NFL are fucking hypocrites. Betting companies have been sponsors for decades in all the pro soccer leagues around the world with no problems.

They always do this... so they have time to get in front of it, pass rues that allow them to make the most money and lock out the competition. The NFL was never against betting - they were against others making money off of THEIR product without paying tribute to the Lords.

That's not been my experience. The state sends me a mail-in ballot. I fill it out and mail it back. No muss no fuss.

Arizona is working, in their legislature, to make it harder to use mail-in ballots. They know people of color use mail in ballots and that mail in ballots tend to be used more by people voting  for Democrats. After the 2020 election, many GOP controlled State legislatures have passed laws which affect people who vote for Democrats. Georgia is the best known of these and is now fighting for their voter suppression in the Courts. Texas is now trying to make people register twice to vote. Once to vote in National elections and again to vote in State and Local elections. All in an attempt to bypass upcoming legislation at the Federal level. Texas thinks that they can get around Federal laws by saying that their laws supersede Federal laws in a "State's Rights" sort of way. So, I say it will be easier to place a bet in these States than it is to vote in these States. Georgia also made it easier to carry a gun, anywhere in the State, than it is to vote there. When people vote, Republicans lose. That's what all the hubbub is about.

The Georgia deal as I see it.....people can get ids, can get mail in ballots, can find a drop box or mail it in time and lastly if they need to stand in line for a lone time bring their own water...folks have over a year and a half till the next election,   figure it out.

The real prob is this, the law takes the responsibility of counting, verifying the election out of the hands of those who always had it and puts it into the hands of the R legislature.

Pure bullshit.
Rampant voter fraud in the metro counties demanded change to mail -in voting.
And it's not in the courts...yet. Although I suspect it will be soon enough.

Article 1 Section 4 of the US Constitution defers control of elections to the states.

What rampant voter fraud? The Big Lie is that the election was stolen from Trump. The believers of the Big Lie have yet to find any rampant voter fraud to validate their arguments. The only election fraud committed was that being done by Republicans and many of those people have been charged for those crimes.

Also from Article 1 Section 4 of the US Constitution:

"but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators."

The โ€œBig Lieโ€? For 4 years all anyone heard about was a stolen election, why would counter claims now be so offensive to you? Just seems like politics as usual, to me- but as I understand it, we donโ€™t talk about politics around here.

Did you see any of the states rushing to significantly change voting laws after 2016?

Politics as usual you say?  Don't you mean "zero sum game" like the Arizona GOP before SCOTUS?  Essentially, if we don't suppress and rig elections "legally", the GOP loses.

But then anyone paying attention has known that for decades.

Um... yeah, Comrade. The expansion of mail-in voting to accommodate COVID mandates was a convenient way to usher in this new era. As if that was the only way to ensure a โ€œsafe electionโ€? *wink, wink*

Just had an election here last Tuesday- it seemed that everyone who gave a fuck had no issues getting to the polls.
