NFL Sunday Ticket for 2022

Had the Ticket for about 20 years.  Didn't re-up for the 2016 season for a variety of reasons, but cost given I was a longtime purchaser was the main reason.  Haven't had it since, and when I moved to AZ in 2019, stopped DirecTV altogether.  The Packers have so many "national games" as well as being seen as the "local" game on occasion, I don't miss that many games.  Or at least not yet. 

If DirecTV ever offered single team packages, or a streaming service only, I'd consider.  But as much as I love watching the Packers, I realize my life continues if I miss watching a game.  Plus, radio broadcasts are "old school" fun once in a while.

It’s been free for me for the last 2 years, half price the 3 or 4 years prior to that.

I could be rong, but I believe this is the last year of Direct TV’s contract and I’d bet my life on the fact that the NFL will be goi g the ala Carte streaming route. Satellite technology is so 1995. I got a dish in the Florida abode and I ain’t putting one on the NC joint for anything. Direct TV sucks. I pay $75/month for You Tube TV in NC and over $100 for the shit on Direct Tv in Floriduh.

It’s been free for me the last two years as well.  It’s worth it to me being in Denver.  Not sure what I’m going to do long term, whether I’ll have direct tv or some other service.  I like the idea of cutting the cord, but then I lose the dvr capability.  I like some shows from a few different services, but when I add up all the services I’d have to subscribe to to get all those shows, we’re back to direct TV prices again without the dvr.  I dunno.  It’s a racket.

Shit. YouTube Tv has every major channel and unlimited recording space. I have every Judge Judy ever made recorded….I’m suing Y.A. Tittle for larceny next Thursday.

YouTube Tv was sweet when it was $45.   Fuckers have been steady racing the price every year.

I have always wondered why the NFL doesn't sell games in a ala carte mode.  To be able to buy one game at a time or just my teams games would be awesome and I bet a lot of people would do that.   I had DirecTV from its beginning up until I think two years ago when I cut the cord and am using Fubo TV.  DirecTV just got too expensive for me and then the big cost of the Sunday Ticket it just got to be too much.

Thursday Night Football will be aired exclusively over Amazon Prime, this season. For people in rural areas, with poor, or no broadband service, being able to stream Amazon Prime will be next to impossible, for them. Some satellite companies serving those rural areas have stopped carrying the local/area TV stations that aired local news broadcasts. Why would they make an exception for football?

Monday Night Football will air two games every Monday. One on ABC and the second game will begin about an hour later on ESPN. The Vikings are playing one of those time slots on Monday night, one week. That sort of doubles my chances of watching the Packers play that week. I will expect the NFL to mess up, at some point, and disenfranchise even more fans than they already have.

Seems kind of self-defeating to me.  I'll miss the Thursday night games since we're not Prime members (& have no plans to subscribe) so I may realize I don't miss it as much as I think I might.  Just makes it easier to miss more games as time goes on.

If I had the opportunity to purchase a GB game package, I'd likely do that (depending on cost).

So just called to cancel the auto renewal… this dumbass has paid full rice for probably 25 of the last 27 years. I pointed that out and asked for it free. Basically they said “Don’t let the door hit you in the ass.” What did I do wrong?

Pretty certain the streaming feature will only allow you to watch the local market you’re in, not any/all games each week. Pretty certain I read this in the past. So you’ll be able to watch Packers games from your phone, tablet, etc. if you’re in the Packers TV market.

Can’t imagine the offerings would not allow you to have a package that gets every game. That’s a step back.

I already get the Giants,Comandeers, Eagles and Jets when they go into overtime before the Packers 4:30 start, why would I want to stream that?

That makes no sense.  Isn't the Sunday Ticket market primarily made up of out-of-towners?  People in town can watch on TV, why would I want to stream it on my phone?

$110 a month for service. Unless it’s raining…then it’s $110 and no service.

Why would someone want to stream instead of watching on TV? Pretty obvious, don’t you think.  I’m guessing you’re at least in your late 30s, but probably much older.  “We” grew up watching TV. The current generation streams just about everything.

And another example - you’re at your kids outdoor soccer game. Stream the Packers. You’re getting an oil change. Stream the Packers. You’re outside doing yard work.  Stream the Packers. There’s a bunch of times a TV isn’t available but a phone or tablet is.

Add to the list that so many people (younger) nowadays don’t have regular TV service with local channels anyway.  And here’s a quote from an article about it.

”Goodell didn’t specify what content will be offered on the DTC service, but according to reports, NFL+ would feature live in-market games as well as other possible content like radio, podcasts and team-created content.”

I wonder if younger people are watching the NFL at all.

So here's the title of the Headline article -

Based on that wording, it appears to me that DTV is losing ST (i.e., they no long have this exclusive contract you mention).  So if you want to watch NFL, it'll be on cable TV or this mystery streaming service.  Assuming that's the case, the new service should allow users to choose any game, not just the ones in their market (which was the point of my original comment to you making this statement - "Pretty certain the streaming feature will only allow you to watch the local market you’re in, not any/all games each week").

Yes, there are times you're away from the TV & would want to watch a game on some device.  Again, I was just saying that if I have the choice of big screen or a tiny screen to watch the Pack, I'm choosing the big screen every time even if the younger dudes opt to stream it because they "stream just about everything".

I have streamed Sunday Ticket to my tv in Utah from my Florida based dish the last few years. Also drove through Texas watching the Bears beat us streaming to my phone ( MrsKiel driving) That was the reason I kept the service.

You can try the Wausau, Wi. radio station 550 am or 99.9 fm they cover all the Packer and Brewer games. the switch from WTMJ doesn't affect their broadcast for the Packers or the Brewers.

I think a lot depends on what the new home station will charge affiliate stations to buy the broadcast.   If the locals can't sell enough ads to cover the expense they may not pick up the broadcast.

uzzu.tv  - F the NFL.  Can get all games no matter the market.

Just on principle after paying Direct TV all these years, unless they comp it (tried again via phone yesterday) I’m gonna look to the World Wide Web to view the non-National Packer games this year. I’ll buy whatever streaming is available next year. For those that have relied on that option in the past , can I reasonably expect to get decent, non-virus laden streams?
