Love the LB and the running back.
No Wisconsin or Iowa players is always a plus.
But there is a Bucky!
Bunch of low grades there.

PFF grades the picks by need and rankings. PFF doesnβt think GB needs corner, linebacker or interior lineman. Iβd like to GB will draft those positions.

Iβll trust the Packers brass before what PFF thinks.

Good luck to you and the crew at PackerNotes
GB certainly can use another CB and thankfully there's quite a few talented guys to choose from this year. Which one fits best ?
When I type out the depth chart at CB it looks like this:
Boundary CB:
Alexander / Valentine / Stokes/ Ballentine/ Rochell/ a bunch of other guys
Slot CB: ?
And while I think Rakestraw can play nickle CB, I don't think the Packers will spend that pick on that player for that role. You can win a lot of friends around here by mocking Cooper DeJean to the Packers - he's a top athlete which Gute values..and he can be the nickle CB / Safety combo that every defense desires.
The other benefit is that the Packers' recently-released nickle - Keisean Nixon - was also the KR/PR and DeJean possesses those skills too. Talk about luck.
The Packers will probably have to package # 25 and # 58 to move up via our old pal John Schneider to secure Coopers' services. In another stroke of luck, the Seahawks do not currently have a 2nd, having given that up for DL Leonard Williams.
As far as a boundary corner, my two cents is that if Gute had doubts about both Valentine AND Stokes, he wouldn't have traded away Rasul.
Granted, the Packers were at the nadir of their season at trade deadline, sitting at 2 - 5 post the vikingsuck loss - but Gute wasn't shopping Douglas, the Bills were chasing and met his price.
Anyways, a long winded way of saying good call on CB in round 1, but I think
The Mighty Green Bay Packers will be looking for a different CB than Rakestraw given the current depth chart.
I like the Rakestraw pick, for CB. From what I've read the guy is a willing tackler. I also think Dejean is off the board by this pick, at #25. I was hoping for Kinchens , S, with our pick at 25. Added to the Tykee Smith pick, we might be in good shape at the S position. I think Cooper is a good pick for LB. The Imagadget OT guy is a bit puzzling. I think there may be better picks at OT available.
I have now heard that Rakestraw has an injury. FWIW.
I'd like Rakestraw and Kinchens, (or Tyler Nubin) much better at 41.

For this mock, Dejean had gone too 10. I personally think heβll be there at the end of the first round.
I donβt think the Packers essentially spend a pick on a βslotβ corner, the idea Rakestraw could play outside or in and is a willing tackler stood out to me.
We will be able to dial in more once the combine comes because Gute loves his high Ras first round guys.
I would highly recommend you guys checkout Elijah Jones.
He was a corner at Boston College last year, had a heckuva year. Heβs long, physical and fast. Heβs going to fly under the radar due to playing in the ACC. Also was coached by Hafley last year.
i think regarding safety, Packers sign a vet and take one in the second or third round. I donβt see GB taking a safety in the first round.

Bingo. It's not about drafting a position of need. It's about taking the best football player and a player that WANTS to play football (heart). Gutey loves those high RAS guys

Interesting....now the challenge is.....figuring out where the player is slotted by most, if not all, teams.
The key to the draft is figuring out where other teams have players slotted. That's how you get solid players later in the draft.
We spoke about this with Deguara. Packers reached on him in the late 3rd because they didn't have a pick until the 5th round AFTER SF was going to select him in round 5. It didn't work out but that's the game.
We've seen the Ravens take players the Packers wanted numerous times in early rounds. The Ravens and Packers are clearly 2 of the best teams drafting year after year.
Just had a mock from heaven. Only one trade at the end of the draft to go get Erick All.
25 Cooper DeJean (From Heaven) Bad Ass DB Iowa
41 Graham Barton Guard Duke
58 Edgerrin COOOPER LB Texass AM
88 Duhvontez Walker UNC WR
91 Kris Abrams Draine Mizzou DB
127 Sister Christian Mahogany Guard BC
171 Elijah Jones CB Boston College
181 Erick All TE University of freakin Iowa
Shit never falls into place like that.
