I was using the old Journal  Board when Scoop started X4.  I think it was the same day the Journal shut down that X4 started up I signed up that morning.  The member ship numbers got reassigned when Scoop changed the format once, but If I recall correctly I was #3 in the original. .

If the "joined" date is accurate, then I beat you by a month.

I'm #2!

Same with me. Packer Plus Online. I remember getting our first 'puter (Mac) during the AOL days and getting on the "World Wide Web". I had the spinning world thingy and took forever to load up. Being in NY I was searching for any Packer news I could find. Stumbled on The Journal Sentinel and Packer Plus. Also found an NFL chat room that was pretty wild. My name on the chat was Conrad Doebler!

Man, forgot about Zbuds.

Craziest thing I remember about Zbud’s was when one of the younger members was missing.  His significant other was on the board as well asking any members if they knew any info and could help.

It did not have a happy ending.  Apparently he had walked out on the ice at nighttime and fell through on one of the rivers near GB and his body was found at the bottom some time later.  I think his name was Clarence Ronstad or something like that.

Edit:  I think his name was Clarence Rogstad.  Found in the East River and was only 23 years old when he died in 2004.  Pretty sad.

Countdown for Pakrz to get cancelled

5....4.....3....

There was a guy on the old AOL forum that used the same moniker. Probably signed up 20 times under a new account after getting the boot. Pakrz, Pakrzz, Pakrzzz, Pakrzzzz, etc.

I used to have that mailed to me. When I was deployed overseas it would be over a month late. I also used to sneak into the communications tent and go on the official site and to some of the Wisconsin newspapers sites as well as something called the Rockport Lodge.

was he a real prick?

Cripes, I had to look up when I joined (after the Urinal went in the toilet). Two days ago it was 23 years! (March 3, 2000.) I just had a birthday not too long ago. Yes, folks, the QuietOne has reached the milestone age of 70.

Re: Gilbert Brown. A niece who used to waitress at the Pine Cone in Johnson Creek said that Gilbert would stop by once in a while. Friendly and gracious to everyone.

I think I tried a few other Packer sites back in the day, but they never caught on with me. I think it's because You Guys™ sure know how to entertain a person.

Excuse me while I go back into Lurk Mode.

I really enjoy the humor here and there is  occasional great  insight. I posted on a small packerboard for years ..and we devolved into sarcastic political arguments...which were so productive ( sarcasm face)...It got to  the point where I couldn't stand it- --and I slowly migrated here.

I enjoy that political innuendo can be expressed, but greater political discussion gets the kibosh.

In January I met someone from Pittsburgh who is a times four fan---he was excommunicated for political statements, but still lurks---I didn't get his board name either

I know, I know, you’re all saying, “But Blair, Bong is the biggest asshole at x4.”

He’s having self-esteem issues right now and I’m helping in the only way I know how to.

Everyone needs a mentor at some point in their life.

When I was deployed to the Gulf in Nov 1990 I wrote to the Packer report and ordered the draft guide because I was hot for the Packers to draft Brett Farve in spite of his crappy senior season.  When I got my copy in april of 91 (Mail to the gulf was very slow) I had a handwritten note (thanking me for my service) from the mail room lady who sent my draft guide.  Made my day and Ill never forget it
