It's that. And if you get a guy like Matt Flynn that knows he can start in this league when he looks at the QB's that are starting (I'm looking at you Blaine Gabbert, Tavaris Jackson, and Jake Locker) then he's going to leave, regardless of what you might be thinking about offering him to stick around.

You let him go (the right thing to do) and go to work grooming the next man up.
Yep. Driver looks like he might as well be 25. Worthy and Perry just interviewed now. Both guys you can tell have a lot of energy and are very excited about the season.

Perry, likely because he wasn't facing a constant diet of Bulaga, had one of his best practices tonight. Stood out on several plays.

MM no word on Newhouse. Did not have a report.
Thoughts from tonight.

Datko should have been playing with a red flag over his head.

Worthy needs to temper his enthusiasm just a bit. He's had WAY too many offside calls so far in camp. But I love the GO he's showing.

Greg Jennings is worth every $$$ he's looking to get. He is impossible to cover 1 on 1.

Finley is uncoverable in the red zone as long as he catches the ball. It's not fair.

Alex Green is going to start at RB for the Packers if he stays healthy.

Crabtree had a false start then a bad dropped pass for 12 yards on consecutive plays. 17 yards of failure.

Driver looks like he's 27 years old. Amazing.

Perry loved seeing someone other than Brian Bulaga at RT. And I hope Bulaga keeps stoning his @ss in camp for the next few weeks to get his temper up.

Aaron Rodgers is better than every QB in football. And it's not really that close. It just isn't.
That's what separates great coaches from us fans.

McCarthy understands his job isn't to put on a show on family night. It's nothing more than another opportunity for him and his staff to identify the best 53 to get Green Bay to New Orleans in February.

If we're underwhelmed but he learned things tonight. We're all better off in the big picture.
I was trying to pay extra attention to the corners and safeties, and for the most part it wasn't pretty. However, Woodson didn't play and I really doubt that Levine, Brandion Ross, and Richardson will make the team and all of those guys got a lot of playing time.

Shields and Bush didn't do anything to distinguish themselves in coverage. House got in there and made some plays and Heyward was OK.

Rodgers and the offense looked like they were in regular season form. I also thought it was good to see what Coleman could do. While Harrell might be the #2 guy it's very possible at some point Coleman could be the backup.
It seems as though for TT's drafts, its always gravy when rookies perform well. The coaching staff seems to really expect the most from second year players, who have no excuse after a full season and off-season.

I expect contributions from all of the D draftees this year, but more as role players. Not expecting a Mathews or Cobb among these guys. Happy to be proven wrong.
My thoughts from my first Family Night:

- Truly a great event. The atmosphere was great.

- I count AT LEAST 3 sacks Perry would have had if he were allowed to hit the QB. It wasn't Harrell or Coleman holding it too long either, he got there. He destroyed Herb Taylor on one occasion with a bull rush (which is in Lamarr Woodley territory IMO) and showed his quickness and agility and speed chasing plays down. He looked surprisingly fluid in coverage and really didn't embarrass himself. He's going to have some hard moments, but I was really encouraged.

- I thought Dezman Moses had some solid moments too. He is a very talented athlete, but he's not just an athlete. He's a solid football player in the mold of DJ Smith.

- I think Jamari Lattimore has outplayed Terrell Manning at ILB. I wasn't as impressed with Manning, he may be more of a project.

- Anthony Hargrove has the juice! He will be a big boost to our interior rush when he returns. For what we are paying him he will be a steal.

- It's going to be a transition with our Safetys. We're all used to Nick Collins reliable play and we will need to be patient with Jennings and co. They weren't bad, but there will be some painful moments IMO.

- DJ Smith should be starting. Period.

- I thought Muir would be a longshot to make it, but now I will be surprised if he doesn't. He's a solid run defender and provides more than CJ Wilson overall. My guess, based on what I saw, for who they keep: Pickett, Raji, Worthy, Daniels, Neal, Hargrove, Muir.

I think CJ Wilson is better than some of us (Me for sure) give him credit for. I think Muir will win a spot at least until some suspended players come back.
