Welcome everyone to the Annual Player Selection Meating!! Are you excited about another fun-filled three-day drama-filled event of picking young meatheads, I mean woefully underplayed college STUDENTS, to enter the National Football League? I know I am!

Every year, the draft is full of hope, promise, and AIDS, and this year is no different. We, as fans, are lucky to have Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy at the helm of this team, as they rarely fail in their mission of building a team full of Pakrz People. Who will be this year's Clay Matthews or Derrick Mayes?? There is only one way to find out!! Grab a Bud Lite (promoted) and tune into your favorite NFL channel to watch!!

Per usual, I will be hosting the draft thread as well as threads devoted to individual Packer selections. In addition, a new feature this year will be interactive seminars around the forum featuring your favorite X4 Posters!! This year's sessions include:

Sleeper Prospects with IowaCheese: Ted Thompson is known for taking little-known players with high upside, get the inside tip on who should be in a Packer uniform in 2014! In-depth discussions and scouting reports on: C.J. Fiedorowicz, Christian Kirksey, Anthony Hitchens, James Morris, and more!! Bonus Lecture: Why Chris Borland = Ryan Leaf

The Good ol' Days with FreeSafety: Football historians will love this Socratic discussion of football's glory days with our very own FreeSafety! Join him as he reminisces the glory days of when Bill Bellichek was winning all the time and before anyone knew he was a shameless cheater, when linebackers WEREN'T a bunch of pussies worried about getting a TBI, and when there were only 6 teams in the league (therefore better onfield product with scores of 6-3 in overtime)

Mocking the Draft with Henry: Come to this session to create your own "mock concensus board" with Henry! No knowledge, no reality needed, just a blank draft board and the ability to chuckle merrily with your chums!! Having the Dolphins trade up to the #2 spot to take Anthony Fera?!? What wacky cooky hijinks will YOU come up with?

Race, Society, and Sport with Blair Kiel: An interdisciplinary seminar on the moral and social consciousness that athletic competition plays on society and ethnic culture. Guiding questions probed will include, "Why can't we consider D'Brickashaw Ferguson 'scrappy'?" "Would you let Jordy Nelson or Jermichael Finley bring your daughter home? Why or why not?" and "Just what is a nappy-headed ho?" "Those people" are asked to bring their own leaf blowers.

Statistics and Society with Goalline: Come have fun with probability in this learner-centered simulation! Using your own ESP skills, laws of averages, and prior knowledge, successfully guess when and where the networks will cut to commercial break, and which team will be on the board when they do so! Prizes for the top 3 posters with the highest accurate percentages! (Include lawncare service, car washing, and a 7/11 gift certificate)

Combine Simulation with Pakrz: Ever wanted to find out how meaningless the scouting combine really is? Here's your chance!! Run through all of the infamous exercises that your favorite prospect had to suffer through, with Coach Pakrz as your "hands-on" coach!! Highlights include: The underwear parade, running the 40 shirtless, urine scans, and a complimentary hernia test! No homo.

P.S. In the spirit of the draft, I saved this topic as a "draft" before I published it!! Isn't that just zany??

Great ideas rooted in love.(R)

A longwinded, all over the place post follows. I could break it up, but I'm not going to, because this ain't classic literature.

I just wanted to make you aware of a small change I am making at Ramblings.

The hyphen is dead to me.

For my adult life, I have given into "proper" grammar and typed self-aware and anti-tax. Not anymore. It occurred to me these ridiculous rules and suggestions have only survived because we allow them to do so. A while ago, I stopped capitalizing west and east, because, well, it's stupid.

Everyone knows someone, or has an "in" on a team or strategy.  This is from my buddy whose brother work for the Queens and has high placed sources.  I know its like packerchatters.

1.  Trade with Dallas ( 8 for 16 and 47) and the Vikes take Dennard  then Vikes trade into the  first round for Bridgewater/Car with NE (29 for 40 and 96)

2.  Trade with Dallas ( 8 for 16 and 47) and the Vikes take Dennard  then Vikes trade into the  first round for Bortles/Car/Bridgewater with the Pack(!) (21 & 85 for 40 & 47)

Dallas takes the deal and gives Minny number 16....

Dennard goes to Pittsburgh at 15.

Vikings panic and take Ponder 2.0, um..., I mean Carr with the pick.

Ted tells Rick to go f**k himself and his "both our seconds for your first and third" offer.

Vickies end up drafting two 4th rounders with their second round picks.

They suck for another 5 years.

Best laid plans and all. Just a s**t franchise.

Florio mock draft has GB taking Marquise Lee with Pryor, Cooks, Fuller, Gilbert, Mosley, Shazier and Kony Ealy on his fantasy board.

Thus reinforcing the fact he hates GB and he's a talentless dumbass. I've never watched Cooks but I've watched plenty of Lee the past few years. I'd take Cooks over Lee. I'd take Fuller, Gilbert, Mosley, Pryor, Shazier over Cooks. Draft is to deep in good WR's to grab one at the bottom end of rd 1.

Drafting a safety in round 1 has always been risky. McGinn is playing the averages. TJ Ward and Byrd both received record FA deals. Both 2nd round picks. It doubles the pain of absolutely nailing Nick Collins and then losing him. Nick was better than Byrd, Ward, Whitner, Goldson. Damn I miss Nick.

I don't know how you look at Dix and Pryor and decide they're better pros than Bucannon, Vereen, Jimmie Ward, Brooks, Bailey, or Loston. For that matter, how do you look at any of those names and decide they're better safeties than Micah Hyde after you've watched Micah Hyde for 12 months?

I don't know about the dreaming part, but McGinn has developed an incredible network of personnel guys and scouts over the years and he does a great job of sharing that info. Of course he does get to pick which of their comments he runs with, so there is some editorial freedom there. But most of what he posts at this time of year is actually from NFL people and not his own opinion. That's what makes it quality stuff imo

Gossling does the same thing down in Dallas

Editorial freedom and hyperbole is what makes most of these journalists with connections difficult to read/follow/give a chit about.

For example, from Twitter:

Packers hoping for ILBs Mosley, Shazier to show up at pick No. 21

Reading the McGinn story linked in that tweet there is no quote from anyone with the Packers that they are hoping for Mosley or Shazier to be there at 21.
