Honestly, I truly get my Packer fix from just X4 and the Milwaukee Urinal (Crappy woke journalism in every other section, but excellent sports coverage) This link indicates there are other “Must read” sites and they link to shit like this that has….zero fucking activity. I’m pretty sure the incels from the other sites visit with some regularity….why no love for x4? Is it Boris’ unibrow? Chongo’s flatulence? Pakrz shitty ham sammiches? Satori’s superior knowledge? Bong’s ability to be rong on every possible take? Pike Peaks hiatal hernia? Fedya’s existence? My charm? What is it that keeps X4 from being on the lips of every Packer fan?

Great sites aren’t appreciated till they are gone
Hate to break it to you, BK, but "woke" means informed.
That’s like saying “Progressive” means progressive.
Homey, don’t play me like that.

I’m workshopping a run for President in ‘24. Can I count on your support?
Keeping in mind I'm a total dweeb when it comes to anything related to the internet, and I didn't start surfing until the late '90's, I just knew to bookmark the local newspapers (Milwaukee and Green Bay), and a couple of sites like Sporting News or Packers.com.
I found an AOL chat room ( HA! ) that was football-specific, was very active and generally fun, but it wasn't a place for latest news or intelligent discussion about the Packers, in particular.
By random coincidence, I was talking with a guy that ran a sports website, and he asked me if I had ever heard of x4, said if I was a Packers fan I would love it, and the rest, since December 2004, is history.
P.S. He was right!

Clueless People Acting Childish
The intent of my post was not to get political. I hold both political parties in equal disdain. I’d edit, but the context would get lost. Let’s focus on this thread how X4’s decline accelerated when Iowacheese came back instead. I’d give my left nut to be able to trade him to Rubechat.

I threw it and it went wide left.
In the early days of electronic distribution of the news I had the Jeff Ash newsletter and surfing Usenet via the Lynx browser. Don't recall how I found X4.
I thought this was some private exclusive club that required a substantial monetary investment before you could participate. Am I rong?
I think I was grandfathered in.
Once again, please keep political shit in the lounge. Thank you.
I was on X4 in the seventies, (before the internet). It was kind of boring then, just me and my Brother typewriter.
BK - I think the answer to your initial question is search results/marketing. That article you linked most likely had very little research done, typical for most (internet) journalism these days. I’ll bet the author did a quick internet search for some form of Packers/chat/message board/forum and then wrote about the top results.
Also, I’d never change the name of Times Four / X4, but it really brings up nothing to make a person think of the Packers.
So unless the owners of this board are looking to pay for costs and/or make a dime or two, I say “fuck ‘em” (newbies not owners) regarding a bunch of new traffic. Most likely a mass influx of posters will be filled with trolls and dipshits. And we already have enough dipshits. And shitty sammiches, flatulence, and charm.
I always check acmepackingcompany, and I really enjoy Bill Huber at si.com. I have always related to the Times Four name, because that is how I estimated cost to travel - airline ticket price, times four (adding wife and two kids). I once wore an X4 t-shirt to a Packer game. Only one fan acknowledged knowing the site, but didn't give his name - said he was read only, no posting.

What he's really saying is that he posts like an effing idot on X4 - and no way in hell is he sharing his board name with you in real life.

Oh, lawdhavemercy!
Mrs. Timmy has one particular page on her Facebook (She Loves The Packers) that is specifically for the ladies that is over the top on its' own merits. The best are the ones who pile on the makeup for "hot" selfies in Packers gear, or selfies of some kind of Packers tattoo they have adorned themselves with.
Over the last year or so, there seems to have been a proliferation of pages created for teams (Heavy on the Packers, Die Hard Packers Fans, etc., etc.) that are as awful as you might imagine.
It's all fantasy discussion, and it's not even good fantasy discussion!
So, yeah, I wouldn't want to see a bunch of those assholes find their way here.
However, if some did, most newbies find out fairly quickly...
x4...not for pussies!
Well, a few of us have pussies anyway, but I'm not a pussy...
On another note, I can't remember how I found out about X4 but I know I lurked around for quite a while before joining. You folks are equal opportunity listeners, discussionistas, and asshats to each other and to us females. The spirit of the board is supportive if needed, and the discussions aren't as mean-spirited as they often are on other boards. (*cough* RubeChat *cough*) I find X4 refreshing!
That is the nicest thing that anyone has ever said about any group I’ve been a part of.
Well, except the John Birch Society.

Take the check down dummy, it works for Kirk Cuz every time. 🏆
I don’t know how I found. x4 but being out of state I always liked the WI connection. I remember back in the early days a guy getting relationship advice when things got weird after he got engaged. Not your typical sports bulletin board.
I find the opinions, jokes and insights on x4 more informative and entertaining than most of the sports sites out there. I’ve never found another fan forum that comes close. That said, I don’t think we need an influx of noobs.

I left Wisconsin when I was 13. Much later, the Brewers were kicking asses in 2011 and I was in China, looking for a chat and I stumbled on times four. I mentioned Timesfour to my dad and he already knew about you all. I came for the Brewers, stayed for the superior breaking news on Wisconsin sports and the jokes.

I got to shake his hand once on one of my trips there!
I peruse a Brewer and Badger board that have some Packer content. Nothing quite like this.
I journeyed over in 2000 when the old JS Online board melted down.
Which begs the question, who is the longest standing active member here?
Longest member?

The lady across the street from me had cancer and wasn't doing well. Her favorite player was Gilbert and he came to her fundraiser and stayed quite awhile talking to her and the others. I will always remember him for that.
Packerchatters was better
I migrated over here with the herd from Zbud's when threads began devolving into page after page of infighting, interspersed with the occasional on-topic comment. Then they started having trouble keeping the lights on.
I'd go back there from time to time just to play in the arcade room and to see if there was any activity on the board. There were of couple of hangers-on posting mostly to themselves and occasionally getting into an argument.
I considered inviting them to X4, but thought better of it.

I was using the old Journal Board when Scoop started X4. I think it was the same day the Journal shut down that X4 started up I signed up that morning. The member ship numbers got reassigned when Scoop changed the format once, but If I recall correctly I was #3 in the original. .
You have always been number 2 to me

So you’re talking about my Monday and Thursday game threads.
