Interesting comments RE: Rodgers vs. MM. It appears from Mac's comments AR is still going off and doing his own thing at times and perhaps MM has finally reached his end point with that. The riff is there. It's MM's job to nip this.

I'd say it's time for McCarthy to not play an infantile power game, actually manage the relationship and work on common ground.

The level of frustration on the offense is obvious.  I get it.  They've never struggled like this during MM's tenure.  But perhaps the week 17 loss and road trip to Washington is the best thing that could have happened to them, because if there is any defense in the playoffs that could allow the Packers to get going, it is Washington.

Winning is the best medicine.  Hopefully the offense performs well against a sub-par defense and we leave Washington with a W and some confidence and momentum.  And if we lose to Washington (a likely scenario), we can all say "they are who we thought they were."

This from Eddie Lacy's Twitter account.

sorry, I don't know how to copy from his account.....gotta go see it.

The Redskins' defense ranked 17th in points and 28th in yards (25th in passing yards and 26th in rushing yards).  They gave up an average of 4.8 yds/carry, which tied for 30th in the NFL.

Don't get me wrong, they've got some play makers: Kerrigan, Smith, etc.  But in terms of their overall production, the defense was by definition sub-par.  If we can't put up some points against them, we're not putting up many points against anyone in the post-season.

Well, duh, if the Packers don't put up points against the 'skins...they aren't playing anyone else in the post-season.

I watched the presser.  At the end was a clarifying question that it was "unacceptable" because of risk of injury to AR12.  So this isn't a riff issue.  There is, however, enough evidence to prove there is a riff between the two, this just isn't one of them.  I agree with you that they need to work more on their relationship if they are going to succeed next year.

My math comes out that Washington is allowing only 18.2 pts./game at home.  with only 2 times allowing more than 20 its and never more than 30.  I think you can say they are a decent defense at home.

Does it even matter how bad Washington's defense is? The Packers' offense has shown quite well that it doesn't matter what defense they're playing, they'll still struggle. Pretty sure the crappy Bears and Lions defense shut them down

The only way the Packers win Sunday is if the defense scores. The problems on offense are not going to just magically go away. If it's like the Raiders game they'll have a shot. But once they're up against elite teams? I just don't see it, and if the defense/STs doesn't put points on the board, it's sayanora to the 2015 season on Sunday.

Redskins are 6-2 @ home

Packers are 5-3 on the road

Let's see if the Packers will flip the switch like they did vs. Minnesota & Dallas.

TBH, I think the Packers are going to get 3 or more turnovers from the Redskins. Plus I think they will run the ball A LOT with Lacy & Starks. That is a recipe for success in the NFL, especially when you play solid defense.

There was no "flipping the switch" it was a matter of defensive coordinators not playing us in a defense we have no answers for. Zimmer gave our receivers too much respect the first time around & played 2 deep safeties. He played more 1 high safety & press outside coverage until he got ahead 20-3 & then went to 2 deep shell....and what do you know, we "woke up" and moved the ball.

Well, tbh, I am hoping that there are packages that they have not shown and are now willing to run for the playoffs.

Seriously.   It's sudden death, why leave any options in the playbook.

It is TIME!

The 'Skins and Packers match up remarkably well, statistically speaking.
Each team is slightly better that the other in certain categories on both sides of the ball, but overall they are very similar.

The biggest deficiency I see for Washington on offense is that they are not very good at rushing (only 3.7 yds/attempt), ranking among the lowest in the league.
Forcing them to pass may play to their strengths, but I think it plays to ours as well.
However, they are very good at converting 3rd downs (44%).

Defensively, I see 3 things:
1. Although the 'Skins are ranked poorly in most defensive categories, they are not too bad giving up the score. The Packers have an approximately 3 pts/game advantage.
2. Green Bay is much better defending the pass, Washington gave up a lot more 20-40 yard plays, and opposing QBs operate at a much higher QBR .
3. The Packers defense was among the most heavily-penalized (1107 yds), an average of almost 70 yds/game.

All of this is a recipe for a close, hard-fought game.
Green Bay should plan to have a run-heavy attack, and mix in short-to-intermediate pass routes to sustain drives.
Turnovers will be at a premium, and penalties need to be at a minimum.
If the offense sputters, the defense needs to keep the game close, and the lead will never be more than 1 big play away. A Crosby FG could be a game winner.
Washington protects the QB well (only 27 sacks on the season), so Dom will need to be smart with blitzes. Getting/keeping pressure on Cousins would go a long way in slowing down their passing attack.

I hope Rodgers sees this.

So, the one dude blowing the other is unusual?  The guy on the left seems satisfied.  Maybe it's the finger in his ass.

"Unacceptable" is the most powerful word I can use at work to tell someone his **** stinks and not get in trouble.  Just sayin'.

Listen to Sitton around the 5:50 min mark. "Is there a rift/disconnect between AR and MM?"  Sitton: "I don't think your not far off. You're definitely right, there's a disconnect somewhere." Listening to Josh, he's pretty much saying what we're all thinking without flat out saying it.  I get the sense he'd say a lot more if he could.
