Me, too.

Looks like Go-Go is carrying on the "tradition". Good thing he's fast; may need that speed to get away from some of his less-than-thrilled teammates.

BTW hoop, were you posting on jsonline's blog this afternoon? If not, someone stole your handle.

Review just the Crew's history and I bet you find several (see Kevin Barker as an example).

I think the original goal was to platoon AGonz with Green but that went out the window with Green's injury. It is too bad they couldn't have snagged Overbay and why the player they did decide to pick up was Yuni is a head scratcher. Not just because he is Yuni, but that he is also right handed.

Anyway, if you want to look at the bright side, only a SS playing 1B would have made that superb run down play that stymied a big inning and maybe save the day for the Crew.
Man, it's great to hear and see the sounds of Baseball back into our lives again. There's nothing in American sports to compare to the opening of a new season.

Right off the bat, the Crew gives us fans a spine-tingling opener to enjoy.

Although they came back and started the season with a win, I'm a wee bit worried about what I saw from Yo yesterday.

He had nothing. He couldn't hit spots, he couldn't command his curveball till the 4th, he topped out at ONLY 91 and dropped to 90 in the 4th, and was lucky to escape with a no decision. I'm hoping that his early start this year with the World tourny has meant he is hitting his dead arm period before the other non-tourny Pitchers this Spring. In his career, his fastball has always been in the 92-93 range.

We'll just have to wait for the next couple of outings to see what trend develops.

Billy Jo Robidoux 1986
Sean Berry 1999
Kevin Barker 2000
John Briggs 1972
Terry Francona 1989

Top 3 opening day starts at 1B
Cooper - 9
Fielder - 6
Jaha - 6 (HOLY CRIMINY JOHN JAHA WAS OUR STARTING 1B FOR SIX YEARS?)

Career OPS is probably the fastest way to check this out.

Billy Jo Robidoux - 600
Sean Berry - 779
Kevin Barker - 683
John Briggs - 771
Terry Francona - 652

Congrats, you found 3, Gonzo is a 690.

Last year only Smoak and Hosmer had a lower OPS at 1B
I can't help but wonder what the front office is truly thinking. Hart has long since stated he wants to stay and play in Milwaukee, yet the organization did nothing to lock him up early like Braun, Yo, Lucroy etc... Why is that do you think? Is Hart not in the long term plans???? If not, then why a stop gap at 1st base? Are we waiting to see if our vaunted AAA 1st baseman (yes, its early and his name escapes me)is able to make the adjustments and become the same type of hitter in the Majors as in the Minors???? Hard to see where this is going at 1st base. Gonzo may be able to fill in but he's not the answer long term....and once Hart comes back, who gets sent down or gets their out right release??? Yuni?????
Hart is an interesting case. 4 years ago(?) he was damn near out of the organizations plans with a catastrophic slump. He made an adjustment, and since he has solid seasons. But he's hurt a lot, and I don't know about locking him up with a 5 year deal. He is not a guy they should consider indispensable when you can only bank on him being around for 130 games or so. Plus they have a guy coming up that is getting a lot of press- why invest long term?
