AR and the offense at this point resemble a well-oiled machine and they'll carry their weight. The Bengals have a lot of offensive weapons and what I've seen from the Packer defense so far doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. I expect Dom to continue with more House and less Hyde and hopefully that will help to plug the leaky secondary a bit.

What they really need is Burnett back in the secondary, but I expect them to hold him out until after the bye.

MM would have to lose 42 games in a row to equal Marvin Lewis' W/L record

Marvin Lewis would have to win 6 playoff games in a row to equal MM

Records don't lie but then again having 2 HOF qb's may factor in......

The Green Bay Packers practiced with only two active running backs on Wednesday with Eddie Lacy (concussion) and John Kuhn (hamstring) both sitting out with the injuries they sustained Sunday against Washington.

The one positive takeaway for the Packers was Lacy actually attended practice as typically players working their way back from concussions don't attend. The only documented casualty in this year's training camp, tackle Andrew Datko, wasn't visible at practice for nearly a week before finally resurfacing.

Cornerbacks Casey Hayward (hamstring) and Jarrett Bush (hamstring), and tight end Jermichael Finley (toe) also didn’t practice. Safety Morgan Burnett (hamstring) participated in practice on a limited basis.

Safety M.D. Jennings exited briefly with an unspecified ailment, but returned before the media’s availability to practice was over.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy will speak to the media at approximately 1:10 p.m. Central Time.

  1. MM: Casey Hayward tells me he's making progress. This one wasn't supposed to be as bad. Says he's making progress

  2. MM: Johnathan Franklin should get opportunities this week. Should've gotten him in game but James was hot.

  3. MM: Week 4 and 5 is when statistics become a little more telling if you're hitting targets you want to hit.

  4. MM: Tempo in multiple variations is very important. Two approaches to football: slow it down and other you play as fast as you can

  5. MM: There's things you can accomplish staying in one personnel. We have offensive group that's been together a number of years

  6. MM: Didn't consult Marvin on putting staff together. My 1st year as coach didn't start good. He called me, asked how I was doing?

  7. MM: Marvin Lewis, I remember being so impressed with him as a coach back at Pitt in 90. Outstanding football coach knowing him over years

  8. MM: James Starks is someone I look at as a starter with an ability to run as many times as needed. He'll get starting opportunity this week

  9. MM: Andy Dalton is a good football player. Like their scheme. They're big up front. Good challenge for our defense. Andy doing good things

  10. MM: What happens in game officiating, particularly on Sunday, I have no comment on it. That's why they have a system in place

  11. McCarthy at the podium: Eddie Lacy is making progress. He seems to be doing fine. He's going through protocol. He looks good. In meetings

The Green Bay Packers will decide Saturday whether rookie running back Eddie Lacy can play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, a week after sustaining a concussion, coach Mike McCarthy said Friday.

Injury report

S Morgan Burnett (out, hamstring).

TE Jermichael Finley (probable, toe).

CB Casey Hayward (out, hamstring).

DT Johnny Jolly (probable, neck).

FB John Kuhn (doubtful, hamstring).

RB Eddie Lacy (auestionable, concussion).

G T.J. Lang (probable, back).

CB Tramon Williams (probable, groin)

More from McCarthy

McCarthy spoke to the media after Friday's practice. Here are some highlights:

On Tramon Williams’ groin injury:

Just a little aggravated. Just following procedure. I feel with the 48 hours of treatment and just being cautious.

On Eddie Lacy’s status:

Frankly, I thought that there was a really good chance for him to practice today based on his diagnosis after the game. Once again, our doctors are going through the procedures and trusting the information. We still have time and the doctors are in charge of evaluating, going through the protocol. I know that Eddie Lacy wants to play, so we’ll see what happens.

On the possibility of Lacy playing without any practice:

Well, it’s not ideal. It’s not ideal for a rookie to go through the week without any preparation and then play in the game, no question about it. I’m not excited about it. We want 46 players that we feel give us the best chance to beat the Cincinnati Bengals. When the plan was put together on Monday and Tuesday, Eddie Lacy was part of that plan based on the information given by the medical staff. If that’s not the case β€” it’s always a medical decision, first. You have secondary plans, and we’ve done that, but the primary plan, Eddie was part of the thinking.

Able to call up running back Michael Hill from the practice squad on Saturday?

Correct.

Decision to be made on Lacy tomorrow?

Absolutely.

The rotation at safety:

It will be similar. Once again, Cincinnati’s offense has a lot to say about how you distribute your defensive personnel.

I wasn't expecting him to play, but it's kinda a headscratcher that Burnett is simply "Out" this week after being "Questionable" the first two weeks. If his condition didn't get worse, why didn't they just list him as "Out" from the start? If they were just trying to make the 49ers and Redskins think he may play, why not try it for one more week with the Bengals? Must be some kind of rule related to monkey business with the injury report. Belichick got in trouble with the league years ago over it.

I know what you are saying, Pack-Man.  However, Belicheat really never gets in trouble with the league.  Bad-all makes a tough statement, then, Victor Kiam....er...Bobby Kraft...gets on the phone, tells Badall to remember that Belicheat works for him, not the NFL, then Bad-all apologizes and only gives the Cheatriots a token fine.  That's the way is works for them....and that's why Badall doesn't get any respect anymore (not that he did in the first place).

Miller cut
The Kansas City Chiefs released former Packers defensive tackle Jordan Miller from their practice squad on Saturday. A midseason practice-squad pickup, Miller finished the 2012 season on the active roster after Jerel Worthy suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the regular-season finale.

Miller signed with the Chiefs shortly after being cut by the Packers at the end of camp. Kansas City first-year general manager John Dorsey previously served two decades in Green Bay’s front office before accepting the job this offseason.
