I'm don't know about others but at Lambeau concessions do come to a halt during the anthem.
I just started watching Hockey this year. I saw probably 6 to 8 games in person at Amalie Arena and watched the lightning in other venues. I have to say at Amalie, the lead up to the National Anthem is inspiring. By the time the gal finishes singing and hearing the crowd singing with her everyone is pumped with Patriotism. The NFL should take note.
Dude, you are on fire today
michiganjoe posted:"..maybe they shouldn't be in the country." Never a smart move to attempt to appease a racist, even if he's the president.
Trump isn't a racist. Many people believe Obama was racist. That is just as ridiculous. Let's all stop the hyperbole in politics. No one is going to change anyone's. mind here on TimesFour. Like Boris said earlier....no one wants to hear about your politics.
Now, back to the thread: just go back to the way it was a decade or so ago....and like College. Everyone stay in the lockerroom during the National Anthem. Then, come out when it's done for introductions and/or last minute stretching/warm-ups.

That view of Obama is held by a small group on the fringe-right. Trump is an entirely different story.
Of course DJT is not racist, he not only told us that, he also has told us that he has incredible support among the Blacks. I take him at his word....he has never lied before.
"Many people" sometimes means more than 1.
"You people"TM is another story.
I suspect our combined football brains will not solve whether Trump or Obama were a racist.
Lets consider that particular question closed unless you want to discuss it in the politics forum.

...well. maybe that's a poor analogy.
I would quit that job and get into returnable bottle collecting along the sides of major highways.

This is a sports message board. Leave your personal agenda on the doorstep... Or at a minimum, know WTF you're talking about if you're going to take that leap.
Oh, the irony.
The simple fact is you piss on the flag every time you tell someone they have to stand for it and the anthem because the very symbolism it represents is that you don't have the right to tell anyone else what it means to them, how they feel, or how they have to honor.
Nobody is telling you you can't stand, hand and hat for the ceremony. You're trying to dictate to other people how they have to. That's a very simple distinction you seem completely unable to make.
The two posts above have no correlation whatsoever.
You're just making shiit up in your second paragraph.
Having spent a fair amount of time in the labor/management arena both managing and consulting I can tell you employee conduct is always on the table from a bargaining or labor relations perspective. Why? If you choose to discipline someone over said conduct (or misconduct) the union can grieve it. Itβs really not that difficult to understand.
The concept of βmanagement rightsβ is just that until it isnβt. What might exist in one CBA may be defined totally different in another CBA. Itβs all in the language people. When it isnβt then itβs in the interpretation or past practice.
Whaf I find it amusing that people refer to management rights as some trump card (pun intended) or better yet catch all meant to address everything. That sure seems the approach of the NFL and more specifically the NFL owners that think they can do whatever the **** they want when they want. The reality is it doesnβt work that way. But they got what they got and that is a **** relationship with their employees and their union and the day of reckoning is coming for the league. These idiots should have taken a page from MLB or the NBA but they are going to learn the hard way either through a work stoppage or through fan alienation or disinterest. Good luck NFL!!

Even racists know he's racist. He's the raciest.

I'm afraid you're right.
Something I read on Facebook pretty well sums up my feelings on the NFL and the Anthem:
Patriotism isn't about making everyone stand and salute the flag.
Patriotism is about making a country where everyone wants to.
Hopefully we get that back again someday.

No. Heβs not. At all.
Trump may not personally be a racist. But his base is dripping with them. And heβll never do anything to piss off that 35%. Which by default makes Trump a total racist.
Are black people racist because 94% of them didn't vote for Trump?

Going for the cheap shot and the Dubya quote. That's prime history book stuff. They should put that on a plaque at the entrance of Dubya's presidential library.
