Surprised they cut Heflin, but then again he seems like heâs hit his ceiling. If a guy like that, despite being max effort, is getting minutes then you have a depth issue.

So they kept all 11 draft picks on the roster? Or did I miss someone?
Down to 2 RB's tells me 3 things.
1. They expect Hill back soon. Like October soon.
2. They feel good about signing Goodson and Taylor to the PS.
3. They plan to give Amari a real good look in that Deebo role early in the season.

Right, the 49'ers didn't want him, so he can't be that spectacular. PS candidate, maybe, but not sure he'd be better than anyone we already have.
The 2 RB move is crazy.. If the plan is to use Rodgers on a couple run plays a game, I don't like it. So far he has shown to be a poor mans Ty Montgomery.
I'd rather play Goodson at WR than Rodgers at Scat Back or whatever the name of that role is.

Yeah, that seems a little odd. I guess they're counting on the two they cut to clear waivers. It's a bit of a gamble, I agree. But when you have to weigh in all the factors in building the roster, it's less hard to replace them if you lose them to waiver claims.

He's a vested vet, so I doubt he will be signed before week two.
If he is signed to the 53 now, his contract becomes fully guaranteed for the season.

They can call up each of the practice squad players to be game day actives up to three times without having to add them to the 53 man roster.
We need to think in terms of a 69 man roster instead of 53.
This is the first 53, but it might easily change. It does most years. Wouldnât be surprised to see Goodman on the opening day roster.
Herman has been floating the idea of keeping 2 RBs for a couple of weeks now. You could bring up Goodson for 3 games and Taylor for 3 games (if both are on the practice squad) until Hill comes off injury... by then there will be more injuries and you can decide about adding one of the three to the 53.

In the flexible PS era(or whatever they call it), thatâs not a big deal. They will add a PS RB to the 53 every week until Kylin Hill returns.
I'm surpirised Ford, Walker, and Carpenter made it.
Ford must have been magical in practice because he was ass in the games.

It seems to me that some of the players that made the roster (Nixon, Jean-Charles) did so with STs being the primary reason driving those decisions.
Huge $ difference for these young kids between making the active roster & the PS ... for a guys like Goodson - he'd make about 210K if on PS for entire regular season, but around 705K if on active roster for same period.
Hope this kid makes it and contributes! What a great story.

Well, you can't teach the 6'5" part, but the 338 is easily done even if you are 5'6".
