- Very good G's in Lang and Sitton

- Fantastic looking LT prospect in Bak

- Top end RT in Bulaga if healthy / Good backup in Barclay / Sherrod??

- Got the most out of an average guy at C in "Big Henya" / Solid looking young guys in Tretter and Linsley to follow

Where does Campen fit into this?

Friends that have been to some OTAs have said Sherrod is going to push Bak hard for the starting LT spot.

Think all the coaches are on notice this year. Campen, Trgovac, Moss, Perry. They've all been handed a lot of young talent and a decent amount of depth. No reason for any of those units to hold the team back.

He's the oreo creme between you and Henry in a 3-way group snuggle.

If Campen turns one way, he's getting a frontal attack and if he turns the other way he's getting a rear-end intrusion. Either way he's getting screwed

And stands there with a blank look on his face while it happens.  Cog.  #overcomethecoaching

Big Ern, the probowler, was immediately signed he was so valuable.

Linsley, straight up C who played the position at a major university and Tretter, athletic and wicked smart; both factors to overcomethecampen.

Why do you think Tretter was practicing with his sister in the garage?  Better coach.

Told ya!

Worse case scenario we are going to have some solid O-Line depth

Here's an interesting piece from PFF

https://www.profootballfocus.c...-focus-tendencies/2/

They break down QBs in a whole bunch of different categories and the one I noted was

" Time to Throw" on page 2

Rodgers has the highest percentage of throws in 2 seconds or under at 42%

Bang bang and the OL has little influence on those plays

Then, as the time to throw increases, Rodgers is toward the bottom of the rankings, meaning he is under duress and not making a lot of plays during that time frame ( he's busy ducking, dodging, scrambling)

And then... as the Time to Throw exceeds 3.6 seconds, Rodgers once again rises up the chart...at this point in the play he has broken free from his attackers and again can make plays ala the one to Cobb to beat the bears

The Packers OL simply has to get better at allowing him time to go through his progressions. And they weren't good enough in 2014, even with the addition of Lacy

Bulaga needs to be better than Barclay

2014 Bak/Sherrod has to be better than the 2013 versions

Tretter has to be better than EDS

Sitton and Lang will both have another season post-switching sides to get comfortable and better at their craft

They all gotta do better; because if Rodgers has time to work his progressions, he's unstoppable

The Packers’ 6,404 yards of offense this season were the
second most in franchise history, just 78 yards shy of the franchise record set in 2011

Without Rodgers for half the season, the offensive production dipped by 5 yards per game vs the 2011 juggernaut

I appreciate the comparison, but the offense in 2011 was shut down (Rodgers pulled) during the 2nd half of most 4th quarters.  In 2013, they were behind and gained a lot N.O. Saints type yards.

This place isn't for pussies.  I shouldn't have come here tonight after having the day I had.  Had I been a little more patient I would have fleshed out my point better and not set myself up for a cheap shot. I apologize for flipping out so quickly.  Next time I'll wait until you poke at me 3-4 times.

And I appreciate your comments too, and note this:

There are any number of mitigating circumstances behind every single stat every single year. There are always games when they are ahead and often ones where they are behind. It didn't happen only in 2011 or only in 2013

When the Packers came back after being destroyed vs the Cowboys in the first half...were those Saints-like padded points/yards or do they count because it was a comeback win ?

These 2013 Packers just put up the 2nd highest yardage total in franchise history, without their stud QB for half the season.

And they started (4) different QB's in putting up those yards

That's unprecedented. And that's part of what makes it so impressive.

Along with a UDFA @ RT and a rookie 4th rounder at LT.

And no Cobb. And Finley was out too. And Lacy was hobbled. And Franklin went down. And James Jones missed time. And effing Newhouse started 2 games

And they still moved the ball in near-record fashion

I could not find info that Rodgers was pulled in many/some/most 4th quarters in 2011. Flynn started the last game of the season vs Detroit and set team records for yards and TDs. That game represented the vast majority of his playing time in 2011 and his stats were actually better than Rodgers' ; thus negating the idea that  the 2011 yardage stats were deflated by Rodgers sitting out. They actually went up

The 2011 Packers offense has been acknowledged as one of the best ever, setting records in many categories, including yards gained

The 2013 Packers offense was pretty impressive too, coming up just 5 yards/game under the 2011 record. ( but not scoring nearly as many points)

I wouldn't throw stones at either one and yet....

These Packers right here and right now, in 2014, might be the best ones you'll see in your lifetime. So quit being so..um...what's the word...oh yeah... "crabby"

PS - Kiel's a soccer pussy, Henry's the prick, Boris is a saint and I'm the irrationally exuberant homer

Go Packers

If Rodgers and Lacy stay healthy for all 16 games, this offense will be quite the machine. If one or two out of the group of Adams, Abbrederis, R Rodgers, and Lyerla comes out of the gates running, I think the potential is there to make the 2011 offense a distant memory.

Now, if Capers and company can put together an average or slightly above average defense to go with that...well, I like our chances a lot.

Why can't both of you always be pricks?

It's a zero sum game.

Opposing defensive coordinator's are never going to let it be as easy as it was during the 2011 regular season. The Giants gave the rest of the league the blue print of playing 2 deep to not allow big pass plays, give up the run & make us score from the red zone. Our "average yards gained per pass attempt" has been 7.4 & 7.2 the past two seasons. It was 7.7 in 2010 & 8.7 in 2011.

And more 2 TE sets in the red zone.  The oline upgrade at C and the maturation of the walking dead at T could put together a real power running game that isn't completely shouldered by Lacy.

It's like having a Maserati with 4L.  Thanks for all the easy yards, now we're going to punch you in the ****ing face.

Man, can't wait. Stay healthy, AR. If you think about it, AR and Lacy only played 6 games together. I feel robbed.

OH, trust me, he'd love to poke you a whole lot more than that.

Why can't both of you always be pricks?

Because you would want to spend all day playing with them.

Lacy and AR only played 6 games together behind an OL that included EDS and a rookie LT and no Finley. QB'd by Wallace and Tolzien for a few games. They still ranked 3rd in yards and 8th in points per game and Lacy somehow managed 4.1 per carry and top 8 in yards.

This offense will what they want when they want if they stay marginally healthy.

My sense of things is a lot more undecided.  To play devil's advocate, Sherrod has almost no actual game experience (does he have any?).  We do not have a center who has any actual game experience.  Bulaga is coming off injury.

LOTS of positive speculation.  I sure hope you guys are right because given what Chili wrote, if the more optimum o-line speculation comes true and if no significant injuries, I am on the bandwagon of a Packer offense that will be considered among their best ever.

This game demonstrated what the offense can do with both AR and Lacy. They scored on every single drive except the one that ended the game.

As far as Sherrod goes, he didn't show me much prior to the injury and my expectations for him are extremely limited.

Sherrod broke his leg in an NFL game, so yeah. He's got some experience. The coaches got enough of a look at Tretter to lose EDS to free agency. Bak put on 10 pounds of muscle and understands Sherrod would love the starting spot. Linsley is going to push Tretter. Competition is a good thing. End result is an OL that could be pretty good.

Satori made a good point that the OL needs to give AR more time to go through progressions. A lot of Lacy's yards came after contact last year. There's certainly room to improve.

Henry makes a good point of 2 TE sets in the red zone. They can smash it down your throat and they can go PA with the best QB in football. If the pieces are healthy it's damn near impossible for a defense to defend both.
