Coed cornhole is always watchable.
I know, right? Been trying to get my wife to play that with me for years!
@The Heckler posted:I also hate it that the NFL games being on a pay service and I think I hate TNF even more that royalwulff does. Speaking of paying I wish they would offer single game or by team pay per view. I know there are ways to find game streams out there but I would also like the ability to pay for just the Packers games and that's it.
No black outs, on TNF, with Amazon running the show and with only one game on TNF, per week. What if Amazon doesn't think a market is performing up to what thy want from it? Would they air a game there? Wonder if exclusive rights to TNF means the NFL won't put another game on, under a different name? Like, "After Wednesday Night Football." I hate the idea of pay per view NFL games, too.
Prime better come up with a DVR type service like YTTV has. Because most folks like to use DVR especially to rewind plays, etc.
Oh, also expect your Prime subscription to go up - BOHICA!
@Pikes Peak posted:The NCAA tournament ratings are going to be interesting.....no fans, no crying cheerleaders, no bands etc are going to hurt IMO. I’m a diehard, there were many years when I took off the first Thursday and Friday to watch. This year? I will tune in and check out any close games but I just don’t feel it yet.
I think college BB has been over exposed too. Every night, all day Sat and Sun is too much, even for me.
I think college basketball is going through a long-term change that is going to exponentially increase over the next few years. The change has taken place over a period of decades, but it's obviously that right now most of the top players play a year in college and then they are gone. The rule to make kids play as one-and-dones in the early 2000s was an attempt by the NBA to continue to have the colleges be their minor league feeder program so there would be fewer busts at the NBA level and the NCAA wants it to get people to watch the tourney to see the future NBA stars. It's worked for the NBA at some level because guys like Diamond Stone who in the 1990s would have been mid-first round picks just based on size and potential have their weaknesses exposed a bit by playing in college. But now there is more of a push to just drop the pretense of kids like Zion spending 6 months going through the motions of attending college and trying not to get hurt.
LaMelo Bell playing in Europe and then being the likely rookie of the year might open the floodgates. David West is involved with a new venture that is going to try to get the top 17-18 year olds to play in a developmental league (HBL) for a year or two and pay them around 100K and focus on teaching life skills (financial literacy) rather than have the one-and-dones take 3 classes in their fall semester to stay eligible.

If this shift becomes more universal the top NBA-bound kids don't go to college, will it take down March Madness and the NCAA basketball ratings? Essentially, college basketball will go the way of college baseball. The vast majority of the truly elite kids will play professionally (likely with injury insurance) right out of high school and the colleges will get a few guys that may develop into NBA role players (Kaminsky, for example), but not the Zion types.
I couldn't even tell you who won the college baseball title in most years. Will people still watch games when a lot of the college stars have no chance in the NBA (Garza, Ethan Happ, etc.)?
I do not have Amazon Prime, in fact I try to avoid anything Amazon at all costs, nor do I have a smart TV. So unless Amazon also allows a regular TV broadcast it looks like I wont be able to Watch the Packers on their Thursday game. I have Dish network, never had the need for Direct TV Sunday Ticket living in central WI. Besides the Packers I only watch other games if there is a compelling interest in that particular game.

I believe it will be broadcast in local markets, so you should be OK for the Packers TNF
@Fedya posted:I've said quite a few times that I like listening to the games on the radio, in part because it allows me to do other things on the computer as I listen.
We don't need to know about your porn habits.
@RoyalWulff posted:And Amazon has EXCLUSIVE rights to TNF. Which leads me to two points.
1. TNF sucks! Players aren’t rested enough and will get injured. Quality of play is not up to par either.
2. I HATE the idea of putting games on a pay service.
Isn't ESPN a pay service? Games have been there for a long time.
Amazon Prime is $120 a year (with other benefits, apart from supporting the Bezos Empire) and I'm guessing a year of ESPN is probably taking around $75 out of your pocket.
Amazon owns Twitch, and has streamed its Thurs NFL games there, no subscription required. I would assume they would continue with this.

PLEASE don't turn this political!!!! It was the reason they told me they would not or did not watch.
As is their right. The fact that you’re turning your nose up at it says a lot...

Ammo is obviously anti-cancel culture.
Let's not make this political.
@Blair Kiel posted:I can't hate anything more than I hate Direct TV....two more years and then you just know Sunday Ticket will be aka carte streaming.
Call me a dinosaur, but I hate streaming more. I am losing my passion for the game. TNF sucks the way it is. Watching via Amazon sucks even more. Count me out.
Old fart dinosaur. Do you need someone to set the time on your VCR too?
But I agree with the rest of it. TNF is stupid. The game gets more moneyed up but then we're not the target audience anymore.

I never turned my nose up at anything. And it absolutely is their right. Somebody wondered why viewership was down and I posted one reason why from some very good friends of mine. These were diehard fans at one time discussing the draft, free agents, everything. This is what the reason they gave me when I asked them about Packer games or any other games. I have no reason to lie about this but you, Dougie, and others seem to think I am. I'll admit I don't like Trump, but they do and will support him in anything he says.
I'm with Ammo and have had the same experience. It's just been happening, whether you think it's right or not. Those who won't support a sport if they think it's negative toward their political views is not a small number.
But you know what's great?
Who gives a fuck.
With that I agree. If people want to watch bowling or cornhole it is their right.
Cornhole with bowling balls would be epic.

Thanks ammo......I got a few “thumbs down” for me saying this EXACTLY. tRump made it perfectly clear DO NOT WATCH THE NFL BECAUSE .......and oh, that’s right DON’T MAKE IT POLITICAL, WHEN #45 WAS THE ONE THAT MADE IT POLITICAL. 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬
Guys & Goldie....
Please let it go.
It's no longer relevant, and means nothing. Never did.
TV ratings for the NFL are down, no matter the reason(s).
Start with that, and build from there.
Please.
Thanks, Goldie!
I know I can always count on you!

This is the first time I googled something like "flaming cornhole" with nothing but positive results.
Who would've thought there was such a market for flames and flags on cornhole boards?
Of course, flames and flags are the new blacklight dragons and wizards.
Geez, I thought they all had Brewer, Badger and Packer logos on them. And blue and yellow bags, red and white bags and green and gold bags. That is all I ever see.
Fewer and fewer people have cable subscriptions or watch over-the-air TV. Many people, especially younger ones, only watch streaming services, and the NFL hasn't really been a part of that change.
We can argue about all the stupid reasons people stop watching football, but TV ratings are down across the board for everything. People have just stopped watching traditional TV in general. This will continue to affect the NFL as viewing habits change regardless of what they do.
I can't tell you the last time I watched a game live, DVR it and mess around in the yard until about halftime. same for baseball, college basketball. Ain't nobody got time to watch stuff live anymore.
Is "Mess around in the yard" a euphemism for anything?
