I don’t. He’s a terrible defensive catcher (-5 Rtot/1,200), and a lifetime .309 OBP guy. He’s a .200 hitter the last four years. He is exactly what we don’t need, a free swinger, boom or bust type, especially with Choirio on the way up. That’s not the kind of influence we want.

I’m trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and remain positive, but I don’t know what Matt Arnold is doing.

Hoskins signing: β€œyay”, everybody replies, β€œshoring up the offense to make another run at the playoffs.”

Then, after already having to release Brandon Woodruff, we trade Corbin Burnes, who we had for this year. That leaves Freddy Peralta, and….who? Ashby maybe, or is he rehabbing still?

Then we sign Sanchez. If we needed to be spending money on anything, it was pitching, not a backup catcher that can’t play anything but DH, and has very little offensive upside other than the long ball.

This is a lot of mixed signals. Sanchez is coming off a broken wrist last September, and Hoskins missed all of 2023 with a torn ACL.

Arnold’s just not giving me a lot of confidence. But I’m going to just wait and hope….something Brewers fans have perfected.

From Brewers.com:

Free-agent right-hander Brandon Woodruff is returning to the Brewers, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Monday. The team has not confirmed the deal, which MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reports is for two years. Woodruff, who underwent shoulder surgery in October, is expected to miss most or all of the 2024 season.

If true that might mean he is recovering faster and better than expected.  Must have taken advice from Aaron Rodgers.

"slightly better version of Brice Turang" carries a different weight now

If Gasser would have stayed healthy, they might have have gotten two all-star players in return from those trades - Gasser and Contreras.

Turang might be the most improved offensive player in baseball this year.

He's had roughly half the at-bats as last year. He's at a 779 OPS this year and 22 stolen bases.

To put Turang's offensive improvement into perspective, to end up with the same stats as last year he'd have to go 27 for 203 from the plate the rest of the year.
