All has pretty much been said, but for the second week in a row the flags were kept in the pocket. Only three penalties for 15 yards after a two for 20 game in Minnesota.

While I'm thrilled to see a suddenly disciplined team, I can't help but think back on the cluster flag that was the Chicago game. Are we supposed to believe that the team is playing so differently that they've reduced their flagable offenses to 1/9 of what they were in W3? Or is this maybe what happens when the refs let the players determine the outcome?

Either way, that's got to make it tough for a team to prepare from week to week.
+ big win - the team needed this
+ Dom Capers - amazing gameplan with a MASH unit
+ OL - offensive line kept the rush away from Rodgers
+ Bishop and Hawk - huge inside linebacker play
+ Howard Green - Who knew he'd be better than TJ Lang. TT is a genius
+ Jennings - had some mai tai, hula dancers, and re-runs of Gilligan on Revis Island
+ Good challenge by MM
+ won the turnover battle, 3 turnovers forced in our end were huge

- Running game was god awful
- probably many more including offensive playcalling - but.. we won 5-3!
+ Punting was great today. It's nice to see a Punter who doesn't either boot it out of the endzone or kick it 13 yards OOB. Masthay had good hang time, dropped it inside the 20 consistently and most importantly, didn't put our defense in tough spots. I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but I hope to jerry this guy continues to play at this level and finally gives us stability there.
+ Howard Green had a very good game IMO. Have to give the guy a lot of credit, he had a couple days to prepare and he more than held his own. Looks like he will be very fine depth. He's not making up for Pickett and he didn't get pressure on the QB, but they couldn't move him off the line in the running game.

- Short yardage playcalling remains McCarthy's biggest weakness. I won't take anything away from the Jets because they have a great defense, but his play calls were downright stupid. Running the ball behind the weakest run blockers on your Oline (Clifton and Colledge) into a very big, stout Jets Dline and a great pair of ILBs is completely ridiculous. I don't know what his line of thinking there is? Does he just not care what the result is...satisfied with just a FG? Does he think his weakest run blocker (Clifton) is suddenly going to turn into Jonathan Ogden and drive his man out of the play? I don't care what the statistics about going out of shotgun on 3rd down says, I would rather take my chance with Rodgers passing out of shotgun than Jackson running behind Clifton and College.
- Rodgers inaccuracy also continues to be an issue. I don't have an explanation as to the reason for his struggles passing this season, but he's missing throws plain and simple. There's nothing to change to make that better, Rodgers just needs to work on it.
Our run game is pathetic. Other than the one 27 yard gain by jackson we were basically getting 1-2 yards per attempt. We need to do better than that. Even against stout D's like the Jets.

We really got lucky yesterday, it's good to see a win, but we really need to get this offense going sometime. Who knew we'd miss Ryan Grant so much. This kind of effort wont get it done in the playoffs. Forcing 3 turnovers on our side of the 50 and getting the Jets to surrender 7 penalties on 55 yards doesn't happen everyday. We definitely need to be crisper. A win is a win, but the backend of our schedule isn't exactly easy. Hoping for a 4-4 or 5-3 finish - that should win the NFC North at either 10-6 or 9-7.

How was the Jets running game?

119 on the ground for 4.1 ypc. Take away the punters run and the qb runs, they still were more effective running than we were.

much better than ours. They just kept shooting themselves in the foot via the pass and penalties.

I don't like going for it on a trick play on 4th and very long like they did. That was silly early in the game and stuck in their end. Dum Dum play calling.

Really? Interesting math you got there.

Jets RBs - 22 carries for 76 yards;
Packers RBs - 23 carries for 76 yards;

Obviously, the Jets running game was not only "more effective", they were "much better."

Even when considering that the Packers RBs were going against the 7th rated run defense and the Jets RBs were going against he 23rd rated run defense.

Agenda much?
Jackson got 27 yards, from the shotgun, with :15 seconds to go in the half, from our own 15. The running game wasn't too effective the other 59:50 or so.

As for the Jet's running game not being significantly more productive, I credit our defense for having something to do with that. They played their butts off.
The Jets have a darn good running game and we should be proud of our D.
May have been mentioned already, but I'm gonna cite Rodgers on a couple plays even though he still seems somewhat out of synch. Granted it was tough environment and not the best conditions, and overall he hasn't been everything I expected on the year, but

1. The back shoulder throw to Jordie was a great toss and catch.

2. 3rd and long with a guy bearing down on him he sticks one in down the middle- I believe to Nelson once again. Tough tough throw but he stood in there cuz his team needed a play.

On a side note, I'm close to cashing in the chips on James Jones. We've heard the usual comparisons between Jones and Nelson, but Jones keeps disappointing in big opportunities and all Nelson does is make tough catches in tough spots. I think Teddy needs to consider moving on from Jones after this year.
