're winning the SB in August based on that....

 

here's a prediction:  no team with Guacomole playing OT is gonna win a SB.

I think this is the key. Wilson was kind of a wild card last year and teams weren't really prepared for his style of game. He does seem to be a student of the game and held up very well considering his size. This year will be different in that he's not going to surprise anybody and will likely take some licks in the process.

Senecca Wilson will have a sophomore slump.

Can't believe someone would pick a team with Matty Choke that made the NFC Championship game last season to win the bowl. The Pack better hang this up in the locker room.

 

 

Will he learn this before or after folks learn that Mike Silver and Nate Silver are two different people who write for two different publications?

Why are people getting so hot and bothered with the Bungles? I don't see Andy Dalton or Matt Ryan as Super Bowl QB's. They're game managers who can execute the offense well, but can't shoulder the load and win games on their own. They're pieces of the puzzle, but they're not the most important pieces. Guys like Rodgers and Brady and Roethlisberger can take over a game when things around them are going wrong, can Dalton and Ryan do that? To me they're in the same tier as Tony Romo, competent QBs but not championship QBs. 

I think the Bengals are getting the press they are because of that defense. Geno Atkins is a bad man. Burfict has been really good. They added James Harrison as a FA. The DL is one of the better ones in football.

 

They drafted Giovanni Bernard and Tyler Eifert. Eifert has looked a world beater at TE in camp and I could see him becoming Dalton's go to receiver.

 

I think they are realistically a couple years away but that defense will keep them in a lot of games.

I would take Matty Ice over Flacco and could listen to an argument of taking Dalton over him as well.

Seriously? Flacco has played really well in the playoffs while the other two have struggled. Flacco doesn't put up eye popping numbers during the season, but when it matters in the playoffs he's a stud. 

I think Dalton is a pretty good QB, he's only been in the league (2-3 years).  He has taken the Bungles to the playoffs the past couple of years.  Is he AR?  No!!  Is he better than Matty Ice, possibly, better than Flacco, I don't think so, right now, but could be in the future.  

 

Do I think the Bengals are going to win the SB, this year?  No, will they be in the mix, they should be.  They should be a pretty solid team over the next 4-5 years, and could win it during that time.  

Cincy's been down for so long I think there's a natural tendency for the writers to get on their bandwagon. My thinking is more along the lines of Ron Jaworski.

Seems like whatever team is on Hard Knocks becomes the Cinderella team for that season.

 

You're right. Geno Atkins is a bad man. Shocking they drafted him in the 4th round. Cinci's scouts are doing better I guess. One more thing is "Hard Knocks"

Definitely agree on Flacco playing well in the postseason. But personally I would take Ryan over him if I had the choice. I think it's too early to decide if Dalton is "clutch" or not but I think he has a bright future if Cincy as an total organization can put it together.

IF Rahim Moore doesn't make one of the worst plays on a football in a long time, Denver moves on, Flacco goes home, and his career postseason numbers look like this:

12 TD's. 8 INT's. 55.2% completion percentage. Respectable but not great.

 

Flacco get's credit for making the most of Moore's screw up and playing lights out the rest of last years post season though.

 

And yeah, the "what if" argument is weak.... but how in the world does Rahim Moore mess this up? And how is he still the starting safety in Denver?

No but it probably changes his perception of Packer fans

I think Seattle is going to feel the loss of Gus Bradley more than people think. I've read he is just an awesome coach and the players just fed off his energy. I don't know if their new DC is good or not, but his only DC experience is like 2 years at the U of Florida (even though Will Muschamp runs the D down there). Maybe he will end up being great, but how often does a college DC with limited experience move to the NFL and be a great DC right off the bat. They have a ton of talent on D which will mask some of his initial issues, but when it comes down to him vs. a great OC in crunch time, guys like Greg Roman, Dirk Koetter, Kevin Gilbride, and Sean Payton are going to eat his lunch.

Last year it caught defenses off-guard and this year they will be better prepared. I think Seattle and SF will make the playoffs, but won't match last year's success. Super Bowl? Not quite.

 

On the other side, I can't see Cincy there with Dalton. Unless Dalton takes a huge step this year, he just isn't there. Oh, and I'd flip a coin to choose between Flacco and Ryan.
